I didn't get on the computer at all yesterday, and I did not know that Eddie had died until just a few minutes ago. Get your tape recorders ready, because I KNOW this will be a good show tonight.

It's a tribute to Eddie's career, not his death. We should spend the night enjoying and remembering everything he did, not crying because he can't leave us with anything more.

John Bradshaw Layfield is scheduled to appear on MSNBC this afternoon at around 3:30pm est. on "MSNBC Live" to discuss the passing of Eddie Guerrero.

I'm going to enhoy the hell out of that show tonight (particularly if the matches I saw on the spoiler-free lineups got any time at all).

 

That doesn't mean I'm not going to be choked up for most of the evening.

Bradshaw said that while he was going through a divorce a while back, Eddie would bring him scripture to read to comfort him, as well as other passages from books, and he found out that Eddie had been doing that for a lot of the other guys.

 

He also said that Eddie made his career by working with him over the world title. He said that he has Eddie to thank for getting him to reach the point of being a main eventer. That's very humble of him to say such as that.

 

It was a short interview, but those are two of the main highlights. I recorded it, so I'll watch it again really quick and post what I missed:

-Bradshaw had to be escorted by police quite a few times because the Hispanic fans hated him so much and loved Eddie so much

-Eddie sensed something was wrong with Bradshaw, leading to giving him the scriptures and passages

-Eddie asked those in WWE to give Bradshaw a chance

-Exact quote - "Because of him, I own him my entire career."

-Says Eddie's personal life was great lately, his family and mom recently moved to Phoenix

-"Apparently died instantly, he still had his toothbrush in his hand."

-Talked about the four years of sobriety

-"It's an honor to talk about my friend Eddie."

 

He obviously mentioned how much he misses him, how much he meant to the business, etc...

Bradshaw painted a very positive portrait of Eddie, mentioning how Eddie helped him through his divorce and helped him achieve credible main-event status. He put Eddie over as one of the top performers in the world, and the first mexican-american to win the WWE title. Really nice segment, I thought, with mostly respectful questions. I will admit I was a little angry that they asked about drugs and alcohol, but most of the world probably doesn't know Eddie's story, so I guess it's an obvious question.

That was a very positive interview they did there with Eddie. He even gives Eddie credit to getting him to the main event level! Good segment. Nothing really bad about it besides the drugs and alcohol mentioned, but as DeadBoy said, not everyone may know his past story.

Well said. We're all sad because we'll never see him again but he had a great career and he did finally get his due unlike a lot of other wrestling deaths. Owen for one. He went out respected by millions of people around the world and at the top in his profession. His death also seemed to be pretty quick since Chavo had just eaten breakfast with him and didn't know anything was wrong. Eddie didn't even have time to take the toothbrush out of his mouth. I feel bad for Benoit, Malenko, Mysterio, etc.. and his family, but I honestly don't see much reason to feel sorry for Eddie. Eddie had an awesome life and died having fun. If I had the option right now of dying a fast death at 38 with everything I've ever wanted to do accomplished in life surrounded by lots of friends and family, I'd be more than glad to. So when you watch moments on Raw, try not to think that he's gone and you'll never see him again, but instead try to think of how much he was enjoying what he was doing at the time and how good he was. Like Fishy said, Raw isn't a funeral, it's a tribute.

With all due respect to Eddie, you need to just expect drugs and the such to come up in interviews given his past history. It's something you can't ignore, because the fact remains that it could have had to do with his death.

You're right Downhome. It's something to be expected due to the nature of the beast, and the fact that Eddie did have a problem that is integral to his story. And to understand the man, is to understand his past, good or ill.

 

But remember everyone, Eddie fought his past, and won. No can take that away, unless he did relapse (which seems unlikely with the details presented at the moment). Even if he did, at least he fought.

This may sound stupid, but I think it's far more likely we'll find out the chairshot had something to do with this before we hear anything about him having a relapse.

You're right, pwtorch originally reported that he died after they eat breakfast. Now they're saying Eddie and Chavo ate together before they went to sleep. Still, in any case it's not like he was suffering for days if Chavo didn't sense anything wrong a few hours before hand. And it must have been sudden if he died with a toothbrush still in his mouth.
