Xbox 360

Recommended Posts

Ninja Gaiden looks cool. I loved the NES games. But I'm very wary of putting $60 toward a game I know nothing about, which got good but not great reviews, and I haven't even played the Xbox version.

It's a fun and very VERY bloody game.....it's awesome. Not only that but the AI is actually kind of difficult as well, even on easy. You'll learn real fast that it's really not messing around as you're pretty much fighting to survive each mob you come across. I really recommand it.

But if you're still wary about paying $60.00 for a game you're not to sure about. I recommand you download Ninja Gaiden Black on XBL, it's a really good game...and yeah, it'll rape you for quite awhile as well.

Andrew, I wasn't aware that you no longer had gold. No wonder I never see you on. But for future reference, I have been having to remove people (upwards of 20 now) from my friends list to make room for others. If I remove you because of that, nothing personal. Not that I think you'll care either way.

Toby, I considered downloading NG Black since I got two of the 1600 point cards for $5 each. But it was too big to fit on my hard drive. 5.3 gigs... fuck that.

I downloaded the Civ demo earlier. I'll probably try it tomorrow.

I didn't like it. These types of games just don't translate to consoles well at all.

Aye, I gave it a go too. I can see what they've tried to work and the streamlined approach works well, just a shame they throttled the demo to like 100 turns, as just as I was getting into it, the game ended. I like how the workers are on auto, that saves alot of hassle. I'll probably pick it up once it crashes into the bargin bin.

As for Battlefield: Bad Company - it sucked. It just felt like a real snide copy of COD4, with some badly tweaked trucks thrown in that just don't want to respond any better then a bar of soap with jelly for wheels.

Battlefield demo was horrid. it was somewhat pretty in some spots, but ugly in others and the gameplay fucking blew. It also suffers from "enemies are deadly accurate from a mile away with a machine gun" syndrom which is annoying as all hell.

I just picked up Gears of War, Assassin's Creed (both at Target), Lego Indiana Jones, and Lost: Via Domus (both at Wal-Mart) earlier today. All brand new, for $108 and change.

Well, my 1st box finally got 3ROD. Here's to you kid! /salute

How long did take? I'm scared about mine. I have the 2nd generation Pro System with the Zephyr motherboard.

1 year 3 months, so 3 months after warrenty ended lol Getting it replaced via Microsoft though, so its all good. However, it only 3 redlights after playing a graphically intense game such as Lost Oddessy. I can watch dvds just fine on it.

None taken.

Partly it was just it running out, and part of it was me playing PSP/PS2/Wii more, my 360 then breaking, and waiting for my repair/return.

The original Ninja Gaiden is dirt cheap these days, though, and Ninja Gaiden Black isn't *that* different.

Okay, well if you ever get gold again, let me know. Also, do you know where I can find a sealed copy of Ninja Gaiden?

Chriswok, did you end up getting any free time on Live due to that whole deal with the card they tried billing being expired?

Well they all must be starting to catch up...mine just died a few minutes ago :( .

Just as I order shit off ebay. Damnit. I called the Xbox number though, and went through that process easily enough, and now have to wait for the box and the repair. For anyone who's done this before, I think he said something about having to put the number he gave me at the end on the shipping box somewhere or something? Is this the case?

Well, after refusing service, Microsoft caved and had me send in my Box to get repaired. I have to reconnect all my controllers and reaquire all my licenses for downloaded stuff, but the Box is the same. For those that aren't technologically stupid like myself, does that mean they put in a new motherboard/chip? If so, I'm hoping it's one of the new Opus boards, which I've heard are supposed to cool more efficiently. We shall see.

For re-licensing, yeah--I'd say you most def have a new motherboard. Mine just needed the opt drive replaced when I got it fixed, and none of my downloaded stuff had any problems.

Been 10 days and still nothing from xbox! I think the labels you get, you put onto the box (one with microsoft's address) and the other into the box (one with your address). Might ring them back up if they haven't knocked on the door buy Friday.

Well I just received my box from Xbox (2 days later...) So if you haven't heard anything yet maybe you do need to call them. Unless you were referring to an actual repair rather then the box.

I meant the initial box to get it sent away for repair, they've not just sent a second email with more labels... I love microsoft

After my friend set his Xbox Live account to be from the US, I officially hate all of the marketplace content you Yankees get. It's annoying too because while Microsoft seems easily duped into saying "Sure, look at what you could buy for $2", trying just brings up a regional restriction warning.

