Downhome Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I know who I'd like to see join the RAW team, but he was in WCW and I dare not even speak his name. But I'd love it.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 How Jericho for a while? They can go the Mr. Perfect route and have someone pull him out of "retirement" after a while. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He got fired from Raw, so they'd have to have Eric Bischoff explain why Jericho is now a commentator. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, they wouldn't. He'd just be on Raw one night. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it was to mean anything he'd have to be there for more than just one night, and for that there would need to be a reason given.
haVoc Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I think he meant they wouldn't explain it and just one day Jericho would be there.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I think he meant they wouldn't explain it and just one day Jericho would be there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which would guarantee it would confuse more people than it intrigued enough to pay attention. I guess they could have Jericho file a lawsuit to get back on Raw, and play off of the Lesnar situation.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 What about bringing back Sean Mooney? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Who?"
Silence Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Schiavone referring to Carlito holding someone's tights for a win (despite not having an established finisher):"That's his MOVE!"
Dogbert Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Whether or not you believe that Jim Ross should retire from commentary, it would still be a sad day. I'm sure that many of us can't remember wrestling without J.R. doing play-by-play. I know I can't.
Vern Gagne Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I think he meant they wouldn't explain it and just one day Jericho would be there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which would guarantee it would confuse more people than it intrigued enough to pay attention. For all we know Jericho and Bischoff could be best buds when Jericho returns.
CBright7831 Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Hard to believe there isn't any older, former, about to retire wrestlers who can't do commentary. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Immediately coming to mind are Dusty Rhodes and Eric Bischoff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think I agree with what Joey Style said about Bischoff's commentary at One Night Stand.
geniusMoment Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 What about Joey Styles? He called One Night Stand, and management was impressed with him. Plus, he is more camera friendly than Jim Ross. I would love a Styles/Cyrus combo again.
Golgo 13 Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I remember a rumor a couple years back about Schiavone. WWE wanted him to come in, at least on a temporary basis, but Kevin Dunn disapproved and the idea was dropped.
Art Sandusky Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Tony also looked like a joke when he appeared in TNA back then too.
Lil' Bitch Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 How about Todd Grisham or Josh Matthews doing play by play on RAW?
Silence Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Tony also looked like a joke when he appeared in TNA back then too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which reminds me... Does anyone know if he still looks like he ate Mark Madden?
Spaceman Spiff Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I know who I'd like to see join the RAW team, but he was in WCW and I dare not even speak his name. But I'd love it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Stevie Ray. Make it happen.
Silence Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Stevie Ray. Make it happen.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't Booker T say "fruit booty" not too long ago on Smackdown? Hmmm.....
Guest Fook Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 They've needed a different PBP announcer on Raw for a while as JR's become a parody of himself, but the problem is the WWE doesn't have anyone with the experience to replace him. And they have to get rid of Lawler. That borderline pedophile has never added anything to commentary in his life. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree they have to get rid of Lawler, but I disagree with your second point. Before the attitude era he was a great colour commentator. He got his points across and made me laugh on the regular. It's only since 1998 that he's been awful. I think JR and Tazz would be a great combination, because without Jerry Lawler to drag him down. JR is noticably better. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. I've liked the JR/Tazz combo during the past couple of Royal Rumble matches. It's like when Heyman (hey, what about him?) was pairing with JR in 2001 in that it's a breath of fresh air.
Enigma Posted October 5, 2005 Author Report Posted October 5, 2005 I remember when Eric Bischoff was doing one of the 5,413 Fire-Jim-Ross angles, he threatened J.R. by saying Tony Schiavone was on his speed dial. Heh.
razazteca Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I know who I'd like to see join the RAW team, but he was in WCW and I dare not even speak his name. But I'd love it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lee Marshall?
SteakGrowsOnUecker Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 YES! We could start having Lee call in from the area where Raw is the next week where he is at the wild and wacky Raw party going on there. Yeah.
razazteca Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 1-800-COLLECT promos with Randy Orton RKOing people? Who betta than Orton.......everybody.
SuperJerk Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Hard to believe there isn't any older, former, about to retire wrestlers who can't do commentary. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Immediately coming to mind are Dusty Rhodes and Eric Bischoff. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...that's a train wreck waiting to happen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Trainwrecks can be fun to watch.

Guest *KNK* Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 The best possible announcers don't exist under the WWE umbrella. Why is bad announcing a epidemic in all North American promotions? Josh Matthews/Taz or Tazz/Ross are the best options WWE can give unless it's willing to test out some of the "legends" who aren't busy. I'm shocked Vince hasn't gotten desperate and thrown wads of cash to Ventura.
World's Worst Man Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 Matthews knows too much about wrestling to be a big time commentator. He'd be calling moves by their proper name and referring to Japanese/indy promotions. Can't have that. Where's Chris Cruise when you need him? I also think Coach would be fine on colour as Lawler definitely needs to go too.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 5, 2005 Report Posted October 5, 2005 I know who I'd like to see join the RAW team, but he was in WCW and I dare not even speak his name. But I'd love it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Steve "Mongo" McMichael and his dog?
