Guest Coffey Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Because Triple H is the cerebral assassin. He is that damn good. He's a TEN TIME WWE World's Heavyweight Champion. He's beaten them all: The Rock, Mick Foley, Steve Austin, Ric Flair, etc. Honestly, most likely, it's because WWE knew he was going to be in the majority of the main events after his return, so they probably wanted him to look more dominant than the majority of the roster. Keeping his finisher strong, as in stronger than everyone elses finisher, was probably just another method of protection. There have been people to kick out of it. They're just few and far between. HBK, Batista, I think Hogan. We all know about the WARRIOR no-sell but that was well before he was SUPER WRESTLER H³. I mean, seriously, we all know the real reasons. He's WWE's "golden child." He's Vince's "boy." He's married to Stephanie McMahon whom is the head writer. He's loyal, been around for awhile, has his ear in on everything, etc. It's just all of that added together. That all being said, Triple H is still my favorite wrestler on Raw. No one else really comes close.

Guest Hass of Pain Report post Posted December 7, 2005 WWE ratings have absolutely no rhyme or reason. There was a weak Monday Night Football game on which may have contributed, but it's not like the rating was strong this week because it was such a good show. People have no idea if they are going to get a good show or a bad one when they tune in, if anything it is indicative that people liked what they saw last week and wanted to tune in to see what would happen next. This show was generally considered to be really strong, but next week Raw could very well draw a 3.3. There really is no pattern you can pull out of these things anymore, aside from the fact that there is none. It doesn't matter anyway, buyrates and house show attendance are fluctuations that people should be scrutinizing the hell out of every week.
imajackoff? 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 i liked this show 'cuz it allowed me to dig Foley again. No uninspired "battles"with Carlito, no excessive pimping of a book, just Foley being Foley. The batman lunchbox serving as his briefcase is classic.
justcoz 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) WWE ratings have absolutely no rhyme or reason. It was more than likely all of these contributing factors. Sure there was a curiosity to see whether or not Eric Bischoff would get fired and if they'd name his replacement. Still, I don't think this was a HUGE factor like many of you are implying because there was no bump last week in Raw's rating when that show was based around whether Bischoff would save his job. And the whole, "you're getting fired" thing has been played out plenty of times with a number of characters, never sparking a rating. There was a weak Monday Night Football game. Many television shows, particularly the network lineups, were reruns. There was no competition from something like Two and a Half Men or Medium. So people tuned in to wrestling. They saw Vince McMahon looking like a jackass in a robe, playing judge. Mick Foley playing an attorney with a batman lunchbox, eating moon pies. They saw an 80 year old woman gesturing that she eats pussy. An interpretor translating Tajiri telling Coach that he has no penis. A big black man break a clock over his head. Edge talk about Ric Flair's arrest. A good HBK/Shelton angle. And they kept watching. It's really quite simple. Edited December 7, 2005 by justcoz

Cowboy Battlenuts 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 GOOD! The more people watching the only angle Shelton's got in the last 3 months the better. All they have to do now is push him to the moon and all will be right in the world....
Guest Andrew J. Report post Posted December 8, 2005 I've had this theory for a little while, that the rating more accurately reflects the quality of the last week's show. Notice how the infamous JR sketch show earlier this year got a decent rating but Raw the next week did fairly poor.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 The best Raw since the move to USA, IMO, was *last* week. I think that explains some of the new viewers, hearing of a good show, and tuning in. This week was kinda dry ring-wise, and the comedy was "eh". I didn't like McMahon's claim that people were excited about the Elim Chamber, it proves the fans never really dictate what's cool, like they did in 97-99. As it was it was very enteratining to me for a change. Foley was gold, come on MOON PIES you gotta love that.

Jericholic82, what this means is that I was unhappy that Vince McMahon STILL claimed the fans wanted the Elim Chamber match after they were audibly silent for it. McMahon stated: "Well, that was pretty (he used another word for "supportive"). It was clear that they were going to stick with the Elim Chamber match gimmick for the PPV even if the fans began chanting "CHAM-BER SUCKS!"

I know what you meant, what I was doing was agreeing with your statement, sorry I should have just said that flat out. one more thing to add Foley showing the bischoff/steph kiss from halloween is weird, considering that steph seemed like she liked it back then (an angle that was completely sropped the next week), it also reminds us of the fact that steph used to be SD gm (and remember she was fired when she lost a match to her DAD whome she was feuding with in 03) and since they have made no effort to explain why daddy and daughter have made up, it was kinda weird to see. naiwf 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 since they have made no effort to explain why daddy and daughter have made up, it was kinda weird to see. Vince mentioned that the whole family had gone through extensive counseling recently. I want to say it was at Homecoming, but I can't remember exactly. It was basically a throwaway line, but they did at least address the situation.

chaosrage 0 Report post Posted December 8, 2005 I've had this theory for a little while, that the rating more accurately reflects the quality of the last week's show. Notice how the infamous JR sketch show earlier this year got a decent rating but Raw the next week did fairly poor. Sometimes that works. I mean it would be stupid to try to determine anything from the Raw rating of the JR sketch because the sketch happened almost at the end of the show. What are people going to do, go back in time and tell themselves not watch Raw that night? But here's one example where that theory doesn't work. The McMahon vs Austin Raw where they finally beat WCW in ratings. Usually you'll find that if you give people a reason to keep watching, they will and the rating will be higher. This week's Raw was an entertaining show, that's why it got a high rating.
