Normally I don't watch american award shows but Daddy Yankee , Don Omar and Tego Calderon are gonna be on it. They are not my favorites but they are still repressenting Reggaeton...my favorite music genre since I was 7, I have about 270 cd's and have been to 30 concerts..I was even willing to ditch my girlfriend's 15th birthday party to go to a concert. Reggaeton is a mix of Jamaican dancehall , Dominican Bachata and Merengue and Puerto Rican Salsa. I am also really glad that finally people are noticing the Caribbean hispanics(I hate that word but oh well) and not just Mexicans. I remember one thread about Carlito where someguy said "why are they calling him caribbean if he's spanish?" well anyways....

Daddy Yankee is nominated for MTV2 award for his song Gasolina(The video was filmed in my country Dominican Republic and the beat was made by Luny Tunes who are Dominican Reggaeton producers) he is the most internationally known reggaeton person(not the best though)

Don Omar I don't know what he's going to be doing there but before Daddy Yankee he used to be the most famous one. His most famous song is Dale Don Dale.

Tego Calderon my favorite out of the 3 and he is my 5th favorite overall.

Well enough about that...oh and the Alicia Keys video Karma was also filmed here in Dominican Republic so yeah :D

Why doesn't Shakira get more love? She has a much better body then any of the pop singers and can flat out sing as well.

Holy shit! Don Omar did a bit of his song "Reggaeton Latino" and Tego Calderon did "El Abayarde" and Daddy Yankee did "Gasolina"...I'm glad they were repressenting Puerto Rico only as Don Omar had a Puerto Rican flag on his shirt and on the background and after Tego was done he said "Viva Puerto Rico".

I hate it when they put us all together in U.S.A using the words "Latinos" or "Hispanic" we are all different and individuals. I feel proud tonight :D

Ugh, 2 hour was 2 more than I needed of that. I knew Puffy, or P Diddy, or Did He Pee or whatever was full of himself...but goddamn! This is a little much.

This year's show basicaly made me forget that rock music was played at all on MTV.

I guess the only real thing of note was Tony Yayo and 50 cent going off on Fat Joe after their song, calling him a pussy boy and a hundred other things that got bleeped out.

How so?

Green Day won at least three awards, including video of the year, and there were at least two "rock" performances. I only saw a small amount, so I may be missing something.

I did laugh when it looked like Diddy was channeling the spirit of Flair, when he started undoing his jacket and gave his watch away. I was expecting him to end up in boxers and a shirt wooing and dropping elbows.

Did anybody catch exactly what 50 Cent said? I'm curious to see if he was firing at everyone, or just more obscenities in Fat Joe's direction. I'd also like to know if, at some point, he took credit for shooting Suge (which I assume is what that fat fuck was referring to).

Fat Joe's simple but funny remake: "I feel real safe in here. All the police tonight provided by G Unit".

50 Cent: "Fuck Fat Joe. Pussy boy, fuck him. Dick loving faggot." The same shit he has been saying for the last 4 months.

When I was in the UK for work a year or so ago, I watched an awards show. It felt very strange to have no idea who most of the celebrities were, and to not really understand their slang or lingo, and to not really like most of the music.

I felt the same thing last night while watching the VMA's.

Anyone get that "I feel like I'm on acid and nothing makes sense here" feeling when watching the show last night? Between the ridiculous stage set-up, odd acting and LOOKING celebrities (Why the fuck did Hillary Duff end up following the Lohan cracked-out anorexic look?), and goofy segments that really had no right to even be on the VMA - it was just a very odd produced show this year.

VMAs are the only awards show I go out of my way every year to watch, and I'm generally not the high-brow, "I'm too cool for this" type of guy, but this show was a trainwreck in every way imaginable.

Puff Daddy, MC Hammer, Mariah Carey, Beavis and BUTT-head, Green Day and a Biggie tribute? What year is this again?

The "anything can happen" theme was kind of lost on a show that 90% of the winners were predictable. Hammer was the biggest surprise, and the only thing that was surprising was that someone at MTV thought it'd be a good idea.

I'm already looking forward to next year's hype, when they replay the behind the scenes from this year's show with their revisionist slant in full effect.
