Seriously how can you not like John Sterling? Cleveland is beating up on the Royals and the White Sox and Twins are 0-0. God if the White Sox lose this game they are only going to be up a game and a half and Cleveland still has 3 games left agains them.

Maybe because hes an annoying homer, never says anything beside talk about how amazing the Yankees are, doesn't know a home run from a flyout, doesn't give any details on whats happening in the game, and basically totally blocks off Susyan Waldman (actually not a bad thing).

Am I missing anything?

Sheffield is hitting amazing since he got injured and just hit his 30th homerun of the season. Go figure. Mussina pitched a very good game today and would have been better without the two errors. I was joking about Sterling but I love listening to Mike and the Maddog when they play his homerun calls and his final out calls.

Atlanta better hope that the Phillies win the wild card because if Cox has that little confidence in his bullpen, they're going to get sent home by Houston in the first round again this year.

Exactly, though. Would YOU trust that bullpen? Hudson pitched eight scoreless innings and we couldn't put a run on the board to justify going to our bullpen.

EDIT:

VICTORINO!

"An AA-Bomb, for AA-Rod"

"Bernie goes BOOM!"

It's also pretty funny, the difference between the way he calls a close Yankee win and a close Yankee lost. "Yankees win! Thhhheeee Yankees win! Yankees win a tough one! The gritty, fighting Yankees! Oooooh what a win!" compared to "Strike 3, Yankees lose. So the Devil Rays win."

Wow the Royals came back from being down 5-1 to Cliff Lee and the Indians to tie the game off a grand slam and the White Sox go up 1-0 against the Twins.

Aaron Rowand sure makes a lot of bad breaks for flyballs. His latest blunder results in a double and Mr. Jenks blows yet another game. Indians don't look like they're about to give up their lead, so we're looking at a 1 1/2 game difference in the AL Central, people. This is incredible.

The white sox do have a decent lead on the wild card though. Even if the White Sox blow the lead they are still 2 games up on the Yankees and 3 games up on the Red Sox. What helps either the White Sox and the Indians since they both have better records than the Yankee and the Red Sox is that the Yankees and the Red Sox spend the final weekend playing eachother. So it is highly impossible for the White Sox to miss out on the playoffs.

Would it really matter if the White Sox made the playoffs if they somehow choke and don't win the division? Do you honestly think they'll be remotely ready to play after something like that? They're a 3-0 sweep waiting to happen.

Well the Yankees in 2000 pretty much backed into the Playoffs and they were HORRIBLE during the month of september. And this is the Yankees team that went on to win the World Series.

What are the Phils/Braves head-to-head stats?  What happens if they finished tied?

Hey, ya never know...

According to the Braves radio crew this morning the Philies won the season series 10-9.

I can't believe everyone's focusing on the White Sox "collapse". They still have the second best record in baseball, and they've known they were going to make the postseason for about three months now. Sure, Cleveland might catch them for the division, but there's no way they're going to slip below both Boston and New York. Now if you want a collapse, I think the Red Sox would be much more appropriate. Not only did they lose a large divisional lead, but they have no wild card to fall back on either. Going from the defending World Series to missing the postseason because of a mediocre August and September, now that's a legendarily fun collapse.

Meh- most Sox fans are just focusing on the last series w/ NY. BTW- after the Pats won their first Super Bowl, they didnt make the playoffs, then went on to win two more.

And legendarily fun? Fun for you, maybe, but it's certainly not legendary- the lead was never more then 5 games I think.

I wouldn't mind seeing a fresh playoff picture, though- after the past decade, Boston v. NY is stale. I hope Chicago and Cleveland both make it- make for some interesting series.

There are 10 games left in the season. For all we know Chicago can have a historic collapse and miss out on the playoffs. I dont want to hear about them having the wild card as a crutch. This team lead their fucking division by 15 games on August 1st dont compare them to a team who only had a 5 game lead.

Tonight is an absolute must-win for the Phillies against the Reds since Houston lost today. A win puts them only 1 game back...

After yesterday, doesn't David Bell deserve safe haven from your avatar?

As a matter of fact, I'll keep the E5 title off the avatar until he makes an error that ends up blowing the wild card...

Yankees are up 2-0 so far in the bottom of the first after homeruns by Jeter and Cano.

Edit: Arod Walks, Matsui with an rbi double. Yankees are really making Ted Lilly work in the first inning. Posada just had a 9 pitch at bat to earn a walk.
