vermilion 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Woman's wrestling meant something already for those interested in it, so that's not a TNA claim. Nash has always done comedic shit and of course like it has in TNA, it didn't draw a dime. Video game? ECW had a video game. That's not a big deal. New markets for PPV? 4 a year and a ton of poorly drawn house shows. Hell, backyard wrestling has a video game technically heh. And Nash was funny and all, but Shelley made those promos in my opinion. Either way, like already said, it wasn't a draw. TNA is failing. I used to be interested but since it's become the D show of WWE, I'll pass completely. The few good wrestlers/highlights aren't worth putting up with the Abyss half-assed garbage matches and Kurt Angle all over the show.
The Buzz 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Shelley was funny, but he has a very offbeat humor. Some of the stuff he said was so off the wall it'd get a chuckle, but when someone like Nash says that same type of things it was just funnier. Just for me anyway. I kind of expect Shelley with his "trendy" style of personality to say off the wall shit, but Nash was always a very laid back badass who'd throw some sarcasm out as his humor. Goofy Nash was gold. Speaking of those segments I wish they were still going to make the Paparazzi dvd they announced last year. Edit: Got this from tnawrestlingnews.com Source: PWTorch.com Sting and TNA have agreed on new terms and he will in fact be staying with the company through 2008. He will be working a lighter schedule and won't be on TV every week. I know the board has a few Sting fans like myself so I figured I'd post this.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 In all honesty, I want Sting to just tell TNA that he won't work for them unless they calm the shows down (meaning the pacing) and/or focus on some of the lesser-known guys that have the ability to be bigger than they already are but keep finding themselves held down. Either that, or go to WWE by 'Mania 25 so an all-encompassing career DVD can be made.
RedJed 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 Weird that Killings is gone again - once again, misused upon being brought back again. They even signed Consequences Creed and still let him go? Jingus 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 A bit here from Lance Storm's latest commentary knocking TNA: So let's look at buy rates. TNA is drawing in the neighborhood of maybe 20,000 buys per PPV. To give this number perspective ECW (WWE’s third brand) at its absolute worst (The December to Dismember PPV) drew approx. 90,000 buys on PPV. This number was considered so bad that Vince McMahon pulled the plug on ECW as a PPV entity, deciding that it wasn’t a strong enough show to carry itself on PPV. TNA is currently doing maybe 25% of that number. Even TNA’s most successful PPV only did approx. 60,000 buys (Angle – Joe 1). Let's repeat that: WWE's worst PPV drew more buys than TNA's best show. Also, take a look at how accurate one of his commentaries from a year and a half ago turned out to be, on the subject of the Nash vs. the X Division angle: I’ve tried real hard to support this show, but the Kevin Nash interviews and pending X-Division feud has put me over the top. This may top the Rey Mysterio burial. This is as close to sabotage from within as you can get. I’m sure people within TNA will say, “No wait, when it all plays out it will be great.” But I was told that about the Jackie Gayda angle and that went absolutely nowhere. This angle will destroy the X-Division. Just standing in the ring with Nash will hurt them, because all the guys are going to look like little kids. I should know I did it in WCW (and I’m bigger than most X division guys) remember how much that helped my credibility. If the pay off at the end of this angle is a Hogan – Kidman type “putting over the younger guy” type finish, someone should lose their job!! The only way this could work at all is if Nash completely sacrifices himself and gets beat handly and clean the first time out, and I don’t see that happening. Of course, that angle proceeded with Nash destroying every X Division member he got near, and then when he was finally supposed to do a job to Chris Sabin, he Mysteriously Hurt His Neck and the whole angle was dropped with nothing ever getting resolved. What a great alternative TNA is.

