Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 3, 2008 AP tally: Obama clinches Democratic nomination WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama has effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, based on an Associated Press tally of convention delegates. The tally put Obama over the top Tuesday, ahead of the results from the day's final primaries in Montana and South Dakota. The Illinois senator becomes the first black candidate ever to lead his party into a fall campaign for the White House. Obama outlasted former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in a historic contest and now faces Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona for the presidency. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9...;show_article=1 EEEEEEE-YES! Obama creeps past McCain in opinion poll Democratic White House candidate Barack Obama has pulled ahead of Republican John McCain in the latest Gallup voter opinion survey, published Tuesday in USA Today. Obama lead McCain 47 to 44 percent, in a reversal from Gallup's findings a month ago, which saw McCain ahead of Obama 47 to 45 percent. Both leads are within the poll's four point margin of error. A matchup pitting Hillary Clinton against McCain saw the former first lady with a sharper advantage of 49 percent versus 43 for the presumptive Republican nominee, Gallup found. Obama was favored to win Tuesday's final two primaries in Montana and South Dakota and also to clinch the Democratic nomination, possibly in the same day. The poll found that 58 percent of Americans have a positive image of Obama, 56 view McCain favorably and 54 have a good opinion of Clinton. But President George W. Bush's approval rating was just 28 percent. And the poll depicted Americans as pessimistic about their buying power, with 55 percent saying they are worse off now than they were a year ago and just 26 percent saying the reverse. Americans have not been so gloomy since 1976, Gallup said, adding that such sentiment generally leads voters to oust whatever political party is currently in the White House. Double EEEEEEE-YES! Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 This general election matchup is going to be very interesting as it has the potential to totally redraw the entire political map that we've seen in the last two presidential elections. I will say that I see Obama winning Virginia, Colorado, Oregon, and maybe Ohio out of the current map. I think McCain will win Florida and has the potential to pick off New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Michigan, Minnesota, and California. I say California because McCain has high favorability ratings among Latinos and you just can't ignore the racial aspect of Latinos voting for an African-American as those groups have been in a lot of contention in regards to California politics as of late. If the Dems lose California they'll effectively lose the election but that is my "out there" prediction early on in regards to this race. Kinda sucks how Hillary rained on Obama's parade today with those VP comments because that is all the press has been talking about as opposed to Obama's historic moment tonight. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I don't really see McCain winning Minnesota, Jersey, or California. Michigan yes, but California would be nuts to go McCain already. Oregon has traditionally been a light blue-purple state, so it's not surprising the entire left coast should go Dem., but what I'm most interested in is seeing Obama's campaigning in the South, particularly in Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina. We all know he's fucked for some of deep Appalachia country- that video Jerk posted a few pages ago with some of the "typical" West Virginia voters still irks me- and probably won't win MI or FL, but I think he might come away with some really surprising victories elsewhere. Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Clinton is still going on with her "I won the popular vote" nonsense. Does she really think that anyone buys her count that excludes caucus states but includes a primary whose voters can't vote in the general, a primary where her name was the only one on the ballot, and a primary where no one campaigned and she won on name recognition? Does she really think that anyone buys her count that excludes caucus states but includes a primary whose voters can't vote in the general, a primary where her name was the only one on the ballot, and a primary where no one campaigned and she won on name recognition? He needs to leave her off the ticket. She'll do more damage to him and I wouldn't put it past her to destroy him just so she can claim "See, should have picked me" during the next primary. She knows if he wins, she's looking at another 8 years wait AT least and only 4 if he loses. She's too god damn dangerous to keep around and she can be kept much quieter if she's not the VP choice. She's not going to bring any votes with her and those Clintons are a crafty bunch. