I don't want a Pedro start. I'd like to see the Cubs win. Besides, I saw Pedro in 2004. Good enough for me. I'm just hoping I get so see someone like Prior or Wood pitch. I've only been to four Cubs games in my life, but Greg Maddux has pitched in all but one of them. Of course, he was playing for Atlanta in one of them, but the Cubs had Shawn Estes on the mound.

Sounds like we can look forward to another exciting season of Barry Bonds, Yankees, and Red Sox coverage from ESPN.

Supposedly Bonds is going to be finished after this season, if his body isn't feeling too good...at least that's what he claimed in an interview last week. Personally I would feel some sense of satisfaction seeing him go down with an injury and never break Hank Aaron's record.

Hey Al - is Cole Hamels ever going to amount to anything? The dude has had injury problems, and now I read that his back has been bothering him. At this point, I'd rather the Phillies look to trade him on the prospect that some other team will overvalue him. I'm fearing that the Phils will hold on to him too long, and he'll never fulfill his potential.

Bonds is so much of a heel asshole that I even hate him. I hope he gets 1 HR behind Babe... ESPN shows every at bat of his for like a month, and Barry blows up his knee before reaching the record. Then, he can claim his knee is racist.

And the winner of the first offseason move to backfire goes to...the Washington Nationals.

http://www.wvec.com/sharedcontent/APStorie.../D8G0B1NGD.html

Brian Lawrence wanted to come into his first training camp with the Washington Nationals and make an impact — and the starting rotation.

It's all on hold now until at least after the all-star break.

Lawrence was diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The injury was discovered in an MRI conducted Friday night, team doctor Bruce Thomas said Saturday.

Thomas said the best-case scenario has Lawrence returning after midseason; at worst, the right-hander will be out until September.

Couple this with Alfonso Soriano still refusing to move to left field this is going to be a looooooooooooooooooooong season for the Nats. Jim Bowden will be back at ESPN in 2007.

I lost out on someone cause I didn't want to drop him in my dynasty league. Shit.

Hamels is probably too undervalued to get a fair deal in a trade at this point. His stats speak for themselves, and I had the opportunity to watch him pitch personally. When he does pitch, his stuff is spot on. That he hasn't suffered a pitching arm injury gives some hope yet.

Even if Lawrence never pitches an inning for the Nats, at worse they dumped Vinny Castilla to make room for a top ten prospect. Hardly a bad deal.

The Os signed Richard Hidalgo to a minor league contract.

The 2006 Orioles Outfield: Reclamation Project City! Starring: Corey Patterson, Richard Hidalgo, Kevin Millar and Luis Matos! Featuring Jeff Conine as the wily old sheriff and David Newhan as the young cop trying to earn his stripes.

Nah, I actually like the amount of depth we're piling on. Competition should make everyone play harder and you got to figure some of these guys are gonna bounce back.

I received a pamphlet from the Mets today, which detailed their season ticket and group packages. On the front, it said...

"Get Your Tickets Before the Bandwagon Does"

...which is another example of the confidence bordering on cockiness some of the Mets' players and management have displayed thus far. I just hope they plan on playing well enough to justify their own expectations.

I think that campaign is kinda funny, but I can see egos making the Mets combust this year.

Sounds like two New York teams making guarantees which hopefully neither will live up to.

Hidalgo/Patterson/Gibbons is a decent OF if Hidalgo is healthy (should be good for 25 HR/80 RBI), Patterson plays like he did in 2004 (should be good for 15 HR 70 RBI 30 SB) and Gibbons builds on last year (should be good for 30 HR 90 RBI). That would be a much better OF than they've put on the field over the last few years.
