Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 If you liked Etrian Odyssey, consider 7th Dragon. I don't know if it'll be released in English, but it's by the same people, and basically the same, except more traditional.

For some reason it brings back memories of Sega Saturn.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2009 I really need to go back to Infinite Undiscovery. Was kinda fun, but I kind of got sidetracked by a money exploit I started abusing and then got distracted by GTA IV, Fable 2, and all the other sequels. I'll get back to it. Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 I'm thinking about buying the Tomb Raider (Anniversary, Legend, Underworld) games as they're pretty cheap at the moment (£4.99-£17.99). Has anyone played them? Are they decent enough to buy, or should I just get Underworld? I liked Legend... but that was free on Gametap. Would I pay for it? ...actually, yeah, I would. Anniversary I played on Wii, would have preferred traditional controls.

Has anyone played them? Are they decent enough to buy, or should I just get Underworld? Legend is really good. Anniversary is good too, but the last chapter can be a real bitch with timed jumps that you'll fall to your death if you miss. On the bright side, the checkpoints are at every jump at that point. Underworld I only played the demo for. The 360 version of Anniversary I hear is really buggy (at least the disc version). I played the PS2 one, but that has it's share of non-game-breaking glitches, too.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Man, ever since getting married and getting a real job I feel like my gaming time has gone out the window. When I was in Dodge City working I was able to play games a lot. I ran through Paper Mario, Half Life 2, Lost Planet, Guitar Hero 3, Oblivion and Zelda Twighlight Princess in the 9 months I was there. Plus I fed my addiction to NCAA football while there too. But since moving back to Oklahoma and getting a job where I had to be up real early? Yeah, no time at all. I've been back in Oklahoma for nearly a year and have only played one game in that time: Lost Odyssey. And I got to the end and didn't finish it. Well I say one game, but I also fed my NCAA football addiction. But, since I've decided my love for time consuming turn-based RPGs is a thing of the past and just nostalgia now I think I may have more time to game. However, I have quite a list in front of me. I got Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Galaxy and Gears of War 2 for Christmas. I want to beat them all (i'm such a completist. it takes a lot to make me quit, like extreme boredom in Lost Odyssey's case) and then I also want to play and/or beat: Fable 2, Fallout 3, GTA 4, Resident Evil 5, Halo Wars, Street Figher 4, and Prince of Persia. And there's probably others. Damn that's quite a list. I'm going to need to get a divorce and quit my job. Quick question on Fable 2, if you don't get online or download content is it worth it? Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 SO3: What are your thoughts on Star Ocean 4? I've seen a bunch of the cinemas, and it looks like embarrassing horseshit, no matter how good the gameplay might be. Oh, I don't have an XBox. Actually, the closest thing I have to a next-gen system is the DS. I don't know if this is what SO4 is, but the Japanese cutesy superhero anime video game style is starting to wear thin. I guess that's why I'm turning to more organic RPGs like 7th Dragon - it's big on customization, has a plot that's interesting enough, and has that old school humor that comes from the NPCs, and checking out stuff around town, like Lunar did. Fair 'nuff. I actually need to finish Etrian 1 sometime soon (I still have 2 sealed). I'm on the 3rd stratum I think. I recently finished Mother 3 after having it put on the backburner for Chrono Trigger DS. The sort of crap I'm talking about with SO4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNEz1P2F7cA Oh, Japan... Has anyone played them? Are they decent enough to buy, or should I just get Underworld? I've got the first two on PC, and Underworld on 360. I'd kind of like to sell Underworld, so I tried to run through the others real quick. Unfortunately, Legend doesn't seem to want to load the next level without crashing. So I don't have much an opinion, unfortunately. There is that whole remove levels from the retail disc and sell them to you later as DLC thing, though. Scroby 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Quick question on Fable 2, if you don't get online or download content is it worth it? Yes. The game is still really fun. I never did anything online with a friend until after I beat it and even then it was more so to just get items that I needed to find after I downloaded the DLC. Obi Chris Kenobi 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 Thanks for the feedback on Tomb Raider, think I'll see if I can find them preowned somewhere cheap. During my research I was looking at another EDIOS classic... Hitman. I can't believe they haven't done more Hitman games on Next Gen, did they really start to slump once they left the PC format? Angles Broken Fricken Neck 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2009 I had i believe it was Hitman 2 on the PS2 back in the day, and couldnt play it to save my life. I found the controls completely unresponsive, and theres something just plain wrong with playing a game where you are suppost to do it all without being seen. I may as well go outside and play hide and seek.

Well, you kind of have the company wrong; it's actually developed by IO Interactive, which is now part of Eidos. However the point itself is fair. IO went from the Hitman games and Freedom Fighters to Kane & Lynch. That may just be a hiccup, though. They're currently working on Mini Ninjas.

AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2009 Some details for Bioshock 2 are starting to get released. Loved the first one so I'll definitely have to pick this up for the PS3. Friday saw the Internet-release of at least two different sets of rumored features of BioShock 2, including the since-debunked rumors that the game would see the player fighting Soviet soldiers, as well as touring an undersea zoo level. Based on scans from the current issue of Game Informer magazine, trustworthy gaming news site Shack News vouches for a set of BioShock 2 details, swearing they are the authentic real deal details. So massive, massive SPOILER ALERT if you choose to click the cut and continue reading. Here's what we know about BioShock 2: * Players play as the "first ever" Big Daddy. * You rescue Little Sisters from other Big Daddies and can either harvest or escort them on their ADAM harvesting trips. * The game is set 10 years after the first BioShock. * There will be a multiplayer mode, but no details were given. * BioShock 2's enemies include the Big Sister, a grown-up Little Sister who is hunting you. * Some levels take place on the sea floor outside of Rapture. * The Big Sister will periodically pop up after you kill enough Big Daddies. Her arrival is apparently signaled by a Little Sister singing a song. * The Big Sister is described as fast and "the hardest thing in the game." She'll utilize telekinesis to throw objects at you or use them as shields. * Your drill overheats and cannot be used constantly. * You play as a Big Daddy and you'll be able to do that nifty shoulder bash move. * Upgrade trees are now more diverse. * The Incinerate plasmid allows you to throw a fireball or shoot a stream of fire, depending on upgrades. * Plasmids can now be combined. For example, mixing Incinerate and Cyclone Trap will result in a flaming trap. * Weapons and plasmids can be used at the same time. * You can now heal damaged turrets and bots. * Players will explore Fontaine Futuristics which is where the Adam energy is harvested from Little Sisters. Through this, you will learn how the Adam is recovered. BioShock 2 is set for release between August 1 and October 31, 2009 and will be playable on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, although which versions will be released by October isn't known. The Sea-Floor levels have me a little nervous. Personally, I hate underwater levels in every game (except maybe Super Mario 3), so I hope BioShock 2 won't involve swimming around...regardless, I'll suffer through it. Such is my devotion to BioShock. Source
