Guest drdrainoscott Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 According to the daily Figure Four Weekly update, WWE is planning on releasing numerous DVD's by the end of the year. They are all confirmed, and Bryan Alverez even read the previews in the update. In the fall, besides the already annouced three disc Undertaker set and the Ultimate Warrior set, there will also be a legends release focused on Jake the Snake. Then, just in time for Christmas, WWE will be releasing Screwed: The Bret Hart Story which will be a three disc set and the Ultimate Wrestlemania Collection, which is a box set of all 21 WM's. The set will be priced at around $300, but it can be bought in sets of five. All of these sound pretty good on the surface to me...
Dangerous A Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I just hope the Bret Hart set focuses on more than just Montreal '97. It obcviously has to be acknowledged, but enough already.
Guest Mordecai's Cathedral Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 A Jake Roberts DVD?! That'll be my first ever WWE purchase.
GreatWhiteNope Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 A Jake Roberts DVD?! That'll be my first ever WWE purchase. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm thinking it'll be a Coliseum Video transfer like the Andre DVD.
eiker_ir Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 3 discs for the Screwed DVD? is this just about the Montreal screwjob or a complete Bret DVD?
edotherocket Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I'm not liking the name of the Bre Hart DVD. If its 3 discs, it's likely to cover his whole career but the focus shouldn't be on Montreal.
Guest drdrainoscott Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 I'm thinking it'll be a Coliseum Video transfer like the Andre DVD. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, its the second release in the legends series (Greatest Stars of the 80's being the first. 3 discs for the Screwed DVD? is this just about the Montreal screwjob or a complete Bret DVD? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It sounded as though it spanned his whole career as in the preview it said something to the likes of, "Also includes all the details of Montreal '97".
Guest JMA Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 If the DVD was about Bret's full career, then why would it have "Screwed" in the title? It doesn't make any sense. And if it just focuses on the Montreal screw-job, then why is it three disks?
Guest StylesMark Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 But, that's what most people talk about, when it comes to Bret. Sad, but true.
Guest JMA Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 But, that's what most people talk about, when it comes to Bret. Sad, but true. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Montreal has already been discussed to death, though. I'd much rather the DVD focus on how wrestlers like Bret brought back an emphasis on technical wrestling and not cartoonish gimmicks.
Guest *KNK* Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Because "Screwed" is firmly entrenched in the lexicon of Bret Hart's name. It's true. Remember Bret was working with Vince to set this dvd up, im assuming Bret was ok with the name. I just hope Bret didn't get his way and they included the iron man with shawn in there.

Bret and Shane McMahon got in a fight over something about a year ago and the decision was made to remove him from the project. So, unless something has happened since then, Bret has nothing to do with this DVD.
Guest JMA Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Because "Screwed" is firmly entrenched in the lexicon of Bret Hart's name.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> He also introduced the word into the lexicon of wrestling itself.
Ravenbomb Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 yes! Jake Roberts DVD! My prayers have been answered!
Dangerous A Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 The latest Observer (the one dated for this monday, I get them early) says Bret and Vince are back talking, this time with no intermediaries. McMahon is attempting to get Hart to come to WM next year and be inducted into the Hall of Shame...er...I mean Fame as well as put out a DVD of his career. WWE is also trying to get the rights to Hart's career encyclopedia book because a) they know it'll be the best selling book in Canada and b) they want to neuter aspects of the book. They are going through with production of the DVD whether Bret is a part of it or not.
Danville_Wrestling Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I have my hopes up for the Bret Hart & Jake Roberts DVD's so I'll see how that comes out. With Bret talking with Vince again that's pretty cool as I want him inducted into the Hall of Fame. In fact, if they could get back on track and organize a match for a future WrestleMania that'd kick some serious ass as McMahon vs. Bret is about the last big match that hasn't been used yet.
Scroby Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Jeez I didn't know I had to start making my Christmas list this early.... 1. Jake Roberts dvd 2. Bret Hart dvd I honestly don't care for the Warrior dvd.
GreatWhiteNope Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I just hope Bret didn't get his way and they included the iron man with shawn in there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's already on Shawn's DVD - so hopefully they didn't.
Guest JMA Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I honestly don't care for the Warrior dvd. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same here. Although, Warrior's reaction to it could be unintentionally hilarious.

I cant see how they wouldn't. they love showing that match often as possible
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Did you guys miss the Wrestlemania box set? I know it will be hard watch with the WW"bleep" and blurred logos.
Guest *KNK* Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Did you guys miss the Wrestlemania box set? I know it will be hard watch with the WW"bleep" and blurred logos. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How does Blurred logos bother anyone? i dont get that.
Guest Ransome Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Did you guys miss the Wrestlemania box set? I know it will be hard watch with the WW"bleep" and blurred logos. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't have any of the other Wrestlemanias on video/DVD, and there are still some Wrestlemanias I've never seen in full (2, 4, 5, 8 seem to be impossible to find in any Adelaide video store anymore), so I'd be tempted to buy this boxset. I can overlook the blurring of Wrestlemanias 14-18, particularly if they pad out the Wrestlemanias with plenty of extras, interviews or bonus matches, which is clearly a possibility given the enormous amount of video footage WWE has access to.
Ravenbomb Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I'm glad the WM thing can be bought in sets of 5, I don't feel like getting the ones I've got again (I've got 2000, 17, and 20, I'm getting 21 soon and I can get 19 for free)
CBright7831 Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 I honestly don't care for the Warrior dvd. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same here. Although, Warrior's reaction to it could be unintentionally hilarious. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What was Warrior's reaction to it?

Dammit. I really need to reread things twice before I post. Will Warrior make anything off of this upcoming dvd?
Slickster Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 Warrior will get no $$ from this DVD. Apparently, he wanted to advert for his shoot interview inside the DVD case, but Vince said no (since it would benefit Warrior far more than it would benefit WWE). So this whole DVD set is being done without his cooperation. It includes bloopers from his interviews and WWE stars doing their best Warrior impressions as extras.
Placebo Effect Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 It includes bloopers from his interviews and WWE stars doing their best Warrior impressions as extras. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's going to be fantastic.
Fökai Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 ...copied from the DVDVR board... Street Date November 1: -WM 1-21 box set will retail for $299.95 and will include special trading cards and such. -WM 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, and 16-20 box sets will retail for $69.95 each. -WWE Legends: Jake "The Snake" Roberts will retail for $34.95 Street Date November 15: -Screwed: The Bret Hart Story will retail for $34.95. I can't wait. That eliminates about 50% of my paycheck, but I'm so picking them all up on their release dates.
