EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 Did anyone catches JR comments on RAW about giving the Warrior an open mic to say whatever he wants on ByteThis but, he hasn't. Then Lawler had to say that was because Warrior still self destructing. Why? Just because Warrior doesn't want to get on ByteThis when there is nothing in it for him and give WWE a bunch of free pub doesn't mean shit.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 From Lords of Pain who credits pwinsider.com The Ultimate Warrior DVD was officially released today and FYE retail stores have an exclusive second disc included in the Ultimate Warrior DVD package. Unfortunately, the exclusive second disc is pretty bare bones to say the least. Here are the matchlistings on this bonus DVD. 1. Warrior v. Hercules (Madison Square Garden, 4/25/88) 2. Warrior v. Sgt Slaughter (Saturday Night's Main Event, 4/27/91) 3. Warrior v. Macho Man Randy Savage (WWE Championship Match, Summerslam, 8/29/92) Yes, that's the entire contents of the second DVD. Only three matches and nothing else. There are no extra interviews either, just those three matches.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 Anyone know how much it's going for at FYE? I'm a collector of old school crap, so I may still get this if the price tag isn't insane.
imajackoff? 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 the FYE website has it at $13.99!
genius33 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 just picked it up for 19.99 at FYE, same price as at target but with the extra 3 matches, so good deal!
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 That's pretty lame about the 2nd disc, but I did like the SummerSlam rematch even though it obviously wasn't as good as WM 7.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 Well, what would you expect from a store-exclusive bonus disc?
Human Fly 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 Just finished watching this and it was not the burial I expected it to be. Steve Lombardi, Ted Dibiase and Hogan seemed to be the ones who said the most good things about Warrior, Lombardi especially. At one point you would have thought that Warrior's last name was Patterson with the kind of verbal fellatio Lombardi gave him saying that after Warrior won the title he matured as a man, improved on the microphone, turned into a good performer and was a good draw. Heenan and Bruce Pritchard were in total burial mode. Ric Flair did not say much but it was obvious he dislikes the Warrior highly. Slaughter was halfway between the two, and I am not counting Vince because Vince is Vince. Jim Ross talked a lot about what "we" tried to do for him, but Ross was not even in the company for Warrior first two runs so I do not know why they had him talking like he was there. Several people talked about how they had to book short matches for Warrior because he could not go in the ring. They made it sound like it was a miracle that the Warrior was able to survive in the workrate intensive environment of late 80s - early 90s WWF. If half of the guys on the DVD say that Warrior had great charisma, was crazy over with fans, and could work good matches with the right people then wouldn't that just be booking to his strengths. Another thing that stuck out was Vince and co. made it sound like it was ridiculous for Warrior to sue about his character and he was an idiot for trying. But then at the end of the feature disclaimer popped up at the end saying "Ultimate Warrior is a trademark of Ultimate Creations Inc." Does anyone know what the result of that case was? It will be interesting to see the two sides reactions to this. On the one hand I cannot imagine that the Warrior will be too happy and will probably right a long web commentary about how Vince is afraid of him and that he will not kiss up to Vince, etc. On the WWE side what do they do if this DVD sells like crazy? I went to Best Buy today and got it at around 6 pm and there were only a couple left. Maybe Warrior can come back for another run like Animal.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 28, 2005 DiBiase didn't say anything positive about Warrior.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 Warrior's rebuttal about the DVD situation: http://ultimatewarrior.com/09.27.05DVDII.htm Funny stuff, even though I don't know/care how much of it is actually true.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 Oddly enough, the person I felt the worst for was Hogan of all people. Hogan DID do alot for that guy and his lack of dedication to wrestling really did shit on the rub Hogan gave to him. Fuck Warrior.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 Well, what would you expect from a store-exclusive bonus disc? Well, some more matches would have been nice.
Perfxion 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 The problem is that there is only one Warrior match left to do that is any good. That is 89 Summerslam vs Rude. Only thing else I can think of is the SNMV with LOD vs Demolition. But I think that match should have been on the LOD DVD.
