Giuliani Will Decide Next Year....

Recommended Posts

I think it would be a good thing if he did run. I think he would actually be the frontrunner of both the Democratic and Republican nominees due to the way he handled the events of 911. And he says he would run as a Republican.

Thoughts?

9/11 made Rudy a millonaire with the money he gets for speeches. Last I heard I believe he was making 100,000 plus a speech.

Who gives a shit how much Rudy gets for speeches? Hasnt Clinton gotten upwards of a million to speak?

Giuliani did great things for his city, his country, and his people during 9-11.

The GOP has shown they can run as far a right wing canidate as they want to win. Rudy's socail views are not going to appeal to any Republican outside of the North East.

Im not sure theyll be able to run much of the neocon demographic with all the trouble that seems to be breweing right now for Republicans....

bingo. the GOP is not looking for crossover appeal, and party loyalties are so fierce right now that he would scarcely sway any dems anyway. part of what makes him so popular in NY is his views on gays and abortion (so they can accept him as a republican without classifying him as "evil"), and the whole core of the republican party platform would need a major overhaul if he was their frontrunner. he makes a good paper tiger, but if he starts making major policy decisions, he becomes a liability to the party.

I think it would be horrible if Rudy got the nod. The idea that there would be a pro-choice candidate running at the top of the Dem ticket and the Republican ticket, that would rob voters of having an alternative on that issue.

Thing is, Rudy wasn't really liked in NYC until 911. He was getting flak the level of Bush is currently getting. He should not get the nod, because he won't pull away any sway voters to the GOP and his policies are only for NYC. I doubt he would even win NY for the GOP if he ran.

I just don't want another person in the George W. Bush mold. In a party that accounts for about half the country's politicians, there's gotta be a well-spoken bright man, maybe even from somewhere other than the south, who wants to scale the government back.

I don't think Guiliani has nearly as much personal baggage as our last president. He had an extramarital affair. Big deal. He also is known as the guy who cleaned up New York City, and held the city together after 9/11. That trumps anything you could say about his personal life.

Newt Gingrich?

Anyway, I don't think Rudy could get the GOP nod. He's pro-choice, favors gun control, and doesn't hate gays, so he won't appeal to the hard-line elements of the Republican party.

I loved Guiliani BEFORE Sept. 11th. Here's a fun little game: watch any movie filmed in NYC in the 70's and early 80s. The place was an absolute decaying dump. Rudy cleaned that town up beyond belief.

Hmmm.. maybe we'll get that Rudy v. Clinton race after all.

Hillary did not have to get a judicial order to be let into the house.

Because we have so many cases every time we go to the polls where we have real alternatives. I just see guys in suits.

Of course not. She simply carpet-bagged it to New York instead of going home.

No, he said "well-spoken".
