King Kamala 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Tommorow night, the Royals up against the As. Starting pitcher for the Royals, Jose Lima. Starting pitcher for the As, Rich Harden. Even with the As struggling, I still don't like the Royals chances. I predict they'll lose at least one more. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they lost a game today, despite the fact they're not playing.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 The Yankees don't have to fuck up. Toronto's good enough to make a run on their own. And while we're looking at the standings, the Twins have pulled to within 4 games of the wild card with their four game winning streak.
Boon 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 The Yanks have ten games left w/ Toronto- we'll just have to wait and see.
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted August 18, 2005 "The Yankees were swept in their lone series against the Royals this season." Key word, lone. We were in the middle of our worst slump this year, they just got a new manager. Replay that only with them in a slump and us being angry. Should work out well. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Bobby Abreu's two run double scores the only two runs of the game and gives us sole possession of the wild card. Of course, it's all empty numbers.
the max 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Hollow numbers, al. And that two-run double was luck.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 The Nationals may have the most pathetic offense of any contending team in baseball. I didn't care who won, but watching some of their opportunities to score today, only to see them blow it everytime, was frustrating.

Mik 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 I can't wait until the Marlins play the Phillies. I might have to convince my girlfriend she needs to visit her parents in Philadelphia just so I can go see one of the games. They've won every series since they split 2-2 with the Cards. Another shutout tonight and Burnett throwing tomorrow. It's hard to not be optimistic with the pitching staff.
devo 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Kind of a weird day for the NL Wild Card, mainly thanks to the Washington - Philadelphia doubleheader. With every team in the race having played, here are the Wild Card standings. Phillies 65 57 .533 - Astros 64 56 .533 0.5 Nationals 64 57 .529 0.5 Marlins 63 57 .525 1.0 Mets 61 59 .508 3.0 Gotta admit, I thought the Phillies and Nationals would be out of it by now. This is gonna be a hell of a race.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Yea, these are going to be some of the closest races for the Wild Card in recent history with more than three teams in both the AL and NL with plausible chances at winning it. Anyone think that if Bonds returns the Giants could stage a late September rally and win the NL Worst? Better yet, if the Padres hang on and win with a sub-500 record and somehow WON the World Series, would there be a cry for MLB to revamp the way the playoffs are done? devo 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Anyone think that if Bonds returns the Giants could stage a late September rally and win the NL Worst? Well, right now they're not out of it by any means. Six games is gonna be tough to overcome this late in the year, but not impossible. Bonds might be the boost that gets the Giants to the top in the West, but it's extremely hard to determine how good he's going to be when and if he gets back. Better yet, if the Padres hang on and win with a sub-500 record and somehow WON the World Series, would there be a cry for MLB to revamp the way the playoffs are done? Considering that they would have won the division, it's hard to imagine what MLB could do. The division system isn't perfect, but it's hard to imagine one that better suits the league's needs. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2005 Anyone think that if Bonds returns the Giants could stage a late September rally and win the NL Worst? No. It'd still be too little too late. Even with Bonds, I still feel that the Giants are a really bad team.
devo 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2005 Great game in Queens tonight. Seo turns in an amazing, entertaining performance (8 IP, 0 R, 4 H) with like ten thousand Koreans cheering him on, and Reyes has a terrific night (4 H, 3 SB) in a 1-0 Mets victory. Seo's been incredible. He's given up one run in his last three starts.

Mik 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2005 You want to talk incredible... how about the Marlins pitching? Willis: CG Shutout Beckett: Shutout Burnett: Coming out in the 9th for a CG shutout. And with Washington, Philadelphia, and Houston all having lost or losing, we can be looking at the new wildcard leaders. Alright, alright, alright.

But those are all fairly proven guys, whereas Seo is coming off of designation to Norfolk and wasn't expected to be nearly as good. And the Marlins would just be sharing the lead. Big McLargeHuge 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2005 Tyler Walker blows it in the 9th for the Giants. Cards score 5, yes, 5 to win it 5-4 after a great start by Brad Hennessy. God hates me. With a vengeance. Fuck this crap.