Aero 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2005 I just bought it today from FYE just for the sake of getting the bonus disc. It was either there or Suncoast Video anyway. I watched this with my brother since we were both Warrior fans way back when. We both loved the part about how Warrior's promos made zero sense and they clip to one after the other. Christian's immitation on WM VI was hilarious. This was actually the first time I've seen any clips of the Halloween Havoc 98 match with Hogan, and it's so bad, it's funny. I knew it was bad, but hearing guys like Bischoff and Hogan among others actually saying it might be one of the worst matches ever was surprising. The fireball of doom was gold, though. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 at least the second disc has savage vs warrior from summerslam anyhow I saw this today at sam goody and it was only 19.95 tthey also had the taker set on sale for 24.99 (instead of the usual 35 bucks) but im short on cash so I got neither. no jesse commetary makes me mad but as long as it is on the wm box set no worries (how come jesses voice is heard on hogans dvd from 2002 then?) should have known since they edited jesses voice from the stras of the 80s (and in the setamboat profile his voice is pretty much taken off the highlights of the savage stemboat wm 3 match) I might wait now until this is cheaper since best buy only has it for 16.99 for the single disc version (i dont have an FYE store near me so Im screwedI guess)

I've seen it generally around 16.99 to 22.99...I've never seen a WWE dvd reach over 30 bucks except Flair's dvd and that was only at Suncoast.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2005 I found a lot of stuff said on this DVD to be a load of bullshit. It was truly hilarious to see guys like JR badmouth the Warrior's in ring ability considering they have matches now with two big lugs like Warrior and Herc out there stinking it up and then praise these rookies to the hilt. The Warrior got leagues better from 1988 to 91, he really did. Take a look at his early promos where he ranted and raved incoherently about spaceships and all that crazy shit. Then look at his more coherent interviews when talking about Macho and DiBiase. The sad aspect is seeing how much this Warrior stuff doesn't hold up nowdays. He's very much of his time period, if you see him you'd have little doubt he was around in the late 80s/early 90s. He's certainly not as timeless as Hogan, Savage, etc. Overall I didn't really like the DVD. Yeah he might be a goof but when I was a kid he was still one of my favorites and I didn't really care for him being trashed on this DVD.
Papacita 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 "How must I prepare? You must ask yourself: "Should I jump off the tallest building in the world?! Should I lay on the lawn and let him run over me with lawnmowers?! Should I got to Africa and let him trample me...with RAGING ELEPHANTS?!?!?!" That's gotta be the best wrestling quote ever. Seriously, nothing else tops that.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted September 30, 2005 So what's the word ? Are the clips of his goofs on the DVD? I'm also hearing both yes and no as far as the "ultimate impressions" feature
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 What's funny is that they had guys like JR trashing those crazed, awesome Warrior promos. Meanwhile guys like Jericho, Edge, and Christian thought they were bizarre and yet cool....and I found myself agreeing with them. Once Warrior got away from the ultra weird early characterization he became quite effective on the mic.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I can totally see Edge, Christian and Jericho thinking that way, because they are all around the same age and were teenagers at that point.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 30, 2005 It seemed, to me, that they were mocking the promos more than anything else.
CanadianChick 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Can anyone tell me, for curiousity's sake, who were the batch of current wrestlers featured on the DVD? Is it just the Canadian Trio to throw in funny quips in there?
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Well, Hunter. And Hogan, I suppose, counts. DiBiase didn't like him. Lawler didn't like him too much.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Question: How does the DVD end? Do they mention Warrior's recent speaking engagements?
Aero 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 The DVD basically ends right after WCW. They talk about how he wanted too much money there, and he left. JR quickly glosses over Warrior's speaking tours, saying that he'd like to be there for one because it would be interesting. I believe DiBiase or someone comments that Warrior speaking is insane or something. They don't mention any of the incidents about his gay remarks or anything, though. The final minutes are basically everyone giving final thoughts. Flair, DiBiase, and Heenan each get one last insult. The final thoughts go to Jericho, and then Christian, who both actually praise him from what I remember, saying he'll always be fondly remembered by the fans basically. CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2005 The big question is: Is it worth the time and money? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, it really is. It's an entertaining hour or so. When they get to the interviews, showing the highlights I was on the floor laughing at the sheer nonsense. Keep in mind there is alot of confession that indeed the guy did make quite the impact. Which is why it is so sad that he became who he did.
