Fuck these umps. Called a 1-1 pitch to Giambi a strike that was 8 feet outside,  and a 2-1 pitch a strike to Cano that was 8 feet inside.

And Tanyon Sturtze has morphed back into Tampa Tanyon, giving up 2 HRers in 2 innings.

Gah.

That play with Sheffield being called save at first in the bottom of the 9th was far worse.

While it *might* have been more important, the strike call on Giambi was pathetically obviously a ball. It wasn't even close.

Yeah it wasn't a strike, but remember, it's where the ball crosses the plate not where it lands. The way it landed made the call seem more ridiculous then it really was.

Well, the Sheffield call wasn't obvious either. We do have replay, and at first glance, I thought he was safe too. Either way, two bullshit strikes. One on Giambi, and one on Sheffield.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.

That was Bonds vs Lilly territory.

If that doesn't get Giambi going, I don't know what will.

edit: Brown left the game with back spasms

ugh.

Once again, a Mets starter does everything short of sucking dick (to quote the always eloquent Randy Johnson) to get a win, only to find nearly no offensive support backing them up. Real, real bad loss. Six out of the last seven. Drops 'em below .500.

I'm disappointed, is what I'm saying.

I feel like sticking my left converse sneaker up Victor Zambrano's ass.

The guy just bugs me, he seems to work so consistent... then loses 5 starts in a row (with or without the run-support). Be like Pedro, HAVE CONSISTENCY! but thank god the Mets release AL fricking Leiter.

It really was a big win, when you think about it. Were still 6.5 behind the Os, only 5.5 out of the wild card, and all this with RJ going today. A loss last night would have been killer.

It amuses me that Yankee fans are getting excited because of a home run off Jose Mesa.

We're more excited that we won a game after trailing in the ninth. Who really gives a damn who it came off of.

Well, I read that Baldelli may need Tommy John surgery.

How many other position players have had to get TJ surgery?

Luis Gonzalez had it midway through last season, and he's back full strength this year, which is good news for Rocco. That's rough though, a torn ACL and a wrecked elbow??!!

I was happy to see that Joe Table was back to his old form (and he's out of an Indians uniform whilst doing it). But I'm not a Yankees fan, so I guess that doesn't count.

Tony Womack underwent TJ surgery in 2003 I believe.

Congratulations, you beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in extra innings.

Obviously.
