Cool finisher, horrible name

(I posted this on wrestlingclassics too,,but i like to get a variety of opinions)

What are some cool-looking finishers with awful names? I'd say the canadian destroyer,,awesome finisher, but the name sounds more like a wrestler's nickname than a wrestling move. Others include sweet chin music, the slop drop, the pedigree (the blueblood gimmick has gone the way of gimbels hunter, name it "game over" or something), and stratusfaction/chick kick .

Marc Mero's shooting star press "Wild Thing." Fortunately, when it was brought back it was redubbed "Marvelocity."

Along the same lines "F5" was pretty bad, and "The Verdict" seems a big improvement.

I liked the name "F-5." "The Verdict" sounds cool and all, but what's the reasoning behind it? Is the move supposed to look like a gavel coming down or something?

Anyway, I remember hating it when Kanyon's Flatliner was renamed "I'm Better Than You" in WWE. Cool move, dumb name.

It's just to stick it to WWE for the trial.

Oh, and one move here: The Moss Covered Three Handled Family Credenza.

The Last Ride is corny. Whisper in the Wind, which is a corkscrew moonsault anyway. I never liked renaming moves which already have an established name. Last Call is also in that category, but that's not too bad of a name.

Space Flying Tiger Drop: Normally, I think Japanese wrestlers give their moves the coolest names, but this one's too far out there for me.

Muscle Buster: Too plain, just doesn't click with me.

The Papoose to Go--Tatanka's version of the Samoan Drop. Thankfully got renamed to the End of the Trail.
I only heard Heenan call it that when he made fun of Tatanka

the moss covered credenza was an awesome name :D

the "Insert name" driver -> after the first few named drivers it got ridiculous

how bout I hit you with the Jablonski driver or whatever!

or the "move name '05"? that's just lame too

I mean "Flying spring roll pop '06"? what's that all about

First of all, I have heard the hollycaust called that by name by some announcer. Second, announcers have 2 very important jobs: get over the guy's name and call his finisher so it looks like the most devistating thing ever. The do NOT do that with kennedy. It's the Lambeau Leap. Call it!

It has been called the Hollycaust before. JR called it that at Over The Edge 1999

Yes, THAT show. I did see it on Sky Sports. Probably still have it on tape somewhere - but JR explicity called the Falcon Arrow, "The Hollycaust"

Mero doesnt really have luck with finisher names, his KO punch in wcw was called "the kiss that dont miss".

All the Danny Doring and Tokyo Magnum moves are ridiculously named, but, I guess, aprropriate. Buggy Bang. Viagra Driver. Adult Video Star Press. Penile implant.

Taker naming his dragon sleeper "Takin' Care of Business" which I swear was miscalled by the announcers as "Taker Care of Business" at least once.

Renaming Christian's Impaler the "Unprettier". Then they started calling his DDT the unprettier too.

Calling Hall's move the "Outsider's Edge." Just call it a crucifix bomb.

Steiner Recliner. Well, that move was never cool.

The name "Cattle Mutilation", objectively I have to say is stupid. For some reason I love it, though.

Holly's finisher was called the "Hollycaust" by WWE. It wasn't an IWC created name at all.

Yeah, I don't recall it being used too many times, but that's the name they gave it in the WWF Superstars Magazine circa 92 or so.

I never really cared for CM Punk's "Welcome to Chicago" either (Butterfly Backbreaker)...or Bam Bam's "Greetings from Asbury Park" for that matter.

The Hollycaust was hot, though. I dunno why they stopped using that one.

Actually, the Alabama Slamma makes sense. An Alabama Slammer is a type of drink, and since Holly is from Alabama, and the move is technically a slam...it makes sense.

And the adding of the date at the end of a move, ie. Tiger Driver '91, is to differentiate variations on it. The Tiger Driver itself is a double-underhook seated powerbomb, but the Tiger Driver '91 is a double-underhook kneeling sheer-drop powerbomb. Focuses on different parts of the back (original TD focuses on mid and lower back, TD91 focuses on upper back and neck), but it's too similar a move to call it something different. I quite like the additions of the date at the end of the name. Makes it sound like an updated version.

As for stupid names...

The Canadian Maple Leaf was kinda stupid, since it was all gimmick when, you know, Lance Storm just did a Half Boston Crab. Fit the gimmick, but c'mon: it's not even that much of a variation on the move.

And The Walls of Jericho SUCKS. Lion Tamer was better, as at least it made the move seem a little more punishing (as in it's painful enough to tame a lion), but really...the Walls of Jericho? They fell down. That means the move doesn't work.
