UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Nominate 10 movies. They can be any type of horror picture you like, i.e. slasher, zombie, cannibals. The field will consist of 64 movies. After we have about 100 or so serious nominations, any obscure and/or personal favorite nominations will be looked at, with the person who nominated it being able to plead its case against <insert movie here>. Feel free to nominate any movie you like that YOU feel is a "horror movie". However, don't be discouraged if said movie is not accepted due to being classified in a different genre (i.e. Saw, Lambs, others mentioned). On Sunday night, I will attempt to organize all nominated films into a list, posted here. If you have any disagreement with films selected for the tournament, voice your opinion then, because this tournament will reflect the opinion of all involved...there will be no "special exceptions" allowed in the tournament. And with that, start nominating whichever films you wish!

Guest Biggles Posted July 30, 2005 Report Posted July 30, 2005 Here are mine: The Exorcist -- When I saw this, I was very glad to be an atheist, because if I had believed that it represented reality to some degree, I probably wouldn't have slept for a week. Great book, too. Nightmare on Elm Street -- It was my first real horror movie and I LOVED it! The Wicker Man -- It wasn't gory or anything like that but it just had you screaming at the TV pleading with that copper to run whilst he could cause you knew what was gonna happen! If i was him when they cornered me on the cliff edge i would've jumped just so they couldn't have the satisfaction of killing me!! Hellraiser -- I could never watch Hellraiser all the way through. The guy gave me nightmares esp. in the beginning when he's sewing his face on. The Haunting -- When I first saw it, it made my blood run dry. It made one believe ghosts exists but not wondering the halls in white sheets. It was more psychological fear that others have tried but fell short. The remaked is a dismal failure. The Blair Witch Project -- It's one of those movies people either like or they don't. See No Evil -- Blind girl pursued by homicidal maniac after discovering she's alone in a house with her massacred family.....hmmm, that seems to be a theme with what I find terrifying...never put two and two together like that before. Creepshow & Creepshow 2 Pet Semetary Halloween & Halloween 2

Corey_Lazarus Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 I'm crossing my fingers for TCM in the end. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm hoping TCM makes a strong standing all throughout, but maybe not to the finals.
dubq Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Se7en should at least get into the finals <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Err... Feel free to nominate any movie you like that YOU feel is a "horror movie". However, don't be discouraged if said movie is not accepted due to being classified in a different genre (i.e. Saw, Lambs, others mentioned).
dubq Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 lovecraft231 doesn't seem to grasp the concept of nominating 10 films.
gWIL Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 My Nominees: - Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> After seeing that, as I wasn't really paying attention the first time I read the thread, I take back any embarassment I had for nominating Jason X. Any thoughts on X and V? Personally I can't sit all the way through VIII.
Special K Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 That's gotta be a joke. It's the very worst of the series, Except for maybe that weird one when the guy's imitating Jason. No, VIII's the worst.
Brocklock Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Angel Heart Candyman High Tension The Hitcher The Fly (1986) Dawn Of The Dead (1978) Jacob's Ladder The Thing (1982) Audition Dead Alive
Secret Agent Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Nothing is worse than Jason X with VIIII a strong second.
Corey_Lazarus Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 Nah, I'd take Jason X over half of the series, actually. It's tongue-in-cheek, which is what I like about it.
DCMaximo Posted July 31, 2005 Report Posted July 31, 2005 My ten: Friday The 13th Candyman Zombie Flesh Eaters The House On Haunted Hill (original) Cabin Fever A Bucket Of Blood Ginger Snaps Slumber Party Massacre Friday The 13th Part 3 Texas Chainsaw Massacre
gWIL Posted August 1, 2005 Report Posted August 1, 2005 Since we can only do 10, cut out Halloween 666 and add Candyman. I can't believe I forgot Candyman.