He also has a Japanese account which seems pretty cool. That one does let you download regional exclusive demos.

This will probably go up there with the day I got Nintendowned for writing a letter to Nintendo complaining about all the customers bugging me for Nintendo Wiis... but... I wrote a fucked off email complaining to Microsoft about their fucked up repair system, its below:

To whom it may concern,

Microsoft's policy for repairing consoles is a joke. I spent 30 minutes talking to an adviser today called Katie Jones, who refused to remove herself from 'Microsoft policy' in regards to repairing consoles.

She said it was policy to repair consoles, and those that could not be repaired would be replaced with a refurbished console - one that had been previously repaired (which would mean that it was one that was previously faulty). Katie was unable to give any estimated time scale as to how long this new console would last, not even a month, two months or a year. She was unable to comment, which shows she had little confidence in the refurbished console lasting any length of time. This means I'll be back where I am now, sending a console to Germany, waiting 3-4 weeks for a repair/ANOTHER refurbished console being sent to me. This is terrible.

This is a machine that was released with a design flaw, something Microsoft where aware about and have recently (as of August 2007) changed their chipset to help remove. Why it is beyond Microsoft to value a customer and send them a NEW console with the IMPROVED chipset to help remove overheating and RROD is beyond me. This just shows how little Microsoft care for their customers, and are happy for them to get annoyed and dissatisfied and buy a Playstation 3 instead.

When this refurbished console arrives at my house it will have no warranty seal on it, which is disgusting. Where do I stand now with the Microsoft warranty policy if it breaks? If I send it back for a repair will I be accused of tampering and have no repair/refurbished replacement.

Surely if something breaks due to bad design, it is within the consumers right to have a free upgrade. I will be contacting the UK Trading Standards (http://www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/) over this issue, and asking the UK Trade Investigating TV show 'Watchdog' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/) to look into this. As well as warning any of my friends from buying a Microsoft Xbox 360 of future consoles.

Having read over the Microsoft Policy on repair, as directed to by Katie, I fail to see anywhere on both the Open Letter from Peter Moore (http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/petermooreletter.htm), the Warranty Updated (http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/systemsetup/xbox360/resources/warrantyupdate.htm) or the Warranty FAQ (http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/systemuse/xbox360/resources/warrantyfaq.htm). Either I'm being lied to or you're going to send me a BRAND new console, or I will take this matter further.

In fairness to Katie Jones, she answered my original question very well, and she was probably as frustrated as I was with the call after that. She has probably been trained and told to say what she had to say, even when she went to talk to her Supervisor Jack Brown, who didn't talk to me directly but told Katie Jones just to repeat what she already had said. I would like to apologise to Katie Jones if I annoyed her during the call due to my dissatisfaction with Microsoft.

I think I showed weakness at the end saying sorry to the adviser that hard lined me throughout the call, but I know it can be tough. I even throw her off her game, by telling to stop saying sorry and showing empathy as she didn't mean it, it was just a behavior she was asked to show.

Good letter, and helps illustrate why MS has so boned up this whole operation. I heard that MS was adding extra heatsinks to the refurbed units they were sending out, and there's ways to identify it if you had a refurb:

Microsoft's reply to my email:

Dear Mr.Kilburn

We appreciate the time spent in writing this email. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we are extremely sorry for this issue you are facing, but for your inquiry it has to be dealt over the phone as your inquiry requires then more investigation so please contact our Xbox Customer Support team in order to learn more about the process that should be taken.

Bunch of knobs. The advisor on the phone told me to email if I had a complaint to make, now the email response team want me to email!

my reply:

I was told over the phone if I wanted to complain to write an email via the website. I'm now being told by the email response to phone to complain? This sounds like a run around to me. I will be adding this to my case I will be presenting to the UK Trading Standards and Watchdog's Investigation into Microsoft's handling of customers, their repairs and their complaints.

Then I went on to give them my mobile number telling them they can phone ME, with time and days available, about the issue haha that'll show 'em! ... not. I'll probably end up calling them tomorrow like the weak willed ape I am.

That game is complete garbage. Day it came out..someone that night returned it and proclaimed how piss poor it was. Hit detection is crap..I love how the computer can throw a punch and as he's pulling his hand back, I get hit with a cross.

Sorry..Don King hustled all you guy's that bought this game.

Only in America!
