Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 I am speechless. Although it is only listed as 'Announced' so hopefully soon... that status will be 'Cancelled'. First 'Son of the Mask 2', now this? (And do not get me started on 'Herbie: Fully Loaded'). I dare say, Hollywood has lost all sense of good ideas. We established that long ago.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 I hated the first movie.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 Ditto, and didn't the character give himself up at the end? I can't wait to see what the motivation for dragging it up as an old woman is this time, hopefully it involves infiltrating an Al Queda ring
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 At the end, they find out when he saves Pierce Brosnan from choking. The court bans him from seeing the kids without adult supervision, but then Sally Field feels bad for him and goes and gets it overturned and he becomes the kids new nanny. Mrs. Doubtfire also becomes his new TV personality.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 His main motivation for putting on all the drag in the first place is for his family. So now, twelve years later, when even the youngest child is college-age, why would he possibly put on such horrendous make up for? This is one of those movies that cannot, and should not, be sequealed. It just doesn't lend itself for such a thing.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 Of all the things to make sequels of, Mrs F'n Doubtfire certainly wasn't the first movie to come to mind, i must have been oblivious to the outpouring of demand to see the continuation of a 13 year old piece of fluff comedy. What logical reason would there even be to make the sequel, something as stupid as even entertaining the idea of making a sequel in the first place, no doubt. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2005 Years later, with the kids away at college, Daniel Hillard is interested in a new position as a nanny. Unfortunately, with parents not wanting a 50 year old single man in charge of their kids, he doesn't have luck finding a job. So naturally, out comes the Doubtfire clothes. Either that, or he gets a job as Hillard, and a misunderstanding leads to him being fired. The kids don't want him gone, but the evil parents do. Presto chango, he's got himself a new identity and a new opportunity for the job. People who get pissed off about sequels half-retarded. Just don't watch them. Maybe I'm just saying this because I only watch six new Hollywood films a year or so, which means my movie mind is in a different place, but it's not THAT big of a deal. Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2005 I'd be more interested in "The Man", starring Samuel L. Jackson and Eugene Levy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I saw the trailer for that before Land of the Dead, and it could end up being painful to watch...or it could be great. I don't see a middle ground for this one, and if I had to bet one way or the other, it'd be on it being painful. I hope I'm wrong though.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted June 26, 2005 I presented it as a "lesser of two evils" scenario.

CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2005 Eugene Levy rocks. He makes it worth seeing. Wait, no he doesn't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eugene Levy is hilarious, but the 'geeky white guy dad' character has worn far too thin. Hell, it had by the end of the First American Pie. No need whatsoever for Mrs. Doubtfire 2. I hadn't even considered the fact the kids were grown, the first ended perfectly.

Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted June 26, 2005 I think Mrs Doubtfire made an obscene amount of money (150 mil + for a comedy), so the big wigs are looking for an excuse to cash in another huge pay day.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2005 I liked Mrs. Doubtfire when I saw it at the theater, but I wouldn't pay to see a sequel.
Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2005 If they wanted to cash in on doubtfire 2 Why did they do a sequel 10 years ago then? I mean I enjoy the first one but 12 years later is a hard sell for a second. and cmon you can tell me that you didnt enjoy big mommas house even just a little bit? I saw it at the movies and thought it was decent.
