spman 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I met Bubba Dudley a few years back at Ozzfest, and he kinda seemed like a dick. I didn't want to make scene or anything, so I went up to him quitely, told him I was a fan, and shook his hand. The whole time he seemed like he couldn't care less about anything I said, but then again, being in a crowd that big I was prolly the 100th person that went up to him, so I didn't hold it against him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everything I've ever heard about the Dudleys is that D-Von is really nice and always willing to chat with fans, while Bubba Ray is a real asshole who could care less. death_by_burrito 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Yeah, people always tried to tell me he was a dick, but I kinda shrugged it off and thought that since I was in a crowd more than likely full of wrestling fans, I didn't hold it against him. If he is like that with a lot of people, then that sucks.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 The most uinterested person I've met was Amazing Red. I said "looking forward to the match tonight" and he just kinda said.. nothing and look blankly into space. The exact same comment to Chris Sabin, his opponent, was met with "oh, thanks man!" and such. Sean Waltman was surprisingly one the coolest people I've spoken to. I casually mentioned that I thought Kid/Razor vs Diesel/HBK was a great match and he was "I know which match you mean! From Action Zone!" and was really into it, it was fun. Jimmy Hart is also awesome. Chris Daniels and Jerry Lynn were real nice, too. Daniels was pretty funny ripping on a guy that saw a sign saying 8x10's were $10 and thought it was refering to t-shirts. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 do you think HBK would respond well to a fan calling him Hickenbottom? I've always wondered...I mean, it's no big secret that it's his name, I just don't know how he'd react to a fan calling him that as opposed to his wife or his folks... dubq 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 No, us fans aren't allowed to use their real names. It's a sign of disrespect. Yet, if the shoe is on the other foot - when a fan calls an actor by one of their character names, they're deemed a psycho, or "out of touch with reality" - ahh, gotta love some of these wrestlers and their whole "treat me special, I'm different" mentality. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 The worker's celebrity persona, or persona in which they can ply their trade to the most people, is based on the athlete/star they are portraying. In the case of Hollywood, you clearly are presented with "This is a man/woman portraying someone else for 2 hours." With their real name given before the character name. In the case of the worker, that "2 hour movie" is an entire career.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I met Chris Daniels about two years ago at an indy show and he was really cool and signed my ticket. He even took some time to take pictures with fans and this is when he first entered the building, he didn't even get to the locker room yet. Cool guy. Carnival 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Tommy Dreamer was a really nice guy, I didn't really meet him though, he was wrestling at a WWF house a few years back, I was in the front row wearing an "Innovater of Violence" shirt and after the match he was slapping hands with the crowd. He came to me and gave me a big hug and said "thank you so much". I thought that was really cool of him. Concerning shawn michaels, My friend was stationed at an Air Force base in San Antonio. He went to a catholic church near the base and saw Shawn Michaels sitting in the row in front of him. And for people who don't know, during a catholic mass, there is a part where you shake hands with people sitting near you and say "Peace be with you". Well he shook my friends hand and stuff, so he called me afterwards. I told my friend, I would pay him $50 to instead of saying "Peace be with you" to say "You screwed Bret" while shaking his hand. He was too much of a chicken shit to do it. Which I don't blame him, but man that would have been a great story. "Shawn Michaels physically assaults fan during sunday services!" Guest Amy Ace Report post Posted September 30, 2005 LOL, thats funny^ I didn't know Shawn was a good little Catholic boy! Anyways when I met Bubba at the Diva Search thing he was real nice (maybe cuz Al Snow introduced me, but I dunno) he saw I had a Steelers shirt on and told me his favorite team was Dallas, and we started talking about football, like we were old friends, so he was cool. jwpeer 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 btw, According to WWE.com Carlito's finisher is a Modified Swinging Neckbreaker. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it's been like that for months now, and I've never seen him use it. The most phantom finisher in the universe. I just had an idea: Get the modified swinging neckbreaker really over, call it the MSN and get advertising dollars from Microsoft!!! No, Keanu Reeves does not really fight demons from hell - and no, Kane and the Undertaker can not spontaneously cause people to catch on fire and/or get hit by lightning. The length of time that someone plays a character in a certain setting has nothing to do with it. They're still just someone portraying a character when they go home after the show. Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 You know, why the fuck should they seem interested if they aren't. Fuck you. Watch them wrestle. Thats my thoughts on it. If a guy is overly nice to you, then you appreciate it, but other wise, they probably aren't interested. And don't come with this crap about "Hey, i spend my money to watch you perform, you should acknowledge me" crap. They take your money in return for destroying their bodies, so everyone gets what they are paying/are paid for. Its nice to hear when a wrestler is overly nice or something, but they don't have the time, nor should they be expected to put up the effort to pretend that they give a crap about each and every person that walks up to them. At least, thats how I see it.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 Then maybe they shouldn't agree to work at meet and greet tables then? In the case I cited with Red, I know it's 100% optional for people to do the greeting session in BCW. If they don't want to, they don't have to. It's not like I'm holding it against him or anything, jsut something I observed.
Guest Zarock Report post Posted September 30, 2005 It would be so awesome if King or Coach were commentating during a Carlito match and started putting over how tough he was. "*Random face* has got to watch out for Carlito. If he hits his...um...well, it doesn't matter because *Random face* isn't going to make it that long!" Anyways, Carlito being in-character at a signing wouldn't suprise me, given how much he seems to do it at other places.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2005 I wouldn't hold it against a wrestler if they acted like a dick to me. They don't really owe me anything, so if they don't wanna take a pic or sign an autograph thats fine. The only way I'd get really pissed at em is if they punched my ass or something. The Hollywood comparison isn't really fair, cuz most people's "real names" in hollywood are changed anyways. I'm not one for calling wrestlers by their real names. I don't know them personally so I don't think it's right if I refer to them as their real name, same with celebs and musicians.

Guest slmon Report post Posted October 1, 2005 Anyways, Carlito being in-character at a signing wouldn't suprise me, given how much he seems to do it at other places. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that the WWE has to settle this kayfabe vs. real life crap. There's no point of, say, Carlito staying in full character at a signing if other wrestlers, like Matt, are saying that what we see on tv is not "real" but only storyline. Guest Zarock Report post Posted October 1, 2005 I understand that, but I think Carlito just likes being in character for some reason. He said in an interview that it's sort of an alter-ego for him, so he might just being having acting kayfabe (then again, he also said his style was more like Rey Mysterio and RVD, which I guess speaks for itself.) fisticuffs 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2005 Hurricane is from Smithfield, NC and has dated my cousin April for over 10 years. I don't know if they're married now or even if they're still together b/c I don't get down that way very much. I know they were still together a couple of years ago. Anyway, Hurricane came to my house for Thanksgiving dinner once. He was a real cool guy, but this was before his WCW days. I don't know how he is now since he has "made it." I do know that he has welcomed me and my friends to come down and hang out with him if we want, so he can't be that bad.