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I stand behind this prediction. Chris Wallace made a really good point on Fox News earlier tonight. Hillary spent the first 2 months of 2008 doing everything she could to loose what should have been a sure-thing presidential nomination, and spent the next four months doing everything to loose what should have been a sure thing vice presidential nomination. This is really beyond understanding... Bill Clinton unleashes over 'biased' Obama coverage Posted Tue Jun 3, 2008 9:41pm AEST Updated 5 hours 46 minutes ago Bill Clinton hit out at the media and Barack Obama's campaign for their attacks on his wife Hillary, as she faced up to the likely end of her bid for the Democratic White House nomination. In recorded comments posted on the Huffington Post website, Bill Clinton launched a tirade against journalist Todd Purdum for a Vanity Fair article criticising Mr Clinton for his role in his wife's campaign as "slimy," "dishonest", "sleazy" and a "scumbag." He added: "It's part of the national media's attempt to nail Hillary for Obama. It's just the most biased press coverage in history. It's another way of helping Obama." The ex-president's comments came on the eve of the party's final nominating contests in South Dakota and Montana, which are expected to herald Senator Obama's victory in the race to face Republican John McCain in November. Mr Clinton also criticised the Illinois senator for being slow to denounce Michael Pfleger, a Catholic priest who mocked his wife in racially-tinged language at Senator Obama's Chicago church. "They had all these people standing up in this church cheering, calling Hillary a white racist, and he didn't do anything about it," he said, according to the recording. "The first day he said 'Ah, ah, ah well.' Because that's what they do - he gets other people to slime her." The former president's spokesman, Jay Carson, told the Huffington Post that Mr Clinton had been upset about the "outrageously unfair article" in Vanity Fair but admitted his language had been "inappropriate." http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/06/03/2264210.htm
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 No Bill, Hilary did a damn good job sliming herself. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 No Bill, Hilary did a damn good job sliming herself. Of course, I didn't know a Democratic Nomination Primary was the Nickeledon Kids Choice Awards but alright Bill. That is a great mental image though. Now Hillary needs says "I don't know." The speech Hillary did tonight was the biggest load of sore loser bullshit I've heard in ages. This campaign has sucessfully ruined much of Bill's credibility, divided the Democratic party, created legions of screeching harpies, contained blatant race baiting-the list goes on. Just go away bitch.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I think many of your predictions are right SuperJerk but I have to disagree about Obama winning New Hampshire as well as West Virginia. I think that's only a swing of nine electoral votes to McCain but I see those two states going red. On the tossup list I have Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Minnesota (since it only went to Kerry 51-49 last time), California (because Obama only has a 7 point lead there in recent polls), Missouri, Colorado, and Virginia. Pundits will probably add New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, and New Jersey to that list as well. What might save the election for McCain is how much of a backlash Obama is going to get for beating Hillary. You've got those crazy feminists out there arguing that even the VP slot isn't good enough and that the election was "stolen" from Hillary. Stolen how? This is where the Dems have much of themselves to blame for some of this mindset as their whining over the "stolen" 2000 and 2004 elections work themselves into mainstream argument [despite the fact that the Dems should've won in blowouts in 2000 & 2004; its faulty execution in 2000 and picking the wrong candidate the doomed them in 2004]. If the Dems somehow manage to lose this election I'm just going to have a long laugh. This party ALWAYS seems to screw up a sure thing in presidential politics, they just got lucky Bill Clinton fell into their lap in 1992 when all the major contenders chose not to run against Bush Sr.

Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Yea, I don't either. I think Michigan is going to end up as a must-win for McCain. How do I get that map into a picture? I can't save it as a picture file when I go to the website to post my custom map here which I have McCain winning 274-264.
Guest Report post Posted June 4, 2008 I don't think that map is very good. Make Virginia and Colorado blue. Ohio, Michigan, West Virginia, New Mexico (if Richardson isn't VP), Missouri, Louisiana, North Carolina red. 274-264 for the Republicans. No way in hell Obama wins by 100. That's crazy talk. Imagine if Hillary gets the VP? Holy hell. All those states I mentioned would go red. All. How does one come up with Louisiana going democrat? Looked at the polls there lately? snuffbox 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2008 Claire McCaskill is going to go all-out for Obama in MO. If he wins there, she (and others) will view herself as Presidential Timber. Obama has already shown himself capable of a strong showing in Virginia. He will have the assistance of Tim Kaine, Mark Warner, and Jim Webb. John Warner will not be out on the stump for McCain. George Allen might but that is worthless. If people can wrap their heads around Obama not being an Evil Muslim or planning to enslave the white race or eradicate the Jews, places like Florida and Ohio are up for grabs. Ohio, as per usual, will almost certainly vote against its best interests, though. States that could be impacted by VP choices- New Mexico (Richardson), Kansas (Sebelius), Georgia (Nunn), and Indiana (that fucking twit). McCain has to be considering Romeny to help put him over the top in Michigan.
