Guest Duke_The_Dog Report post Posted November 21, 2005 I like how Jesse Venture shows up during the SNME Rockers match to say "Here comes the technician" when Bret gets tagged in. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 I think that if Bret stopped acting like a wounded dog, HHH and HBK would have no problem having a roundtable discussion with him. HBK has expressed on several occasions that he wouldn't mind being on OTR or other similar shows with Bret; it's Bret, however, that is reluctant. With that said, the idea is not as farfetched as you might think. Except Bret doesn't want anything to do with either of those schmucks, ever. HBK's new book doesn't help either. Btw, there has been a lot of talk about time issues being a prime factor for why Bret couldn't include the Canadian Stampede match, his match with 123 Kid, or the famous Savage match. However, Flair's DVD -- also a 3 disc set -- is exactly 40 minutes longer (according to Silver Vision), so what gives? I'm guessing because WWE wanted to release Bret's DVD without further delay even after the incredible time crunch the production crew had to endure from completely changing the negative DVD into a positive one while adding in 10 more matches than the original amount. HellSpawn 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 There should've been a roundtable discussion between Vince, Bret, HBK and HHH discussing Montreal on the DVD. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Okay, you convince those four guys to get in the same room together. Let me know how that works. Also, Bret didnt want a dvd focused on Montreal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The roundtable discussion would've only lasted around 40 minutes. Bret could've still had another two hours dedicated to his career before and after that. Since Bret will be mainly remembered for Montreal, it needed to be properly addressed, even if Bret wanted to (rightfully) cover the rest of his career. I think that if Bret stopped acting like a wounded dog, HHH and HBK would have no problem having a roundtable discussion with him. HBK has expressed on several occasions that he wouldn't mind being on OTR or other similar shows with Bret; it's Bret, however, that is reluctant. With that said, the idea is not as farfetched as you might think. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My $0.02 OK , hopefully this will NOT turn into another... lets say... HBK/Bret/Montreal discussion #456781245667 1st. You want Bret in a roundtable with HBK, HHH, Vince. So..3 vs 1? I dunno, that sounds a little heavy on one side, dont you think? 2nd. I know everyone wants to have a WWE True Montreal Story. But you already said one bigger point. Is *Bold* in your post. 3rd. You saiud HBK really wanted to clear this thing, well, he already sid somethin on wrestling with shadows, another thin on that Shoot interview that is iout there, another thing on Confidential, another thing *on character* on several Raws. BUT... HONESTTLY... This one IS GONNA BE THE ABSOLUTE TRUE, With God as my witnes... wait, he already said that God thing before The last one was not fully serious... OK. I think we already have so much versions of Montreal, you can go and fill in the blanks. you really dont need Vince, the Clique and Bret to get the whole enchilada. And... Come F'n On!!! You really want to killl all that Awesome HEEL heat for HBK in Canada? You really want to erase from WWF/E History that Amazing chant... You Scrwed Bret... You Scrwed Bret... You Scrwed Bret... ? And believe me man, I will always remember Montreal 97. But I definetly (spelling?) prefer a calm Bret, a happy Bret, aWWF¡E Hall of Fame Bret.... than a Pissed Bret again. Peace. Besides, WWE has had their side of the story portrayed for years.
Guest tony manero Report post Posted November 22, 2005 By saying Bret would rightfully want to cover the rest of his career, that's what I meant when I said Bret would still have 2 hours on the DVD to talk about the rest of his career. As for the roundtable discussion, Meltzer should be on it, too.

HellSpawn 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 Some help. A friend of me is going to Texas in this days. Anyone knows if he can still get Bret's DVD cheap? You know, on some Best buy (This is the one that give away a Cap?) or another store? I mean, it's a $25-35 DVD, isnt it?

