Guest NewYorkFox Report post Posted June 16, 2005 While watching Raw Monday, when the WWE title match was still Cena/Christian, I had a breif question. How many wrestlers who had a one-on-one world title match at a PPV have not at one point been world champion, either before or after? The onle ones who spring to mind are RVD and Bob Holly *shudder*, but I'm sure theres plenty more. Any ideas?

Guest Fook Report post Posted June 16, 2005 He won it in a screwjob and sold it right away to Ted Dibiase. I don't count that as an actual reign.

Guest NewYorkFox Report post Posted June 16, 2005 Still surprisingly few. Edge had a PPV title shot? And I'm sure Luger held the belt.
ISportsFan 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 Edge had a title match against Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman in a handicap match at a UK PPV, I think it was at Rebellion 2002. Jason
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 How could you all forget Big Boss Man? "He lived a full life on his own terms, soon he'll be buried and eaten by worms." Edit: Ahh fuck. At least it gave me an excuse to post part of that beautiful poem.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 He won it in a screwjob and sold it right away to Ted Dibiase. I don't count that as an actual reign. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WWE and various title magazines do...so he was once WWE Champ. DiBiase, however, wasn't.
natey2k4 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 Bob Holly @ Royal Rumble 2005. EDIT: I see that was already said, lol. Earthquake? At one of the Summerslams or Survivor Series against Hogan?? EDIT: Nope, that wasnt a championship match. I got nothing. lol.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Well, like I mentioned...what about DiBiase? I'm sure he got at least one or two one-on-one matches for the Championship, but never actually won it.
Guest Dale Earnhardt Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Ted Dibiase was in the finals of the WWF Championship tournament at WrestleMania 4 so that alone should count. However, do you count the rest of the tournament? They technically had a "shot."
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Ted Dibiase was in the finals of the WWF Championship tournament at WrestleMania 4 so that alone should count. However, do you count the rest of the tournament? They technically had a "shot." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really. They only had a shot to get the shot. The shot, of course, being the finals. So only DiBiase and Savage had the shot, and Savage got the win.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Dibiase/Savage was the only match in the tournament that was actually for the title, so only Dibiase should count.

Slickster 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2005 Ahmed didn't get a singles match for the WWE Title. Luger won the WHC, so he's out. Ditto for Farooq/Ron Simmons. However, The Barbarian and Road Warrior Hawk do count (HHavoc 92 and Bunkhous Stampede 88).
