LucharesuFan619 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Sean McCaffrey and DeclarationOfIndependents.net have received word from several different wrestlers that Matt Hardy is backstage at tonight's WWE RAW event. One source told DOI that Matt would be returning to WWE tonight, although that isn't a sure thing. This is interesting because as of a couple of hours ago, Matt's 90-day non-compete clause expired and he is technically no longer under WWE contract and therefore a free agent. Being that Matt has been taking a more and more aggressive stance toward Lita and Edge over the past two weeks on his website, TheMattHardy.com, it's possible that tonight will mark some time of appearance by him on RAW. Matt is currently scheduled to wrestle Christopher Daniels later this month for Ring of Honor, and he is also expected to get involved with TNA down the line, where he would join his brother, Jeff.
Matt Young Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 I'm not expecting him to make a return, but if he does, I will literally piss myself.
Dangerous A Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 If true, it's not that big a surprise. WWE figures if they tell Matt to jump, he'll ask how high. They'll let him work ROH, but not TNA.
SuperJerk Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 It wouldn't surprise me if that pro-TNA shit he posted was a swerve.
Guest *KNK* Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 It needs to pointed out, they had only booked Hardy for ROH up to August 13th in Chicago. Beyond that, no dates. Strange considering how he basically says he is in love with the product. You would think they say he was signed on beyond that.
SuperJerk Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 If Matt said he was in love with the TNA product, then we'd KNOW he's lying.
The Buzz Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Maybe...Roh only has him booked up that far because they want to give him a trial run to see how well he does before they decide whether to include him fulltime in the product.
Guest *KNK* Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 They had Gibson booked for a complete slate of matches upon working a deal with him. I think either Matt knew he would crawl back to WWE for the appeal of money or ROH isnt wanting to take the risk of booking him beyond the august double shot and then risking having to take him off or reducing his stock in the card.
Internet Warfare Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Actually a Matt Hardy return might be very possible considering the match scheduled for raw tonight is.
Dangerous A Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Matt is making pennies in ROH compared to what WWE would give him, and that's with WWE lowballing him. Bank that Matt has WWE as priority #1 if they come calling. TNA is probrably #2 because they can at least pay him something. ROH doesn't enough to where it's the only thing Matt could work. He'd have to supplement ROH with TNA or other indie bookings. Why go through all that hassle if WWE can eclipse all of that? Trust me, he'll put his feelings aside for the E.

I always tell people who ask me about the situation that money>pride, and as Ted DiBiase always said, "Every man has a price."
Guest *KNK* Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 He did explain in his recent entries that he is very set in terms of making a living (meaning he saved) Either he is being honest or he had his tracks covered.
SuperJerk Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Actually a Matt Hardy return might be very possible considering the match scheduled for raw tonight is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought of that, but didn't want to fan the flames of this rumor. Because we still don't really know if he'll actually be backstage or not.

If he is going to live to past 60, he would need to get more money because I don't see him being paid enough in the last 7 years or so to "set" himself up for life.
Jobber of the Week Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 I'd put a question mark on this one. The source is something I've never heard of before.
Fro Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 If this were legit, this would be all over the place. I also think they'd be hiding Hardy from everyone backstage like they did with the draft picks.
Dangerous A Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Until Meltz or Torch reports it, take with a big grain of salt IMO.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Let's not lie to ourselves. If Hardy's music hits on the PA system during Kane vs. Edge tonight, we will all MARK THE FUCK OUT.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 WWE would be stupid to hand the hottest internet story of the last year to TNA. They aren't competition...but why hand them a buzzworthy thing such as this...when you can just pay Matt Hardy to come back. Plus...the WWE seems to be heading in a more reality based direction anyway (Meanie/JBL).
snuffbox Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Maybe Ill actually watch the Edge-Kane match now...
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 If they were going to make peace, he should have came out during that awful wedding. Kane is going to have to find another program or fight Matt over Edge and Lita.
notJames Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Ho- -ly shit! Mark your calendars, boyos. You got your wish. Now let's see if they can pay it off.
Vern Gagne Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I'd still bet this DOI site got this news from another source.
Guest bort Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 DOI site is generally good for news although most of the time the news biased as they generally only report on the feds that they are in bed with.....there a good site for indy stuff overalll tho
SuperJerk Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 It wouldn't surprise me if that pro-TNA shit he posted was a swerve. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope. I'm not surprised at all.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 It wouldn't surprise me if that pro-TNA shit he posted was a swerve. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SWERVED
AndrewTS Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 The whole Matt thing was a work. And so was Brock leaving. I told you it was a work and that Brock was going to be back.
