Well in the case of the Sandman yeah it does in fact matter. On the other ECW tapes/DVDs I've seen they edit out the real song too and it's always weak.

Guest Gary Busey

I was under the impression that there will be this rush job, and then a Collector's Edition that was unrated.

Deep Discount DVD has a WWE ECW DVD coming out on July 12, although no details are shown except that it's a CE.

I thought there was going to be a 2 disc best of ECW matches coming out soon.

That's not coming out until later in the year.

The ECW: Collector's Edition at DDD shows a retail price of $34.95 - meaning it's 3 discs.

I'd guess it's Rise and Fall bundled with One Night Stand.

Is it true that all the ECW Pay Per Views released in the UK (Region 2) by Pioneer are unedited?

I heard that somewhere before.

Not all.

I have a small number of un-edited, both on DVD and VHS...I think all the 1999 PPVs are unedited music-wise, at least. Maybe a few more from 1998 too. A lot of the others are edited though. The non-PPV videos/DVDs are all edited, as far as my (not vast, but decent) collection is concerned. The later PPVs are edited too.

As long as RVD and Paul's shoots are still there, I'm happy. Sandman's theme is always edited on tape so It really doesn't matter much to me.

I don't see how editing out Metallica is such a big deal. After all, Metallica are supposed to be real bitches about getting their money (remember Napster?) and it just might not've been economically feasible for the WWE to have paid the royalties. And in the end, it doesn't really change the show at all, the people are still singing the whole song anyway. Plus, we've all seen Sandman's entrance a thousand times, what does it matter in this one individual case that the music is changed?

Hope nobody takes this the wrong way:

If the major disappointment expressed here for the DVD is taken as a fair sample of ECW fans, then what kind of message will the WWE receive when the ONS DVD theoretically doesn't sell nearly as much as previous releases? That ECW is not as hot as they thought? Or that some fans are morons because they don't buy a DVD 'cause some entrance music is changed and some curse words are bleeped?

I for one am buying the DVD. Hell, it's already on its way. Maybe I won't be as impressed to Sandman's entrance but that's not a major reason (at least for ME) not to buy the DVD. If all the hoopla and reports are accurate I'll enjoy the atmosphere and the matches, hopefully.

Hey just saw the dvd with JBL's alternate commentary. Nothing good at all about it; not funny even, just ...boring, really. Oh, and for all you marks who thought JBL was entertained. came to appreciate the Awesome/Tanaka match and were wondering why they aren't in his cabinet, but were you guys wrong. Not one good thing said about either (he was just mocking them, noting how they were out of shape and how Tanka was his doorman).

Orlando Jordan was giving one-liners on the commentary; actually Jordan did say "you f*cked up" when Tanaka did his diamond dust maneauver on Awesome and awesome messed up, which was kind of funny because the ECW fans didn't surprisingly chant that

Got the DVD, the only noticeable changes are a jump cut for Beaula's DDT on Buba Dudley so it isn't noticeably botched, Doring and Roadkills botches promo was cut completely (they couldn't edit it back in the spot it was supposed to air?), and of course the biggie was Sandman's entrance dubed over with generic knockoff music. Oh well, that was kind of expected since no way I saw Vince shelling out for the warranties to keep it on the DVD, I'm shocked he even bought the rights to use it once. Strangely enough Let The Bodies Hit The Floor and 65 Thunderkiss are left in tact, so I guess they cut deals there. I didn't noticed the Dudley Boys theme changing, but now that I think about it, he's right, odd. Also I don't know what he's talking about with Taz's theme, it's still War Machine with Survive If I Let You and it's as awesome as ever.

No real extras besides all the TV promo spots that aired, and a video package recapping the ECW funeral deal from RAW and a small featurette with the fans being interviewed after the show.

I'm going to buy it just to support the ECW name.

I went to a bunch of places today to get it, but it wasn't in stock anywhere. I was told by people at each place I went that tons of people have been asking about it all day, and that's a great sign to me.

Whatever. If anything, that arguement is 'weak'.

Does the music really matter? Are you actually watching it for entrances or matches? ;)

For Sandman it does.

Anyone want to send the PPV to me? I never dled it, and pwtorrents is down.

Are you kidding? You'd not support a product that you supposedly like, because Sandman doesn't have his overrated shitiest of shitty Metallica songs as an entrance theme?

...and yet, the same twits who don't buy the dvd because of this reasoning will also bitch when WWE thinks that ECW didn't sell because no one's interested.

Seriously. It's called licensing and copyrights, look into it. You really expect WWE to shell out royalties to every crappy band that ECW pirated an entrance theme off of in the first place? Give me a break.

Does anyone else see the irony here?

*gasp* I typed argument too fast, made a typo, and HTQ doesn't approve. What ever will I do?
