It means to take it out of Franchise mode, to play later. When you finish it, you add it back into Franchise. Or something like that. I'll have to look over my guide and find out.

Explain to me how a 94-rated FS drops down to a mid-4th round pick by the Packers because that's what happened to me. I easily got the starting position, but I decided to piss and moan about my draft spot in the post-draft interviews.

So far my first impressions are:

1. I like the fact that hte menu scrrens were actually updated some from last year. Not a big deal but to me it makes a difference.

2. The whole cone thing threw me the fuck off and I lost because of it. My friends who have played a few games seem to like it though. Ive only played one game so far and need to adjust to new controls and I think Ill like this addition.

3. The other gameplay feels pretty much the same but I have been using the truck stick very effectively with bigger backs.

4. 04' had a bad ass sound track while 05' sucked kinda. Im very much liking the 06' track however.

 

I have yet to buy the game but I probably will with my next paycheck. While it is basically the same as 05' ther is enough improvements to warrant a purchase for myself. The hating by reviewers is stupid though. They're just bitter (and maybe rightfully so) 2K fansboys (mostly) who want their game back. It doesnt make sense to give an improved game a worse score than its predecessor though.

I'm not buying Madden for another month or two (by then the rosters, injuries, etc. etc. will be set and all that and I can jump right into a franchise) and I'm good with NCAA `05 right now. But, I bet if you buildup your guy and make him a Heisman winner and all that, you could probably go in the first round with all the "college hype".

No you couldn't. They are pretty much set on the 1st round. It follows the actual 1st round of the draft to a tee. There is a reason Terrell Davis goes "You ain't Braylon Edwards or Cedric Benson!"

I must have bad luck. I suffered a career ending injury. I had to start over as a QB again, this time being drafted to Carolina. Scored a 80% on the IQ test so this helped me gain some exposure via increased interview time. Should be a good superstar this time around, with better receivers around me rather than when I was with Arizona.

I suppose I'll go ahead and pick it up since the 2K5 series ended (which fucking sucks)...anybody know yet if the AI is as incredibly cheap as '04? (that's the last Madden game I had)

 

off topic to Matt Young: hey I have a major bug going on on my MLB 2K5 and was wondering if you had the same shit happen...everytime I go to play a game and the DH rule is in effect, my pitcher always somehow winds up in the batting order...also, in non-DH games, he always ends up batting like 4th or 5th...now when I go to roster manager and look at my lineups, they are set up how I want them to be...have you had this happen to you yet?

That happens to me too in my season often my opponents have the pitcher hitting, it hasnt happened to my team yet however. and today I was playing my Yankees season and I was playing the 05 ASG (Im a little behind the real life schedule but my yanks are like 83-3 right now) and jeter was voted the strating SS and tejada a backup, but the cpu put Tejada in as the starting dh for some reason.

 

 

anyhow I played madden a bit the other day instore at eb games. To tell you the truth NFL 2K5 had WAY better graphics not sure about gameplay cuz I only played for like 5 mins) I think Ill stick with 2K5 for now (besides I havent even come close to unlocking everything in the cribs mode-I NEED A GAMESHARK lol)

Played it, and its a step improvement from Madden 05, but lacks behind 2k5.

I'm liking the game so far. It doesn't seem as good as NFL 2K5, but I can't fairly compare the two yet since I have been so busy with work and Melissa that I have literally only had time for 2 games- A 37-0 thrashng of the Bears on Rookie and a 36-10 win over the Chargers in a re-enactment of the Packers' first preseason game (on Pro).

 

The passing game seems a lot easier in Madden. In 2K5, I couldn't even complete half my passes a lot of the time with Brett Favre. I'm loving the new passing cone, by the way. At the same time, the running game seems much more difficult.

 

I haven't played franchise or online yet, which will be the true test of the game. If Melissa can't go out tonight after getting in trouble for being way too drunk last night, I'll stay home, relax, and play some more Madden.

I can't even count the number of glitches in that game. Some of my favorites include the time I won the ASG as the NL in my franchise yet somehow the game decided that the AL won it. Or how most times pitchers who don't even pitch in the game get wins/saves. My rotation also resets itself after every game. I like the game but 2K Games really needs to fix this kind of shit for next year.

 

Anyway, I'm enjoying Madden and the new passing system as well. I'm 6-1 with my Bills franchise (on All-Pro), and this is mostly due to Willis McGahee and my defense carrying the team, which is pretty much like it is in real life.

Didn't see that yesterday. I actually party less now due to work and the fact that a few "good" friends whom I hung out with regularly turned out to be bitches. I do drink more often, however, since I can buy alcohol whenever I want.

 

Anyway, I started btoh a franchise and a superstar season yesterday, but couldn't finish a game on either because I was so tired. I started up the franchise since I wanted to play as the Packers, and in Superstar, I was drafted in the 3rd round, pick 11 to the Cardinals as an 85 rated QB who knocked Kurt Warner out of the starting position.

 

One final thing- Has anyone else had problems with the downloaded roster? The save became corrupted on my Xbox, so I deleted it, and now every time I re-download it, it's still corrupted.

I dunno where everyone bought their copy of Madden '06, but I just picked it up from Wal-Mart for $36.99.........Dunno why the hell it is that damn cheap, but it is.

As I have learned from Cheap Ass Gamer, Wal-Mart deals vary widely from place to place. Don't expect most Wal-Marts to be selling the game at that price unless it is in the ad.
