TNA Comments which don't warrant a thread

Recommended Posts

I hope TNA does more house shows during 2007. hell if they do a house show once a week in 2007 then theres 54 show and should be hold all over the states and canada to get tna more exposer

I wouldn't mind them doing more co-promoted shows all over the states, in Canada. Reduce costs, let the TNA logos still go up, just give a credit and a percentage to the local promoter actually hosting. I'm sure the promoter would love having a 8 or 10 wrestlers like AJ Styles and Rhino on the card, and drawing 1,000 instead of 100.

- WWE has sent a legal letter to Kurt Angle concerning the use of the phrases "Angle Lock", "The Wrestling Machine" and "The Machine" by TNA. Also, while Angle can wear a mouthpiece, it cannot have "The Machine" written on it. Angle responded by saying he always thought the move was just called the ankle lock.

- Friends of Monty Brown say that his contract expired at the end of September and that he is not going to sign a new one. Dixie Carter is still trying to work out a deal with him, while Brown himself is still considering whether or not to approach WWE for work. Brown feels that he was lied to by TNA, since he was promised a title run and it went to Christian Cage instead. The other problem is the same old story of TNA liking Brown and wanting him to improve by working indie shows, while Brown doesn't want that because it interferes with his lucrative day job as a personal trainer.

- Christy Hemme has asked to be a manager, so TNA is going to get a new woman to do the bumpers. They are also interviewing some Puerto Rican women to add to LAX.

- The original booking plans were to see Jeff Jarrett take a four-month sabbatical and return as a babyface. He will now only take a few weeks off instead. The plan is to play the sympathy card, perhaps using his wife, who has been fighting cancer for a few years now. He is expected to be allied with the James Gang.

- Jarrett also recently had a backstage confrontation with Konnan, who was demanding a raise. Jarrett and TNA want Konnan to sign one of their new contracts, which sees the promotion handling indie bookings for the talent, but Konnan wants to retain control over his Mexican appearances. Konnan knows that his stock has increased now he is managing LAX, doing Spanish announcing and setting up big Mexican dates like the Arena Monterrey show. He has been offered the raise but the issue of his Mexican bookings is still up in the air.

- The future of Ron Killings' proposed BET stable is uncertain. Terry Taylor suggested that they get Prince Nana to join, but Killings didn't want him and suggested Monty Brown instead. As noted, Brown is unlikely to be used again. Killings then suggested Orlando Jordan, but TNA are reluctant to bring in someone who bombed in WWE. Vince Russo is a fan of Elix Skipper, so he may be moved out of the Diamonds in the Rough to work with Killings instead.

This was taken from this weeks Observer.

It's also not going to work.

Exactly, why didn't Killings want Prince Nana? Nana's a great heel manager and unlike Julius Smokes, he doesn't distract from the match with his annoying antics.

i'm sorry, Dave, you were saying...?

So it was in the Observer. So what? Just because something is reported in a dirt sheet, it doesn't mean that it's true. I will grant you that Dave Meltzer has plenty of connections in the industry and he doesn't base everything he reports on speculation like Wade Keller...but TNA has already proven once recently that they can mislead or work Meltzer if they want. The man recently devoted all sorts of space to an issue saying that Angle wasn't going to TNA...when he was...and planned to pretty much from the minute he got canned by WWE. So obviously, when it comes to TNA, we know Meltzer can be unreliable. This leads me to take anything he reports about TNA with a grain of salt.

Just because somebody said that Jarrett is planning on coming back as a face, "perhaps" using his wife's battle with cancer as a ploy for sympathy...I think we're getting ahead of ourselves calling him an asshole, since we don't know if it's true or not. A couple of people have speculated that he plans to turn face and use his wife's illness as a reason. Until he's actually done that, don't you think you're jumping the gun a bit in calling him a prick and an asshole?

Besides...why do you care if he uses his wife's cancer as a storyline? Only humans care about things like that, and you're not a human, you're a monster who had your humanity forcibly removed from you, remember? You don't care about the victims of 9/11 but the RUMOR of Jeff Jarrett exploiting his wife's illness gets an emotional reaction from you? What kind of monster are you, a Smark Monster?

For all we know, it could be a bullshit rumor, totally inaccurate. Some people hate Jarrett so much that they will use any excuse to cuss him out. Why not use the reasons that we KNOW are true instead of the internet/dirt sheet rumors that we don't?

That's what I was saying.

This is true. I remember when the date was coming that Stephanie McMahon was about to give birth, some dip in the WWE folder got all holier-than-thou because he figured that IF she had complications and lost the baby, some smarks MIGHT celebrate...and she hadn't even gone into labor yet.

oh, christ, get over it.

i see your point, no matter how rambling, yes maybe i jumped the gun a little. i just think it's kinda shitty thing to do so someone you supposedly love. that's all i meant. i may be a freak and a monster, but i'm completely without scruples.

funny thing is, if it was anyone else who said the exact same thing, you would have just dismissed it and went away without comment. aren't we buds anymore, Dave? :(

Remember the reaction when they announced she was preggers? I'm sure some idiot would've said something stupid.

