Brian Gewirtz leaves WWE writing team

-As was originally reported Tuesday in the WWE Newswire in the latest Torch Newsletter, Brian Gewirtz's last day with the WWE writing team was Monday. The head Raw writer heading into this week, Gewirtz is now moving to the movie script division of WWE. Sources say Gewirtz was burned out from the grind and ready for a creative change.

And that Steph hates Heyman and she's still director of creative, so there is no way Heyman will ever be a significant influence on the shows for an extended period of time (sure, he'll threaten to leave and they'll pay him to come back and use him for a month or two and then find some reason to put him back in his "advisory" position, but in the long run it won't make a lick of difference.)

 

Nothing will change in the WWE unless some outside force gets them to change. So pray for Steph and HHH to become christians and leave the business or for a plane crash with both of them on it, because time won't solve anything - it hasn't for the past 5 years and it won't for the next 5.

The IWC has reached consensus on two things. The first is Christ Benoit. The second is Brian Gerwitz is a campy, fart joke writing, piss poor writer. I see you're late to the party.

The business goes in cycles. Every ten years or so, you get some huge star like Vince Russo that comes in and fixes everything and takes the business to levels it's never seen before. However, no one actually knows when the next Vince Russo will be hired. In the meantime, we just have to put up with what we've got.

I'd say Russo helped with saving WWE. Vince did the writing, McMahon kept him in control for the most part, and Austin ended up being wildly successful in addition to having a large cast of charismatic characters to work with. It took a combined effort of a writer, Vince, and workers to make the Attitude Era successful. Oh and a shitload of luck. Can't forget about that.

 

Eventually there'll be another boom, as it does move in cycles (The parallel to now is the post-Hogan era, pushing guys with gimmicks that were successful, going back to old ideas, and having a dominant backstage politician who really isn't helping things), the question is when the cycle will return to the boom, as there's no guarentee that WWE will still exist to take advantage of it.

 

Now to get back on topic. Honestly I can't bring myself to care about Gewirtz leaving. He's only one guy on a writing team that consists of people just like him. Just less funny.

The cycle stuff is such a load of crap. If the writing is good enough, if there are interesting characters, etc then people will tune in. It's just that they've never really had that for a sustained amount of time. Hence the cycle bullshit.

There is no cycle......if you have good writing and interesting storylines....people will tune in.......bottom line....that goes for any show...

 

And if they do find a Russo or a new Kreski...it will NOT make a difference because Steph will still be the creative director....

I also think the cycle is bullshit, because if the guys at the top would step off the top spot and help continue a successful cycle of talent to keep the shows fresh, the business would be fine. However the guys with the top spots never relinquish the spot, and thus the company gets stale finding ways to keep them at the top and thats basically where we are at now. That is really what it comes down too when you think about it.