CBright7831 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 If Bret doesn't get inducted into the HOF next year (which judging by reports, he won't due to his long vacation in Italy), I'm just going to give up hope on him ever being put in there. I don't know why Bret wouldn't want to be put in at this point.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 $22-23 at my Super Wal-Mart although I'm not really worried about the match against Austin being fucked up since I plan on picking up the WM Anthology anyways.
Guest TootyFruity Report post Posted November 22, 2005 Just an FYI on the Bret DVD for those that were mad about the Bret/Austin audio. Here's an e-mail update from someone at the WWE Shopzone: We are aware of this problem. The improved Bret Hart DVD's should be available within the next month on WWE Shop. snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 I didnt think the audio during the Austin match was that big of a deal. Its only really noticeable a couple of times. Besides I grew up paying $39.95 for Coliseum Videos or $9.99 for Wal-Mart videos with 5 or 6 matches....Ill accept a few glitches when its a 3 dvd set for 20 dollars. Guest Tuxedo Mask Report post Posted November 23, 2005 There was a piece of music used in the feature I recognized but not immediatley. After listening some more I realized it was the music WWE used for Sandman's entrance on the ONS DVD. That was kinda weird, but all of that production music makes rounds onto everything. One DVD I was watching awhle ago, or maybe something on Confidential, was using the same background music that one of those 30 minute bikini infomercials for 900 #'s used (not that an upstanding justice keeper like myself indulges in those broadcasts).. that too was weird. Uh, because he doesn't like WWE/F anymore? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually, he's stated on several occasions that it would be too overwhelming for him; that is, his stroke has made him much more emotional than before and he's apprehensive about bawling his eyes out in a very emotional farewell speech. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted November 23, 2005 The real revelation on the first disc is the Stampede footage. I seriously wish they had included that entire Dynamite Kid/Bret match from about 1980-81. That match looked AWESOME for the time period, hell it looked awesome even today. Ditto the 1982 match with Bad News that was a ladder match. Just amazingly revolutionary compared to the dreary snoozers that the WWF was doing at that time. I'll start watching the other two discs tonight. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just reading about how hard the turnbuckles were in Stampede. I've seen DK doing his upside down flip 500 miles an hour into them and thinking that was one of the best bumps I've ever seen. What DK vs Bret match that they show 30 secs of? There are two Bret vs DK (cliped of corse) floating around and I want to know if it's one of these two bouts. Can anyone describe the highlights for me? Thanks For anyone whoe wants to know if memory serves me right Bret gives credit to Dan Kroffat for inventing the ladder match. Bret Hart and DK in Stampede had a ladder match that both rave about. It actually had an ending similar to the end of the Michaels vs Razor Mania X match. Most of the Stampede footage is clipped from the time period when Bret was there. There has been rumour in the past about someone having the complete footage on film but that's all that's really known. I believe some old footage was destroyed due to a fire or something. Fro 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Man watching Rockers-Harts again makes me wish the WWF was smart enough back then to do a triple threat tag match with them and Demos. Could of been real fun. Was that the original plan at Slam or something? I mean the Rockers were sort of just..phased out. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Up until 1991, The Rockers were just seen as jobbers. It'd be the same if Benjamin was wrestling Cena and Angle interfered. Benjamin would be quietly fazed out so the heat would remain on Cena and Angle. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not to mention, the whole idea of a "triple threat" or "triangle match" wasn't popular until ECW started doing them. I won't say they were the absolute first company to do it, but it wasn't done in the national companies before 1994 or so when ECW started doing them regularly. Bizarre to think about now that there's a billion of these matches and variants in all the feds, but ECW pretty much invented that match.

CBright7831 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 It would've been nice if the Bret, Owen, Bulldog vs. Austin, Taker, Dude Love Flag match from July 1997 on RAW from Nova Scotia was on the DVD. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would have been pretty cool considering that was the first match that got me hooked back in the WWF. At the time, I had just got back into wrestling in May and I was a WCW guy. Nitro was not on on Monday (and would have been on Tuesday), so I was flipping through the channels and there's HBK in the ring talking in a promo. I forget what he said, but he was talking (more than likely about being referee at SummerSlam). Later Bret came down and got into a scuffle with Vince, and then later Vince got up from his announce position and went to the back as HBK had been jumped. And then that was the main event. I remember Bret getting the flag and winning the match. After that, I began to watch more and more of RAW.

Promoter 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 This might be a little off topic, but on 24/7 this month a theme is wrestling's biggest shockers. Of course, the big two are Hogan's heel turn and the Montreal screwjob in terms of the big two ppv shows for this month(it also has the birth of ECW). However, what I found interesting was the RAW episodes with HBK celebrating his title win and him kissing Bret's ass. Even Lawler makes a comment about it. Then on the RAW after that with Bret in Germany the guy really is "smarting". Michael Cole who does the introductions even stated Bret was "smarting" over his loss to HBK. Now, I always believed this even back then, but Bret really did seem like he hated the fact he had to job to HBK. He stated he felt betrayed anytime he lost the belt especially in this situation. I just find it funny that HBK tried to put over Bret as a true champion, yet Bret was downgrading how HBK won and how he felt HBK didn't deserve the title. Bret even stated he was greedy for respect and not money and was a reason why he wouldn't jump. When he came back all Bret did was state how Austin was the #1 wrestler in the world. I just thought I would throw this out there as perhaps Bret kind of started this whole pissing contest. Maybe HBK felt that since Bret kept putting him down as champion he wouldn't do the job back to Bret which started the whole problem to begin with. I even remember Bret taking potshots at HBK in wwf mag with his son Blade in 1996 and also in the Calgary columns about his stripper image ruining the wwf. I just felt this had to be said because this part of their rivalry is never brought up. I think this had to play a part with HBK's refusal to job to Bret at Mania 13 and also his comment about not doing the same for Bret around Survivor Series which made Bret really against jobbing to the guy. HBK has stated in his book that Bret wasn't a great wrestler, but a good wrestler. It's contradicting all of his ass kissing on Bret for his post Mania interview and yes I know there is a line of kayfabe on the show in terms of that, but he made it an issue to give props to Bret. Vince wanted to go onto storyline with Lawler and Diesel feuds, yet HBK brought the topic back to Bret's greatness.
