Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 http://www.gawker.com/news/media/commentar...tire-111789.php Basically, Mallard Fillmore creator Bruce Tinsley is mad at Stewart for the fake Filmore strip found in "America-the Book", thinking that it would "Decieve people into thinking it was a real "Filmore" cartoon". Of course it didn't, because then, that would mean that "Filmore" would have to be funny or enlightenng. In response, Tinsley has made several anti-Stewart cartoons Wow, all he can come up with is a bad Dan Rather Joke? Um, I highly doubt Jon Stewart is a pedophile. Guest Joe_G Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I've flipped through the America book and it's pretty obvious the Fillmore strip was a fake. I can't imagine anyone thinking it was an actual strip--it's a parody book, after all. Tinsley must not think his audience is too smart. On the same page of the book, there's a fake cartoon poking fun at Doonesbury, but we don't hear Garry Trudeau bitching...
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Ugh, another reason not to like the worst comic strip ever.
SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Did that book come out a whole year ago? **pulls out personal copy** The cartoon in question appears on page 160, below a parody of a Doonsebury strip (which is just four static panels of a drawing of the White House with no captions). Above the fake Mallard Fillmore cartoon, this caption appears: Now Some of today's cartoons celebrate the current administration rather than poke fun at it. At the forefront is reporter-duck Mallard Fillmore, who is the White House's best friend among cartoon waterfowl. The cartoon itself says: Panel 1: (Fillmore standing in front of a factory, reading a newspaper) "Liberals want to tie the hands of industry with more environmental legislation. Panel 2: (Fillmore holding newspaper) "Why must we punish our most productive citizens with an income tax?" Panel 3: "Ooops! I forgot to tell a joke!" The cartoon is dated October 1, 1998 (Nothing particularly deragogatory there, except pointing out that the strip reads more like conservative indoctrination than an attempt at humor.) On the opposite page there's a Mad Magazine fold-in of Richard Nixon. On page 159 there's a fake Peanut's cartoon, with Lucy telling Pig Pen (who is holding a copy of "Socialist Worker"): "You're looking a little dirty there, comrade!" The fact that Fillmore's readers thought any of this was real kind of says something about Fillmore's readers...doesn't it? No, its not real. Nor are the naked pictures of the Supreme Court Justices. Morons.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 That comeback was about as strong as saying "OH YEAH??? SO!!" What a fag. Fuck Mallard Filmore. Its just a Mother Goose and Grimm wannabe. Least artwork wise.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 Is that supposed to be Jon Stewart or Rodney Dangerfield? I own the America book... fucking hilarious
Justice 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 I think the "Oops! I forgot to make a point!" line is fairly prophetic and appropriate with these ones. For us to mistake that one for the real strip, we'd actually have to read the strip in the first place.

Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Stewart should just sick Steven Colbert on this bitches ass. Stevie would rip this guy to shit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I get the feeling there's a part of him that wants The Daily Show to do a story on him (even if it makes him look like the stupid ass he is) for publicity. Those cartoons were God awful.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Well, looks like I am in the minority on this. I like the comic strip although I don't understand why he would be so angry about this being in the book. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Comic strip artists and comedians feuding? Please. It doesn't get any lamer than that. Watch out, I smell the next Pac/Biggie feud brewing. Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2005 Thing is with this comic strip it is pretty much the opposite version of a Doonesbury strip. A few years ago people wanted Mallard moved to the editorial pages since it dealt with politcal issues, however the stayed silent on Doonesbury. Seems like people aren't happy in the world unless they got something to bitch about.
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Yeah but the point is Doonesbury at least always makes an attempt at humor, I've seen Mallards that seemed like he thought he had 4 panels instead of 3.

The letters to the editor is 90% studip crap like bitching about gangsta rap from white suburban grandma's, a donut shop closing, and pepole bitching about the price of food at movie theatres. It seems like no one around here cares about real issues like the war, CAFTA ect, or even Rochester's amazing murder rate.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Family Guy is pretty much the same shit all the time. Random stuff happens, hope it's funny. Jon Stewart is a news type of show though, so they aren't really comparable. I don't see the point in bringing that up, other than the fact that you're offended that someone finds Stewart funny. By the way, 100 x 100 does not equal 200. Therefore, Family Guy is 10000 times funnier than Filmore.
