devo 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 I thought Boondocks was pretty good, even if the episode kinda just petered out with no real conclusion. Of course, the white people are so stereotypically evil that they should all be twirling a handlebar mustache around their finger and cackling menacingly at all times, but I expected that. By the same token, 12 Ounce Mouse is one of the worst shows in the history of television.

Vyce 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 I don't even think 12 ounce mouse is a real television show. I'm not even sure what it is. Or what it's supposed to be. It confounds me.

EricMM 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 Adult Swim and Williams street in particular are so fucking losing it. They're relying on three and four year old shows to sell, along with Fox leavings. It's practically proven that none of their shows retain quality past 30 episodes. I swear, I almost prefer Space Ghost C2C's schedule, which was a couple of episodes every few years. They were almost all GOOD. Sealab is done, and so is Birdman. They're lucky ATHF is still in the running. Venture Bros was fine, but now that's gone (?). And what do we have now? 12 oz. Mouse and Squidbillies? And MINORITEAM?? Home Movies was cancelled for THIS!? They'd better thank Aaron McGruder for bringing SOMETHING of quality to their lineup, too bad they refuse to recast it on Thursdays, deciding instead that we need more Squid and Mouse. Fuck that noise. This shit is worse than TGTTM and Super Milk Chan. For real.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 Sealab is done, and so is Birdman. They're lucky ATHF is still in the running. Venture Bros was fine, but now that's gone (?). -I believe new episodes are being made for Venture Brothers. -I second the fact that ATHF is still running with all the re-runs Adult Swim has just be airing. I know they're making a movie for it instead of making new episodes, but just airing re-runs is going to kill it off with fans. -12oz mouse is just all over the place. -Squidbillie's might catch on with the ATHF fans. - Birdman is just fine, but the seasons should be longer. -Sealab just wasn't the same when the guy who voiced Captian Murphey passed away. At least Ault Swim has Family Guy, American Dan, and now Boondocks to help out it's Sunday Night Line up.....but they need a new season of Robot Chicken
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Report post Posted November 7, 2005 I've only seen the first episode of 12 oz. Mouse, that aired back in June, and I loved it. I didn't even think they were going to make more episodes of it, because it's so crazy. I can't wait to catch the rest of the series.
Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 I don't like Squidbillies. Didn't really pay attention to Minoriteam, but it doesn't seem very good. I don't have high hopes for Perfect Hair Forever. The pilot nailed the stereotypical anime stuff, but I don't know if it'll translate well overall. The dull lead and humor is the in the same hit or miss style as a lot of Adult Swim's stuff. The show they piloted last week, Lucy, Daughter of the Devil was decent. I think the VA of McGuirk was playing the Devil. I went from liking TGTTM. To hating it. To coming around on it and thinking it was basically okay. It has a lot more to it than 12 Oz., that's for sure. The Mayor and Tom make for good combo. There are a number of great moments and the schemes they come up with are generally worth watching for, even if the humor doesn't always keep up. But I can understand why people don't like it or Super Milk Chan. 12 Oz. Mouse is like an experiment. A terribly unfunny, poorly drawn and animated experiment. I like dry wit and I know AS prides themselves on doing a lot with practically nothing in the way of animation as long as the writing is good, but 12 Oz. has zero of that. It comes off like a ten minute Newgrounds effort by a slightly retarded 15 year old. As for Venture Brothers, yes, new episodes are in the works for early next year. Sealab is done, and so is Birdman. They're lucky ATHF is still in the running. Venture Bros was fine, but now that's gone (?). What? Do you mean Birdman is done in humor, or done as a series? It's still on in terms of writing, and being that it's a favorite and not even close to languishing in mediocrity like Sealab was, I think it'll still be in production. Boondocks was okay, I liked the wigger son of the bank... guy... whatever his name was, along with the security guard. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was hilarious, however. But, wow, I just love how AS shortchanged anime again by throwing the Boondocks repeat on Saturday. I know the ratings are poor in comparison to Sunday, but with Sunday having an extra hour the least they could do is leave the full Saturday night to anime and stick with it. Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 That's not how I pictured the voices of Huey & Riley. Yeah, I know they're pre-pubescent, but I always picture them w/ deeper voices when I'm reading the comic strip. And I liked Minoriteam. I got a big laugh out of the black guy dancing w/ "POP!" and "LOCK!" flashing on the screen.
Guest JMA Report post Posted November 7, 2005 I liked the Kirby-esque designs for Minoriteam. I'm probably the only one that noticed that, though.

