Guest tony manero Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 He constantly referred to himself in the third person and pretty much acted like a bit of a prick, when everyone else was speaking from the heart and was very genuine. Hell, even fucking Masters knew to come out of character when being interviewed about the troops.
Placebo Effect Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 He's an inexperienced idiot who works for a company that assumed that their wrestlers were smart enough to know when and when not to be in character. Evidently they assumed wrong.
Damaramu Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Like I said before. When I interviewed him at the Unforgiven press conference he stayed in character. When I actually asked him "Can you speak for real and not in character?" He acted offended and in character went on about how Carlito was a real person and blah blah blah.
RavishingRickRudo Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Hey man, livin the gimmick, that's old school. K-5 Baby.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Well...he is Carlito. He's a character you can't really get out of.
Art Sandusky Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Oh please, it was the fun kind of prick, if you could even call it that. Not like he told the soliders they weren't cool because of their fatigues being ugly or something.
Silence Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Carlito = Puerto Rican Ultimate Warrior
Guest Jack Potts Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 The real question is: Why doesn't he have a FINISHER?!!* That is absolutely the most annoying thing about his character! (*Note to WWE: School boy Roll-up, Roll-up with Illegal Pulling of Tights, Roll-up with Rope Assist, or any variation thereof is NOT a finisher.)
nl5xsk1 Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Oh please, it was the fun kind of prick, if you could even call it that. Not like he told the soliders they weren't cool because of their fatigues being ugly or something. I agree with Kotz ... it's not like his gimmick mocks the soldiers. Plus, I doubt that he was acting on his own. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he was instructed to stay in character. Lastly, why WOULDN'T the wrestlers stay in character? They're there to entertain the soldiers.
Black Lushus Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 I couldn't picture Carlito without the accent and the rotten attitude...the soldiers probably enjoy him heeling it up so why should WE bitch about it?
Guest Leelee Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Lastly, why WOULDN'T the wrestlers stay in character? They're there to entertain the soldiers. I agree. I'd think that most of the troops just want to have a good time watching these guys flop around, and do the usual stupidity with their characters. It's not like they're going to tear up because some carny wrestler says they respect said troops.
jwpeer Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Personally I think Carlito should spit apple in Rita Crosby's face. The soldiers would probably get a kick out of that
Danville_Wrestling Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 The real question is: Why doesn't he have a FINISHER?!!* That is absolutely the most annoying thing about his character! (*Note to WWE: School boy Roll-up, Roll-up with Illegal Pulling of Tights, Roll-up with Rope Assist, or any variation thereof is NOT a finisher.) My friend and I joked that he should get a roll-up with his feet on the ropes as his finisher in SvR 2006. That could actually create some funny (and also HIGHLY annoying) situations, but it'd make the game realistic.
Guest slmon Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 "Hey man, livin the gimmick, that's old school. K-5 Baby." Agreed. I think that he was brought up in the old school tradition by Carlos Colon. He is always in character while out in public. I'd love to see him appear on Michael Landsberg's "OTR" show and watch Landsberg's frustration mount!
Black Lushus Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Personally I think Carlito should spit apple in Rita Crosby's face. The soldiers would probably get a kick out of that that would certainly get him more over in MY eyes!
Team Angle Pusher Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 The real question is: Why doesn't he have a FINISHER?!!* That is absolutely the most annoying thing about his character! (*Note to WWE: School boy Roll-up, Roll-up with Illegal Pulling of Tights, Roll-up with Rope Assist, or any variation thereof is NOT a finisher.) He HAS a finisher, pay attention. Everybody keeps saying he needs a finisher. He already has one
Black Lushus Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 true, he just doesn't use it often...i think when he did it outside the ring on Mick Foley several weeks back was the last time, no?
Downhome Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 I didn't see any problem with it at all. I actually thought it was a nice change of pace, and I'm sure most of the guys and gals there thought so too.
cabbageboy Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 No, he does NOT have a finisher. A finisher to me is defined as "A devastating move a wrestler uses to finish off his opponent and win a match." Does Carlito have anything that resembles that? And yes, I know he's done the Roll of the Dice a couple of times (against Foley on the floor, against Rey in the Smackdown sneak attack) but to my knowledge he's never won any notable match with it. The amusing thing is that in the recent Michaels match they did a finisher reversal sequence out of that Roll of the Dice move, but the crowd had no clue since he's never actually WON A MATCH with it.
SuperJerk Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 He's an inexperienced idiot who works for a company that assumed that their wrestlers were smart enough to know when and when not to be in character. Evidently they assumed wrong. I can guaran-DAMN-tee that if Ric Flair or Stone Cold was over there, they'd be in character. Hell, Vince was in character when he made the troops yell "Good morning, sir" to him Wednesday.
Black Lushus Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 okay okay cabbage, if this were the No Mercy video game and his Special Meter was flashing, that would be the move he would do when you grapple and tap the middle trigger on the controller...is that better?
iliketurtles Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 His back special would be a roll up, though.
Black Lushus Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 His back special would be a roll up, though. I'd have to go back and look, but I believe that is my Carlito CAW's back special move...
Slickster Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 His back special would be a roll up, though. Roll The Dice is a rear-grapple move, is it not?
Black Lushus Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 you may be correct, I can't remember, I haven't touched the game in awhile...
dubq Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Hasn't Vince already gone off on the boys this year a few times, and told them to ALWAYS be in character when they're in the public, no matter what?
Guest Jack Potts Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 The real question is: Why doesn't he have a FINISHER?!!* That is absolutely the most annoying thing about his character! (*Note to WWE: School boy Roll-up, Roll-up with Illegal Pulling of Tights, Roll-up with Rope Assist, or any variation thereof is NOT a finisher.) He HAS a finisher, pay attention. Everybody keeps saying he needs a finisher. He already has one Sir, I have paid attention. It does not exist. If Carlito uses the Roll-Of-The-Dice, it is certainly not employed as a finishing move, because the only move I have seen him use to secure a three-count is one of his infinite roll-up variations. Carlito is to roll-ups as Tazz was to suplexes. Come to think of it, that is an appropriate finisher for the guy. Since apples are such a big part of his gimmick, just call his finisher "The Fruit Roll-Up."
dubq Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Is his finisher not the leg/neckbreaker thing that Randy Orton used to use (Overdrive)? Dubbed "the Cool Breaker" by Carlito? I've never seen him use it, but this is what I've read somewhere before.