Look at the thread title!!

And I still don't see why JJ trying to use sympathy to get over his so far-fetched. Remember his awful feud with Legend?

Hey...if he DOES use this as an excuse, I will be one of the first people to cuss him out. I'm sure we have ALL lost people to cancer in our lives, and the idea of using that in a Pro Wrestling storyline is something that makes me sick. My point is...he hasn't done it yet...and we have no real proof that he was planning on it. Sure, it's not beyond the realm of possibility...but I prefer to reserve my wrath until he does it. As I said, there are plenty of reasons to find fault with Jeff Jarrett and TNA without picking gnat shit out of pepper.

I don't remember the premise behind his feud with Legend, I only know that Legend is pretty much black balled in North America for giving a real interview in Europe saying that Jarrett's wife having cancer was Karma, and that he hoped she died, or something to that effect.

Now THAT I can understand cussing out.

Let’s clear this idea about what Dave Meltzer said or did not say about Kurt Angle going to TNA. Dave said that Kurt’s management had said that Kurt was not going to TNA because he didn’t want to upset Vince McMahon. Dave himself said that it was unlikely Kurt was going to go to TNA because of that and also because he, like everyone, was under the belief Kurt had a no-compete clause that prevented him from going to TNA. Dave never said that Kurt was never going to go to TNA; he only said that that is what Kurt’s own people had said. I don’t know where this idea started that Dave said Kurt was never going to TNA, but if people want going to criticize Dave for something he says, at least make sure he actually said it.

As for the Jeff Jarrett item that people have gotten so worked up about, I don’t know if it’s true, but I can say this much; Dave wouldn’t have reported something like that if it was something that only one person had said or if he didn’t put much stock in it being true. Now, that doesn’t mean it is true, just that, from talking to his sources in TNA, Dave has strong enough reason to believe it’s true and to put it in print. If Dave thought it was a joke, he either wouldn’t have printed it all or would have printed it but made clear it was something he didn’t take seriously.

Now, assuming it is true then I can see why they would go that route. They know how much of the heat for Jeff is the ‘X-Pac’ heat and not the heel heat they would like it to be. It’s not something they like to know, and it’s not something they seem able to fully accept and deal with, but they know it. In their eyes, playing on real life emotional issues may be the one way to get the fans to finally cheer Jeff, as he battles through what is no doubt a very emotional and trying time for the guy. It’s also something that Jeff, growing up in Memphis, has plenty of first hand experience of, because it’s a philosophy that both his father and Jerry Lawler believe in when it comes to running angles. However, the problem with this idea is this; it might be enough to stop the fans hating on Jarrett so much, and that in itself is not certain, but given how long they’ve hated Jeff and the fact that it means he’s going to become the number one pushed babyface, which is exactly how Jeff’s face turn, no matter the angle used, is going to play out, then they’re still not going to cheer him. They’re not sick of Jeff being the most pushed heel, they’re sick of him being the most pushed wrestler, and if TNA thinks that turning Jeff babyface is going to solve the problem, even if they do use such a sensitive real life issue to trigger the babyface turn, then they’re going to very much mistaken. They might stop the booing, but I don’t see it starting the cheering, and I think it’ll lead to the worst reaction a wrestler can get; apathy.

Should it surprise anyone that TNA was more turned off by Orlando Jordan because he "bombed" in WWE as opposed to the sexual relations he had with an underage boy that caused him to be fired by WWE?

double post.

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Konnan had a confrontation with Jeff Jarrett at last week's Impact tapings. Konnan basically demanded that that TNA give him a raise or he'll quit.

Jarrett was trying to get Konnan to sign the new converted contracts in which TNA books all its contracted guys for their respective indy dates and then they get a quarterly lump sum check. Konnan refused to switch over because he wants to control his Mexico bookings (AAA controls that), not to mention his Lucha Libre style independent bookings in North America.

Konnan's argument was that he signed his contract when he wasn't being used well (when he was a member of 3Live Kru). Now that he's managing one of the company's top acts in LAX, doing the Spanish announcing, not to mention that he set up the bookings for a recent show in Mexico, he wanted a substantial raise. Jarrett felt both sides signed a contract in good faith and it wasn't in good faith for him to want to re-negotiate a contract in the middle of the term. Konnan said that if he didn't get a raise, he would work full-time in Mexico.

TNA has offered Konnan a raise, but their is still the impasse regarding TNA wanting full control of booking him in Mexico.
