Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 I picked the Braves to beat the Astros. I picked the Cardinals to pick the Astros. I was wrong. I seriously underestimated the 'Stros. Roy Oswalt perhaps enters the realm of great pitchers where he belongs. Congratulations to the Astros and all their fans, who have waited a hell of a long time for this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You better pick the White Sox to beat the Astros. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Astros vs. White Sox. Could any sick bastard possibly come up with something worse than this piece of shit World Series? Anyone care to come up with something more heatless, horrible, and featuring two teams that people either 1. don't care about or 2. flat out hate? We all have two choices: Root for the Astros in hope that Clemens, Biggio, Bagwell, etc. can finally get a ring and retire and then they'll suck from then on. Or we can root for the White Sox to end their 80+ year curse and get the rings, and then suck from then on. I am getting nostalgic for the Marlins vs. Indians. I am getting nostalgic for the Marlins vs. Indians. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never understood people who react to the teams in the World Series as if they were going to lose money if the World Series didn't rake in record ratings. Guess what...the people of Houston and, well some of the people from Chicago, will be just fine with this World Series and that's all that matters because it's their teams that are in it. This isn't a TV Show or a Movie that's expected to entertain all. It's a series between two teams who fought to get there and it's meant to entertain the fans of those teams. If non-fans of those teams are entertained by it that's good too, but for the most part this is for the people of Houston and Chicago. You say no one cares about these teams, and I can't speak for Chicago, but I know the people of Houston love this team. No one expects anybody from any other State to care. If it were St. Louis and Chicago I wouldn't care about it. I'd probably watch because I like baseball, but I wouldn't go out of my way to not miss a game of the series. I realize you're upset that your team didn't make it, but to act as if the World Series is ruined because it's Houston vs. Chicago is rediculous.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 Blah. Astros had a lot of help from the umps throughout the series, but it still doesn't justify the Cards' bats going cold. Houston pitching had better keep it up. I guess I'd rather see Bagwell and Biggio get rings instead of having to listen to any White Sox broadcasts in 2006 if they were to win the WS. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 And let's not forget Sanders obviously not being 100 percent and Walker being more or less a shell of his former self. Still thought they could take it, but it's not surprising in retrospect that they didn't. They've got some excellent pieces in place, but they'll be looking to fill some holes around the field, no doubt.

sfaJack 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2005 My company has stated tomorrow is "Go Astros Day" and we are free to wear Astros' t-shirts, hats, etc. So I can't decide if I want to wear my Cubs hat and Ryne Sandberg jersey or if I want to go out tonight and buy a cheapo White Sox hat since I just cannot root for the Astros. The Astros certainly earned it though. Roy Oswalt pitched two hellaciously good games and they really did thump the Cardinals throughout the series. I just hate it that they actually made it since now I'll have to continue to deal with all the Astro "fans" who hadn't even watched a game all year until this week.