Guest JMA Report post Posted November 7, 2005 -I believe new episodes are being made for Venture Brothers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Indeed they are. razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 Boondocks is the only orginal show worth watching on Adult Swim. All of the short 12-15 minute student film cheap ass low budget shows are not worth watching. Bring back Megas LXR and Brak Show!
Ted the Poster 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 That's not how I pictured the voices of Huey & Riley. Yeah, I know they're pre-pubescent, but I always picture them w/ deeper voices when I'm reading the comic strip.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's THAT supposed to mean? So only white guys can have high voices, you RACIST? Honestly though, the only scenes that I found funny involved Granddad. John Witherspoon is a perfect fit for the character. I would kill for more Megas. Throw in some mild swearing and you got a new headliner on Saturday nights. Too bad it got canned.
Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 Boondocks was a pleasent suprise to say the least. Charlie Murphy as the kid who came back from Iraq was a riot. Also, Grandad is awesome. Squidbillies is improving some. I love the theme song. 12 Oz. Mouse is awful. It's completley random, but there's no joke or punchline to it. People may complain about "Tom Goes to the Mayor" and "Super Milk Chan", but at least those had amusing moments and stories to go along with it. 12 Oz. Mouse has none of that. Basically, it's proof that an experiment in randomness doesn't always mean it's good. As for Minoriteam: I chuckled at Racist Frankenstein, but that was it. The rest of it sucked. Finally, I also can't wait for new epsiodes of the Venture Brothers.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 12 Oz. Mouse is one of the worst shows to ever air on Adult Swim. Super Milk Chan was stupid, but it was at least stupid and silly enough where the utter awfulness as entertaining. I do not have high standards, as aside from one hugely unfunny episode, I've at least mildly liked all episodes of Tom Goes to the Mayor. Squidbillies is bad, but last week's episode (about home schooling or whatever) was the best so far, even if it wasn't all that good. What's awesome about Boondocks is that generally, it will only get better from here.
MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2005 "Don't trust them new niggers .....OVER THERE" Excellent first episode. Regina King doing the voice for Huey is suspect, but whatever.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2005 Boondocks was way better than I ever expected. Hopefully it'll remain the same quality or better. Plus, it kept the n-word to a minimum. Minoriteam should be given a Rodney-King style beating, then deportment. "I chuckled at Racist Frankenstein, but that was it." Okay, I'll conceed that. It's just a bizaare non-sequitor that seems like a Conan O'Brien character. I like(d) Super Milk Chan, and while it could get rather repetitive (several of the same gags all over again, although with a different gimmick per ep sometimes), it didn't try *too* hard like Bobobo tends to do. "I would kill for more Megas. Throw in some mild swearing and you got a new headliner on Saturday nights. Too bad it got canned." I'm a huge Megas fan--I have the figurine even, and have most of the eps on tape. I'm hoping the rumored DVD set of it comes out, damnit, then I can own the whole series. Hopefully the Megas folks don't get screwed over on their next project like CN did to them with MXLR or MTV did to them with Downtown (the reason they had PoPTV get its signs and buildings obliterated in nearly every ep). It's like at any given time, AS can only have one original series that's a full half hour and with decent animation.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2005 I don't mean Sealab or Harvey Birdman are cancelled, I mean they're pretty fucking terrible recently. I mean I didn't watch the last season of sealab very attentively, but from what I saw it was just stupid. Harvey birdman has gone from a courtroom drama to like some sort of character driven show, which it should not be. I don't want to see Sebben and Birdman travel in time. I want to see Reducto reduce a juror. God. I forgot to mention Lucy the Daughter of the Devil. I gotta say that anything Jon Benjamin is a part of is seriously quality. Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2005 Saw the new episode of Boondocks after missing the first one last week. Hilarious. Quite a coup getting Adam We to voice the defense attorney also. Speaking of which, I wonder if the defense attorney was a subtle reference (both appearance and mannerisms) to notable defense attorney William Kunstler
