Madden NFL 06 Thread

and to Matt, are you becoming a big party animal now that you are legal?  :)

cool

Didn't see that yesterday. I actually party less now due to work and the fact that a few "good" friends whom I hung out with regularly turned out to be bitches. I do drink more often, however, since I can buy alcohol whenever I want.

Anyway, I started btoh a franchise and a superstar season yesterday, but couldn't finish a game on either because I was so tired. I started up the franchise since I wanted to play as the Packers, and in Superstar, I was drafted in the 3rd round, pick 11 to the Cardinals as an 85 rated QB who knocked Kurt Warner out of the starting position.

One final thing- Has anyone else had problems with the downloaded roster? The save became corrupted on my Xbox, so I deleted it, and now every time I re-download it, it's still corrupted.

Hey matt, the roster for download is corrupted. If you want good roster you either have to use the online roster or download some for action replay. I always see you on but I can't ever get to you to send a invite for us to play.

I'll ask this here, I playing Madden 05 (I'm to cheap to buy '06) in franchise mode and I have a really fast QB and then in the 2nd season I signed a better QB, I was wondering if there was any way to make the a running back because we are weak in that area.

I imagine you could make your QB the #1 RB via the depth chart, but I'm almost completely certain that you can't outright convert a player to a different position.

Well, didnt know whether to make a thread in sports, or do this here...but does anyone have a site with Updated rosters, and like, this season's offseason transactions and stuff, other then NFL.com?

(aka...I'm updating 2005 manually, even though I'll probaly still acquire 06, but the one time I played it..I pretty much liked 05 better so I think I'll still end up playing that this season, and well for some reason the search function on NFL.com doesn't work 96% of the time. So Im looking for a site with pretty much the same stuff.)

edit- I'm a dumbass. Espn.com. But anyways, the question can still be answered if there are others

In my franchise, the stats and records of certain teams are just totally unrealistic. For example, The Patriots finished with a 4-12 record. Jamal Lewis rushed for 2,600 yards and the 49ers finished at 11-5.

EA today announced that, based on internal data, Madden NFL 06 scored big at retail in its first week in stores and sold-thru more than 1.7 million copies, making it the biggest week one launch of a Madden NFL Football game in the franchise's sixteen-year history.

"Gamers were demanding the best Madden NFL Football ever this year and the response at retail indicates that we delivered the game that everyone wanted," said EA Vice President of Marketing Todd Sitrin. "Consumers have voted with their dollars, and the vote is in -- this is the best version of Madden NFL Football ever."

"EA ups its game for the best Madden yet," said Matthew Kato, Senior Editor of Game Informer magazine. "They delivered substantial innovation to the Madden franchise, making Madden NFL 06 a must-have title of the year."

"You'd think the big news in the locker-room this week was the start of the preseason, but all everyone could talk about was the new Madden game," said Ahman Green, All Pro Running Back for the Green Bay Packers. "Everyone had to check out their new ratings and the new features in the game."

Based on internal tracking, EA estimates:

* Madden NFL 06 had the biggest week one launch in the history of the franchise, selling more than 1.7 million units.

* NCAA Football 06 was the #1 selling video game on the PlayStation2 computer system in July 2005.

* With double digit sales percentage increases this year, both Madden NFL 06 and NCAA Football 06 are tracking well ahead of last year's launch sales.

* Within a month of NCAA Football 06 shipping and with Madden NFL 06 on store shelves only a few days, EA SPORTS football fans have played more than 1.5 million games through the PlayStation 2 console and on Xbox Live on the EA SPORTS Nation.

"The strong starts of NCAA Football 06 and Madden NFL 06 set the pace for a strong EA SPORTS lineup of titles this fall. Up next from EA are FIFA Soccer 06, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 06, NBA LIVE 06 and the rest of our EA SPORTS lineup," added Sitrin.

well since these jerks were afraid of competition from ESPN and the 2k franchise of course sales would be high. They have the only game on the market.

Can someone post the ratings given to Ricky Williams in the online roster update?

I don't play online and I want to create him without using his Madden '05 ratings.

Umm, just to remind people, EA didn't demand an exclusive NFL contract. The NFL demanded an exclusive deal and EA simply bid on it.

There are reasons to bash EA --- but this is not one of them. Blame the NFL for wanting this.

Importance. That represents a player's value in a trade. For example, if someone has IMP 99, you'd better be willing to give up half your offense and a limb of some sort to get that guy.

I am all about realism, so the new passing system is defiantly a plus.

And the running is FAR more reaslistic this year as well.

I've played 6 games now and I'm loving Madden. I'm not ready to say it's as good as NFL 2K5, but it's damn close, and it may surpass 2K5 once I get a chance to play it enough.

I'm 3-0 in my Packers franchise so far, and I've created a QB for the Superstar mode and got drafted to Arizona, although I have yet to play a game. Tomorrow, I go online for the first time for my week 1 league game.

I don't know about using the passing cone when playing against a friend, its seems like im tipping off my passes. When I passing cone off, it has quick release pass thing and I hated that last year. My team is the Vikes, using the Truck Stick with Micheal Bennett isn't so realistic giving he's not a power back, and is the directional blocking in the game?

Eh. I will once again stick to my NCAA football games instead of investing in this. I hate the cone passing thing, of course it could be that I haven't taken the time to learn it all the way, but still...ugh.

Plus, the Running game is just way to easy. Against the computer in all madden, against friends...everyone just makes their blocks and its all about going around them the right way. A little to unrealistic for me.

There is a way to do it. If it is a QB that you want to change, make sure you have 4 on your roster. Then you select a player to bring up the PDA screen with his information. You then click edit player, information and go to where it syas position and you can alter it from there. For different positions you can make changes. However, you can't make a QB a OL. But when you do this, it can dramatically alter their rating. I remember signing Tim Couch as a free agent, but I changed himf rom a Qb to a WR and he was rated 40 overall down from 80, and I was able to sign him for 350k.
