justcoz 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 He has the "it" factor. There was hardly anything spectacular about a raised eyebrow and an elbow drop either and I remember people saying those were lame but it got over. There is an old school ring announcer tip of the hat with the repeating of 'Kennedy' and the old MSG style lowering the mic from the ceiling that long time fans get a kick out of. To other fans it just comes across as an arrogant heel. He displays personality and a freshness not seen since Steve Austin first started getting over. Even when he was sitting with Cole and Tazz on commentary. They need to add other elements of his character so the 'Kennedy, Kennedy' thing doesn't get completely over done. Maybe let him rip off the Rock and Jerry Lawler a little bit and do commentary during his matches or at least grab the headset and talk when he has an opponent outside. That was something I loved about the Rock that he dropped doing on his babyface runs. My vote would be for The McMahons to love his character so much that they make him the new play by play guy on Raw at least for a few weeks. The Raw exposure would get his character over more and he could have dual roles as a wrestler on Smackdown and commentator on Raw until Teddy Long maybe finds a loophole that forbids him from doing the Raw gig. BruiserKC 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 He is feuding with the Smackdown! ring announcer. Nuff said. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, why should Howard Finkel vs. Lilian Garcia get to monopolize the market. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So...which do I prefer...a wrestler pretending to be an announcer or seeing Finkel's red Fruit of the Looms? I like the Kennedy gimmick...it's different, it's not serious, it's refreshing. It just seems that the gimmicks seem to wear thin faster. I don't know if it's by design but we've seen this quite a bit. Perfect example is Eugene...once they pushed Eugene to the moon people were howling to not see him on TV anymore. Guest rawmvp Report post Posted October 16, 2005 I never -- not even for one second -- thought THE ROCK was ever lame. He had the ungodly charisma to pull it off, whereas Kennedy doesn't.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 That promo The Rock cut about Coach having sex with farm animals was lame, and I love The Rock. And I still hate rawmvp
Guest *KNK* Report post Posted October 16, 2005 "I could list off several TNA guys better than Kennedy" Oh really? Workers, not slinkeys. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, Austin Aries, Roderick Strong are just a couple off my head.
Silence 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 I never -- not even for one second -- thought THE ROCK was ever lame.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> You don't remember things like: -The Rock calling Kevin Kelly a "hermaphradite" -The Rock talking about sticking _____ up someone's "candy ass" every week -The Rock talking about monkeys' nipples -"WHO....in the blue hell....are you?" -"Poontang pie" -The Rock pandering to the crowd way too much. Yeah, he was a face, but the pandering, much like Cena's is now, was excessive. -The pointless "If ya smellll la la la la owwwww" added to his closing catchphrase instead of the simple and to-the-point "Do you smell" from his Corporation heel run in 1998 And other lame shit during most of his face run? UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 I agree with the TNA guys, but not Roderick Strong. O-ver-rated at its best. But I could name many WWE guys who are better workers than TNA's best. What's the point? Kennedy isn't even one of WWE's bests, yet. But he has a good finisher, good enough in-ring skills, and an annoying gimmick that isn't lame, but rather annoyingly funny.
Guest JesusJuiced Report post Posted October 16, 2005 He's been pretty eh to me thus far but I enjoyed his commentary in the Holly/Sylvain match. I'm wondering though if he was fed lines or not because he came off pretty spontaneous. Which either makes him a great performer or he's being given an advantage over all the other lower card guys by having some creative control.

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2005 Samoa Joe is great, there just isn't a big heel half as convincing in the US. I think Monty Brown is terrible.

And yes, I do hate you. But hurry up and finish the story. Oh, and The Rock is one of my favourite wrestlers, but some of those 2002 promos were brutal. JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 People on this board were making this guy out to be the next major star in WWE. I saw him last Friday and I was unimpressed. Not only is his entire gimmick bad but the crowd was completely silent during his entire appearance. If this guy is the future, I'd like to find a time machine. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 I wasn't being sarcastic. Most of you geeks cream yourselves over bad matches and TV shows. I know better. Also, calling someone lame is a lot lamer than anything Ken Kennedy has done.

No. The lame factor was brought up and discussed, I didn't see anyone in this thread actually compare both guys.