Mecca 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2007 Besides Low-Ki, Ron Killings also got his TNA release last week. They'd had a huge falling out around the time that Konnan left, and Killings went to work for him in AAA down in Mexico. They talked him into coming back for the Team Pacman angle, but after that was dropped they never did much of anything with him. He'll be returning to AAA, and the feeling is that if WWE wants him back he'll go. TNA claims that since they had to cancel their December dates in Mexico, they'll be rescheduling for April or early May of 2008. a few other talents are considering Dixie Carter's offer to leave TNA After losing her job as a host of a motorcross show, likely due to comments she made on the Howard Stern show, former TNA interviewer Leticia Cline sent a letter to Stern. Stern replied by asking the studio if anyone remembered her, and apparently nobody did even though she had just appeared on his show the previous week. Amazing Kong changed her ring name in TNA to Awesome Kong because TNA wanted her to sign over the right to her name. Prior to signing with TNA, she was approached by WWE, but TNA made her a concrete offer first. credit:F4W Newsletter

Mecca 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 - The decision to use Eric Young in the main event at Turning Point due to Scott Hall no-showing the event was made by Jeff Jarrett as a last minute decision. - Speaking of Young getting the main event spot, apparently Samoa Joe suggested Homicide, but he was told that Homicide wasn't over enough or good enough for the spot. According to the story, Homicide heard about it and was really hot at management over it. - After TNA offered anyone unhappy their release, guys like Kurt Angle, Booker T, Earl Hebner, and Travis Tomko gave speeches about how most of the guys in WWE are miserable, and talked about the pressure and the politics of being in World Wrestling Entertainment. - Amazing Kong also gave a speech about being contacted by both WWE and TNA, and going with TNA since she believed WWE wasn't going to be the right fit for her. The Buzz 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 I also find it funny that Homicide was denied the spot. RedJed 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 I also find it funny that Homicide was denied the spot. Although they've lost momentum LAX was probably the hottest act in TNA for a few months, and a guy like Homicide is a bit more credible than Eric Young. And could have started a slow build into going into singles primarily for him. He's due for it - I enjoy LAX but they arent doing shit with them anymore, so why not break them up? Both guys are at the point where I think they would be much more better as singles. TNA has dropped it so much with Cide it isnt even funny. Speaking of another name in this thread, I always thought a Killings - Homicide feud would have been gold. Too late for that now. Or hell, they could have given LAX v. Truth & Consequences a go, but that didnt even get to happen. EY as the pick decided by Jarrett doesnt surprise me in the least. Young buddied up to Jarrett years ago and they are close friends. It's the equivalent of Bischoff pushing DDP in a sense. If 3-D put the X division over and leave, I really can't dog on them much anymore. Damn. I don't think the E would take them back, though. But I would like them to do something substantial if they are leaving, and if they truly put over the X division strong, I commend them. Time honored tradition so to speak. With all of that said though, if they left TNA and didnt get a job back in WWE, they can work indy shows for the rest of their career as far as I'm concerned, and I'll gladly enjoy not seeing them on a national promotion anymore. Their act just has grown stale to me, and have for years, to be honest. If I was a TNA wrestler, I wouldn't be motivated by an indirect "don't leave TNA, WWE sucks and you dont want to go there" montage of speeches by disgruntled ex-WWE guys with a chip on their shoulder against how they left said company prior. I would take it more as a joke more than anything since their opinions on the WWE isn't exactly, well, unbiased. And it's not really the best idea to just basically tell your workers that the same reasons why they say WWE isnt worth going to seems to be the same shit here - miserable locker room and politics playing its part in things. I disagree, although Homicide is a great talent and obviosuly over with the crowd, he is seen in TNA as a tag team wrestler. Whereas Eric Young is someone who has been getting a pretty big singles push considering he is just a comedy character.

Guest MadManOnTheWater Report post Posted December 14, 2007 But was Booker fired? I can't remember. Booker T supposedly left because he was upset that his promotion wasn't made a developmental territory and because of wellness issues. I think it was alleged that part of that was a fondness for marijuana.
