I'm not even gonna raise a stink about it, because I like this thread concept, and I don't want to derail it like I derail all the other music threads. So just clear this up for me and we'll be back on our way. I mean, everyone says they're dumb and don't add anything to it. So what's the point of skits? They fit in rap albums since it's generally such an emphatically vocal medium, and while often just a waste of time, they can be great. Actually, I think the new Ghostface album uses them pretty well--extremely brief transitional pieces, or thematic introductions to songs that follow (i.e. "Bad Mouth Kid" and "Whip You With a Strap"). I feel that rap skits had their heyday with Niggaz4life, The Chronic, and Doggystyle, and a lot of the Ice Cube and Eazy-E stuff in that same period was similarly good.
