Songs you hadn't heard in ages

Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Freebird"

Hadn't heard it since I was 14 until Friday night when I saw The Devil's Rejects. Now it's the only song I've listened to for the past 2 days.

I have this big CD case of about 180 CDs or so. This weekend, I whipped out a random CD after just shoving my hand in.

the apex theory's "Topsy Turvy." It's not as bad as you'd think.

I saw the bee girl video for No Rain on vh1 at 3am a couple days ago.

Heh, so did I.

I hear "Rock of Ages", "Return of the Mack", "Hypnotize", and especially "Freebird" quite often.

For some reason, I've been hearing a lot of 10,000 Maniacs songs on DirecTV's Adult Alternative digital music channel lately. I also recently heard "Missing" by Everything But The Girl.

EDIT: Just now, the song "What I Am" by Edie Brickell/The New Bohemians came on. I love this song.

"Wheel in the Sky" by Journey. Love Journey and love the song, but the local classic rock station has started playing the holy hell out of this after not touching it for probably 5 years or so.

"My way or the Highway" by Limp Bizkit. Local modern rock station, after not playing this for well over 4 years, has recently rediscovered this "lost classic".

I heard "Wheel in the sky" 5 times in one hour while flipping amongst assorted San Francisco radio stations a few years back.

I heard NOFX's "Jeff Wears Beirkenstocks" for the first time in a LONG time when I bought NCAA 2006.

Last week on the 80s retro lunch on the light-rock station that plays in our dining room at work, I heard Scandal's "The Warrior" and almost creamed my pants.

"The Touch" by Stan Bush from The Transformers soundtrack came up on my ipod recently. I shuffle my music on my pod and since I have about 2,000 songs on that bad boy, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this one.

There's incredible nostalgia behind My Way by Limp Bizkit for me. It was from WM17, when I was in grade 11. A few months later, it was played ad nauseum in my car, the summer I got my licence. My radio was fucked, but the tape deck worked fine, so my buddies and I all made mixed tapes. When I say all did, I mean we all made one or two apiece, so I heard My Way about once every 6 or 7 hours.

Wheel In the Sky? Even more so. My brother and my favourite song when we were about eight. It's since become my soulful sing along drunk song(a buddy of mine and Red Baron's has video evidence of this). About a month after I adpoted it as my drinking song, I picked up my brother, whom I hadn't seen in about 5 weeks, and it was on yet another mixed tape, albeit in a different car. The volume was low and he said "what song is this?" I replied with "Our favouriter when we were eight."

"Wheel in the sky?" he replied. I marked out.

Naked Eye-Luscious Jackson

The guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Actually, anything by Rockell is on that list as well.

Today, a chef at work who reminds me a lot of KKK from here sang Ride My Pony by GenuWine, No Diggity by Blackstreet and None of your Business by Salt and Pepa, all of which answer the topic question nicely.

When I was in Planet Hollywood during my Florida vacation, the video for Soul Decision's "Oooh It's Kinda Crazy" came on, and I hadn't listened to that song in a good two years (despite it being on my computer). Since that trip I can't get that or "Faded" out of my head.

Last night at work I sang along with "Holy Diver" while walking across the loading dock. Pointing at people and making very serious faces.

"If You Could Only See" by Tonic has been getting ridiculous airplay around here lately, out of nowhere. Of course, it's not like there were any better songs on Lemon Parade, from what I remember.

It sorta makes sense you would hear a ton of Journey in San Fran, although i'm surprised it wasn't "Lights".

Thanks to XM, I heard Phish's "Wading In A Velvet Sea" for the first time since about 2000. Thanks to my friends CD collection, I listened to Steve Winwood's "Higher Love" for no reason at all a few days ago.

I had one of those digital music channels on while I was studying the other night and "Here Comes The Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze comes on. I've not heard that in years.