Mecca 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 TNA is in negotiations with MMA star Bob Sapp, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. TNA has offered him an initial four-month deal, in which Sapp would be paid $2,500 per match. TNA wants Sapp to work a program with Kurt Angle, and then later with Samoa Joe. Sapp is paid about $35,000 per match for Hustle (he is under contract with Hustle for one year), and has received a seven figure offer from WWE. It appears WWE has been in talks with Sapp once again. Apparently, WWE and Sapp had serious talks a few months ago. There was talk that WWE would promote Sapp as a combined MMA/pro wrestling star. credit:gerweck.net
majormayhem1 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Has TNA even mentioned Scott Hall's name since the no-show?
The Buzz 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Hall apparently no showed ICP's radio show as well due to "private personal reasons". So I don't know but it seems like the big guy might really be depressed over his family issues. I guess we'll see if he blows off Puerto Rico. TNA will not push or even mention Sting until he signs another contract. While there are several Talents either out of contract or haven't signed one to start, their is fear that Sting could leave at anytime and they don't want to have a situation to where they promote him and he disappears much similar to Shannon Moore. This would not be of concern to TNA if it were not for the rumors that Ric Flair wants to have his retirement match be with either Sting or Triple H but regardless if it's his last match or not, Flair is persistent in his desire to work one more time with Sting. WWE seems more willing now than in the past to entertain the idea of Sting working a lighter schedule. It is however believed that if Sting does come to WWE it's likely that it will require build up and some form of longevity after the match as WWE doesn't have a desire to have Sting come in for one match and then go away, similar to Warrior in WCW. Just saw that on Gerweck, so I don't know if the PWINSIDER, OR PWTORCH can't remember which it was I posted earlier that said Sting signed is accurate or not. Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 COMPLETE DETAILS ON NEXT MONTH'S TNA GLOBAL IMPACT SPECIAL ON SPIKETV by Mike Johnson The TNA "Global Impact" wrestling special, which will feature matches from the 1/4 New Japan Tokyo Dome, will be a one hour show airing on Thursday 1/17 at 11 PM after that week's episode of TNA Impact. The special will repeat on Friday morning 1/18 at 9 AM and Saturday 1/19 at 2 PM. The official SpikeTV blurb for the special reads, "Led by Olympic Gold Medalist and current TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Kurt Angle, TNA is set to unleash the beast in the "Land of the Rising Sun" as a team of its superstars set off to declare "Global Warning!" on New Japan Pro Wrestling. Angle, who is New Japan's IWGP World Champion, is set to defend both titles against Japanese legend Yugi Nagata." Well, of course, the actual IWGP champion is Hiroshi Tanahashi and Angle holds a bogus version of the title according to New Japan's storylines, but that would probably be far too convoluted for the American audience. Heck, it's too convoluted for me to keep recapping without getting a headache. My original thought was that Angle would drop the belt to Nagata to set up Nagata vs. Tanahashi for the "unified" IWGP belt, but if the Angle bout is going to air in the United States, I'm not so sure. Matches announced for the Dome show in Japan: *IWGP champion Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Shinsuke Nakamura *TNA champion Kurt Angle vs. Yuji Nagata for Angle's other IWGP title belt (I've still got that headache, please don't ask) *IWGP Tag Team champions Giant Bernard (WWE's Albert/A-Train) & Travis Tomko vs. The Steiners *IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion Wataru Inoue vs. Christopher Daniels (Isn't he fired?) *Manabu Nakanishi vs. Abyss *Togi Makabe & Toru Yano vs. Team 3D *Hirooki Goto vs. The Great Muta (which is Muta's first New Japan appearance in years and a big deal there) *Milano Collection AT & Minoru & Prince Devitt vs. Christian Cage & AJ Styles & Petey Williams (Weird TNA team given the storylines) The full Dome show card, in order: NJPW "WRESTLE KINGDOM II IN TOKYO DOME", 1/4/08 (WPW/PPV) Tokyo Dome 1.
