devo Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I want to give David Wright a handjob. He's going to be a superstar. Well said. Great game for the Mets. Benson turns in a splendid performance (8 1/3 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 ER) and Wright goes 4 for 5 with 6 RBIs. Score ends up at 9-1 in a nice bounceback from yesterday. Also, the A's - Angels game has been great so far. The fans are spectacular.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Ryan Howard celebrates becoming the Phillies full-time 1st baseman this year by hitting a grand slam in the 9th to beat the Dodgers.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Fuck, I missed the kid falling into the Yankee backstop net. Do they have a clip of it or anything? Oh yeah... and the hidden ball trick.... FUCKING GENIUS.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Between Thome's injury and Howard's slam, I think it's safe to say I'm not going to see Ryan Howard back in Scranton again.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 With that September schedule, the Phillies are gonna need a 12 game lead in the Wild Card heading into that month. It's ridiculous. They can't defeat the Astros or NL East...and it's all them. Fortunately, I'll be dressing up in costume for "Latino Family Celebration Night" as the stadium, complete with sombrero, poncho, and maracas, with friends on Sept. 7th, in hopes of a victory. No less insulting than the Padilla Flotilla, methinks.
CanadianChris Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 There's a three-hitter going through 6 1/2 innings in Toronto. That's three hits for the Tigers and Blue Jays COMBINED. Jays lead 2-0 on a two-run homer in the first.
sfaJack Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Thank God for rain in Chicago right now. Maybe it'll get rained out so that the Cubs won't stumble through another loss and we won't be subjected to Jose Macias LEADING OFF while Matt Murton toils away in the seven hole. Fuckin' Dusty...
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Please tell me that was conjecture, and that the lineup in which Jose Macias led off was not yet posted. Please.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 http://www.baseball-reference.com/nonmlbpa/formaca99.shtml If the Cubs sign him now, he'd be a vet by the time he's 20. Dusty gotta love those!
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Dusty's not gonna be running this team in 20 days, let alone 20 years, with any luck.
sfaJack Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I'm sorry to say that it's not merely conjecture Czech. The lineup posted on MLB.com Gameday (which is showing 'rain delay'): Macias, RF Perez, 2B Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Garciaparra, SS Barrett, C Murton, LF Patterson, CF Maddux, P
Fartsauce Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Jays ended up winning 2-1. They've won 3 in a row but haven't been able to pull together a major winning streak all season. The lack of more veteran leadership is the cause I think as the team is very young. It's still frustrating to see them win 3 in a row then lose 3 in a row and repeat the process.
sfaJack Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 It's still frustrating to see them win 3 in a row then lose 3 in a row and repeat the process. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll take that over the Cubs' routine of "win three, lose eight"...
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 What's scary about that Cubs lineup is that Macias is carrying a better OBP than four of the others.
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 What's scary about that Cubs lineup is that Macias is carrying a better OBP than four of the others. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So which? Neifi, Nomar, Maddux, Patterson?
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Well Maddux, being a pitcher under a guy who strokes it to the sacrifice bunt, I wouldn't expect to get on base much. There's no excuse for the futility of Corey Patterson, who was supposed to be our leadoff man.
CanadianChris Posted August 11, 2005 Author Report Posted August 11, 2005 It's still frustrating to see them win 3 in a row then lose 3 in a row and repeat the process. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm actually optimistic that they can break this trend this weekend against Baltimore. Who knows, maybe they'll still be in it by the time Halladay gets back.
Fartsauce Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 2 weeks on the road is going to be tough.
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I think at this point, I need to just enjoy Pat and Ron as a commentary team since this team's goin' nowhere. Just now, after Ron describes how to break in a glove, Pat: "Wow. Spitting, leather, oil, that sounds like a party! Good times!"
The Czech Republic Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 "NO! THE ADDAMS FAMILY AND THE MUNSTERS WERE THE SAME SHOW!!" Ron Santo is the new Harry Caray
Fartsauce Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Cameron and Beltran both collide in the outfield. Not looking good.
devo Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Not at all. That's the worst baseball collision I've seen, live or otherwise. Both men are out of the game, and Cameron looks to be seriously hurt.
fairtoflair7 Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Oh Man...horrible, horrible collision....
Bored Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Eric Chavez's three-run homer in the bottom of the 7th erases a four run defecit and ties the game at 4-4.
devo Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Terrible game for the Mets. Their road hitting reverts to its usual shitty self, wasting a great start from Glavine, and I wouldn't be surprised if Cameron's out for the year.

It looked much worse, though.
MikeJordan23 Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Angles lose when Rodriguez misses a ball getting thrown back to the mound. lol
Guest Fishyswa Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 I haven't seen the collision yet, but my scumbag local news actually teased the collision, showing the video in slow mo right before they collided, saying 'see what happened at 10'. So disgusting. And why does A-rod seem to be striking out so much lately?!
