Big McLargeHuge Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 This game's like being at Chavez Ravine, except with Hawkins getting all of Barry's heat. Another genius move by the Talented Mr. Sabean.
bob_barron Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Not hard to explain. Sox: Favourite AL team, have a casual interest. Braves: Favourite team out of all my sports teams, been a fan my whole life, nearly had a heart attack keeping track of tonight's game. I don't know what happened to the Braves fanbase, but Turner Field was rocking tonight. The atmosphere on the 3-0 pitch to Andruw was incredible
Bruiser Chong Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Didn't take long for the Macias substitution to bite the Cubs in the ass. Ugh. They get them at the corners with one out again and can't score. You jackasses have been flying out all night, why can't you do it with a guy at third and one out?
Big McLargeHuge Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Oh good, another walk-off win for the Cubbies. Whatever gets the Giants firesale going is fine with me.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Dammit, you jinxed it. If the Giants don't score, we could be here all night. Cubs are under the impression you can't win in extras with anything but a homer.
Big McLargeHuge Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Shit, sorry Cubs fans. And Macias didn't help by overrunning the ball.
The Czech Republic Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 When has Macias helped with anything.
Dobbs 3K Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Czech Republic...it's looking like the Brewers aren't going to even consider trading Overbay until after the season at this point, so that puts that rumor to rest, apparently. Also, Brewers got a big 7-2 win against the D-backs again last night. Looking for the sweep tonight, which would put the Brewers at an even .500 this season...
The Czech Republic Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 As long as they stay behind the Cubs, I sorta want the Brewers to do well, since their doormat status has grown tiresome.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Czech, I remember that commercial in your sig. I always thought it was funny. I can't believe the White Sox lost to the FREAKIN' ROYALS.
The Czech Republic Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 WOW! Look at those low rates!!! It's second only to Victory Auto Wreckers. I hope one day, I can rip the door off my car and get pissed off.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 I am really sick of Todd Hollandsworth. Murton's done nothing but good since being called up, we traded for another outfielder, and yet Holly gets all the playing time. Cubs about to waste an inning with a guy on third and no outs.
devo Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 If anybody cares, Baseball Prospectus (www.baseballprospectus.com) is offering a free trial of its membership services for the next week. I'm at work right now and haven't had a lot of time to check out the once-restricted articles and information, but what I've seen has been very impressive.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Dusty Baker is such an idiot. Zambrano was up to 109 pitches through seven. Is he done? Hell no. He's back out there for the eighth and prompty gives up two runs and the lead. I know the bullpen's tired, but you can't send out your tiring starter out there when he's already over 100 pitches.
JHawk Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Dusty Baker is such an idiot. Zambrano was up to 109 pitches through seven. Is he done? Hell no. He's back out there for the eighth and prompty gives up two runs and the lead. I know the bullpen's tired, but you can't send out your tiring starter out there when he's already over 100 pitches. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Who the fuck ever came up with the rule that a starting pitcher can't start an inning if he's thrown over 100 pitches? I can maybe understand something like that early in the season, but whatever happened to "if he's pitching well, keep him in"?
Bruiser Chong Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Because he was clearly tired. I think the type of pitches should be a factor, and Zambrano labored quite a few times today.
the max Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 Plus, given the Cubs track-record with pitchers, you'd think that 110-115 would be more than enough, since he's already given you 7. Don't want Big Z getting to be like Kerry Wood.
The Czech Republic Posted July 27, 2005 Report Posted July 27, 2005 The Yankees continue to scour the scrap heap: Hideo Nomo joins the team.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Sosa hits a hr over the scoreboard on Sammy Sosa Bobblehead night, Tejada had hit a 3 run hr earlier, its 4-0 in the 1rst.
Guest Brian Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 The Yankees continue to scour the scrap heap: Hideo Nomo joins the team. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He'll have six good innings and Joe Morgan will be talking about how playing in New York brings out the competitor in him, the fountain of youth, and how leprechauns should bunt.
KingPK Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 Man, if Minnesota actually had an offense, this wouldn't be just a 1-0 game right now. Leiter gave them plenty of chances to score.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Chen blows a 5 run lead in about 2 minutes on 3 HRs.
Gert T Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Terrible baserunning by Albert Pujols keeps St. Louis off of the scoreboard in the 1st.
devo Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Wright extends his hitting streak to fourteen games with a two-run double. 7-1 Mets.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 The Os have left the bases loaded 2 straight innings..they have 2 on 1 out in the 8th down 6-5. EDIT: Make that bases loaded in 3 straight innings. They are something like 0-42 when trailing after 8, so...
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Well..Ryan gave up 2 runs in the 9th, but then Javy Lopez hit a 2 run hr to tie it up again at 8 with no outs and 2 on. Now they have the bases loaded again (4th time) with 1 out and Mora up..strikes out and Tejada flies out. Os loaded the bases 4 straight innings and stranded all of em (12) with Tejada getting saddled with the 10 LOB. Whats the record for most LOB by one player?
Conspiracy_Victim Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 That's it, no one mention the Astros. Everyone just keep talking about every other team but them. Nothing to see here, move along. Dammit! I've jinxed it! *prays to the baseball gods for forgiveness*
