CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2005 4 stick in my mind: April 1997: 1) Bret Hart turns his back on the American fans, cutting one of my 3 or 4 favourite promos ever. 2) The Hart Foundation reforms the following week. May 1998: McMahon arranges a streetfight between Funk and Foley. Foley wins and re-pledges his alliance with Vinny Mac. June 1998: Probably my favourite Raw ever. A great D-Lo Brown/HHH match to further the Nation-DX feud, an awesome ending with a HIAC confrontation with Kane, Mankind, Taker and Austin, and best of all, a Tag Team Royal Rumble with I absolutely loved. Aero 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 Really, I remember loving almost every Raw between WM 13 and Survivor Series 97 because of the Hart Foundation, USA vs. Canada angle. Stand outs are... 3/31/97, Hart Foundation reformed 4/21/97, Austin's ambulence attack on Bret I remember loving the 7/22/02 Raw, post Vengeance. Opener was a decent Jeff-RVD ladder match. Then there was 3-Minute Warning debuting, and the AWESOME Rock-Eddie promo and match.
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 I have to favorite Raws One was from I believe either Dallas or Chicago when there was a 10 man tag main event match between HHH, X-Pac, Benoit, Malenko and Saturn vs Rock, Foley, Rikishi, and Too Cool. It was an awesome match and one of the hotter crowds I have ever seen. The other raw was from Atlanta when ECW reformed during the invasion angle. The angle went from great to ugh when it was revealed that Steph was the owner of ECW now. But for an hour, Raw was unbeliveable.

The Amazing Rando 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 No mention of the RAW where Jericho had his phantom title win over Jericho? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did he kick his leg from under his leg? Also, pretty much my favorite Raw ever was the Raw the night after...uhm...I can't remember which PPV, where Austin was fired for his Taker/Kane ref job and came back in camo gear to get Vince, who was in a wheelchair. I always say the Raws between the beginning of Dude Love joining with Vince and ending with SS98 are my favorite series of Raws ever. It had: Foley/Funk street fight Dude Love vs. Austin OTE 98 Taker vs. Kane vs. Austin double pin Austin arrives on Zamboni/Taker & Kane break Vince's ankle Shane hires Stone Cold back etc etc etc So much good shit for those few months. Si82 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 My favourite Raw ever was the 04/21/97 edition with the show long angle between Steve Austin and Bret Hart. It started with a challenge that lead to the streetfight, that lead to the ambulance attack, Austin being kicked out of the building and then the return of Brian Pillman at the end of the show. Just awesome stuff. The 01/31/00 was a good show to with the debut of the Radicalz and the 07/09/01 show with the return of ECW, other than the end.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 Any of you remember the show just before Summerslam 1998? It was pretty much the perfect textbook example of why RAW kicked the crap out of Nitro that year, just total action the *whole* two hours. Some highlights included: - Taker & Kane coming down together at the start, thus finally revealing they were in colusion with one another. Taker proceeded to beat the bleeding tar out of Paul Bearer while Kane turned his back. - Chyna, green nails and all, was trapped by the Nation, who parked a vehicle outside of D-X's door, only to be saved by Shawn Michaels (who then did commentary) - Kane vs Mankind, Hell in a Cell, with Austin coming from under the ring to beat the SHIT out of Kane and send Taker into a frenzy. - Taker using a 'wall of fire' on Austin and setting the ramp on fire as the show closed. Such. A. Great. Show. UYI
Guest Ransome Report post Posted July 31, 2005 The July 9 2001 Raw hasn't been bettered or equalled by any other Raw since. So many markout moments, although cluttering them all in one show was probably damaging the product in the long run. I mean, they could have had the surprise debut of RVD and Tommy Dreamer on July 9, while saving the actual ECW invasion (former ECW wrestlers turn (literally) on their WWF comrades) for the following week at the end of the show. Then we could have had three weeks of random ECW run-ins attacking wrestlers on Raw and SD, until finally Vince McMahon and hated enemy Shane McMahon are forced to meet. Begrudgingly, they agree to form a tentative alliance and that for one night only - in a week's time (this would be in about a month after the initial ECW debut). This would have given them time to play up the hugeness of the uneasy alliance between WWF and WCW to eradicate ECW. Then, of course, you have ECW joining WCW on what would be advertised as the 'biggest Raw ever', and Stephanie McMahon unveiling herself as owner (ugh) the following week. I'd call that a compelling 6 weeks of TV, whereas WWF used it all within an hour and a half - it's no wonder the Invasion had nowhere to go after that fateful Raw. TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 The 4/21/97 one with the ambulance incident has already been mentioned. Antoher fav is July 97 from Nova Scotia which ends with the Hart Foundation winning a flag match. Another fav is from September 98 which featured the Zamboni incident, Taker & Kane breaking Vince's leg, Foley's first turn towards comedy and a solid Kane & Taker vs Rock, Shamrock & Foley main event. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 No love for the 1993 Raw with HBK/Jannetty and Razor/Kid? Then again, X-Pac WAS involved. The Hart Foundation birth show was also a favorite of mine. I always hated seeing Bret and Owen feuding (in a good way, as in I wanted them to reconcile) and Bulldog and Owen were also semi feuding over the Euro title. Bret came out, gave a famous promo that was like "They are just making you guys fight each other, Owen I love you man, join up with me." I also really enjoyed the July 2001 Raw that was mentioned. The main problem with dragging a lot of this out was that the Invasion PPV was coming up and it was looking to be a huge fiasco with the remnants of WCW going against the WWF. Adding ECW to the mix was needed to add credibility to a horrible WCW side.

People who didn't even watch Wrestling were raving about it at school the next day. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd forgotten all about that! I could beat you any day of the week, twice on Sunday. Do I think you could whip my ass? Hell no. Do I think I could whip your ass? WHY HELL YEAH! Don't forget, when you deal with me, you're dealing with the WWF's toughest SON OF A BITCH! I will never forget the look on Austin's face as he flipped off and talked trash to Tyson. Of course, that also gave us a classic Vince line: "YOU RUINED IT! YOU RUINED IT AUSTIN!" Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2005 Off the top of my head, favorite Raw MOMENTS (there was never one whole episode that I liked): Bret's profanity laced promo "shooting" on Vince and the WWE after he lost the cage title match to Sid followed by a hot brawl with Austin. Bret's heel turn episode. HBK and Austin beating Bulldog and Owen Hart for the tag titles. Ahmed Johnson's heel turn joining the NOD. the NOD taking out Faarooq, Rock takes over. The Raw following WM14 where X-Pac returned and Kaentai debut. Jericho's fake title win. Jericho and Benoit beating Austin and HHH for the tag titles (the quad tearing match). Shelton Benjamin beating HHH twice on Raw. Batista finally, officially turning face by throwing HHH through a table. The 2004 draft night: Cena coming out on Raw for the first time ever, Benjamin and Haas breaking up and the respect they gave to each other, HHH "drafted to Smackdown", the hilarious reaction and his match with Guerrero. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2005 I dunno, the Jericho bait and switch never really did that much for me, possibly because I hate that type of angle. One that I liked from WAY back: Mr. Perfect beats Flair in the loser leaves town match, sending Flair back to WCW. This was like the 3rd Raw maybe ever.....from something like Jan. 27, 1993. I also went to a Raw taping with a killer Bret/Hakushi match, though I'm not sure the exact airdate. It was July, 1995.
The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2005 Austin beating Kane to win back the title the night after KOR '98 was a huge mark-out moment for me, but that happened in my hometown, so I'm probably biased. I wish I could score a tape of that from somewhere. A lot of my other favorites have also been mentioned, but a couple that haven't: - Austin kidnapping Vince, ending with "Bang 3:16". Just so over-the-top. - The simulcast with the final Nitro after Vince bought WCW. Have you ever seen a more surreal two hours of television? EDIT: Damn, how in the hell could I forget Jericho's debut in Chicago? That first promo with the Rock was GOLD, back and forth.
