Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Wow. For me, this was the best episode since the 90 minute ep last year. Unbelievably good. Claudette NAILED him, finally. And I gotta say, seeing Aceveda in a candid moment--calling out Lem and begging him to take 1 year for all the shit the Strike Team has done--was one of the best, most believably acted moments I've seen on TV. Uh, and next week looks even better. Fuck, do I love this show.

randomguy 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I loved how Dutch berated Claudette. He has always been in her shadow with her being the veteran force, but now he has finally become at least an equal partner. A lot of this season is about people maturing. Julian is now a TO instead of being a trainee, Dutch is coming into his own, Claudette is getting old, and Vic is seriously looking for a second chance. JasonX 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I loved how Dutch berated Claudette. I thought Dutch's actions were bad. He could have taken over the interrogation especially since it was becoming more and more apparent that Claudette's health was getting worse. That said, am i the only one who liked the way the writers played up Ronnie's man of mystery status? Evil puppet master who covers his tracks so well that IAD couldn't find any dirt on him or good cop caught up with bad cops who ran around who treated him as the fifth wheel they all ignore and who's activities are now threatening to destroy Ronnie? A great way to sum up the character and to give him a great moment of going head to head with Kavanaugh without blinking or backing down or out and out folding down and giving Kavanaugh what he wanted to know..... A nice way to sum Ronnie up since we know nothing much about him and the fact that Ronnie seems to be someone who is always on the outside, manipulating things in a way that makes Ryan O'Reilly's manipulations on "Oz" look like romper room in comparision. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 hopefully Ronnie will get an actual storyline out of this. He seems like one of the most useless characters since he never does anything important.
randomguy 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2006 Yeah I like what they are doing with Ronnie. He reminds me a bit of me - never fully integrated. He's not untrustworthy but at the same time you can't trust him 100%. He plays his cards close to the vest and you can't be quite sure what's going on in his head. As far as Dutch and Claudette, I'm not saying what Dutch did was right, I just liked seeing him do it.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2006 Great episode this week. CCH Pounder deserves another Emmy nod as her work this season has once again been fantastic, maybe even better that last year. The Jimmy Johnson guest spot was great though SI gave away that it was happening. This season already has the makings of being one of the best yet.

ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 No I don't think Ronnie's some mastermined or anything, he's just the guy on the team who's low-key (and smart) enough to not make the mistakes that the other guys got caught for. Am I crazy or was that Jimmy Johnson in a cell wearing a false beard telling them it was Terry they wanted? ETA: Dear god, it was Jimmy. Ok, that's just funny. I have no idea what this means. And yeah, that was easily one of the best episodes of the Shield, mostly due to the Claudette stuff. I really loved the moment where Dutch pushes her into finishing the guy off. You can tell that he didn't want to be pushing her, but he just knew that she was strong enough to go back and finish it off. Amazing moment.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 If anyone gets an emmy award for acting this season it's Forrest Whitaker. His acting of Kavanaugh is amazing. I really think they are gonna go away for a year.
JasonX 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 If anyone gets an emmy award for acting this season it's Forrest Whitaker. His acting of Kavanaugh is amazing. I really think they are gonna go away for a year. MAJOR MAJOR SPOILER/SPECULATION It's been stated that the big ending this season is someone being thrown to the wolves in terms of going to prison in order to save the rest of the Strike Team's asses. It's also been said that it's either going to be Acaveda, Lem, Shane, Julian, Claudette, or Dutch that's gone for good after this season. Also, we've got the theme for the season: Conscience is a Killer. We've all thought it referred to Vic and/or Lem, but what if it's Shane? Think for a second; Lem and company are in the mess they are in all because of Shane and trying to save his ass last season. And given how serenely sane Shane has been this season (not to mention how little a roll he's played so far), the experience of season four has actually gotten through to Shane's dense head and made him less of a retarded person in terms of acting like an idiot. So who's to say he won't willfully sacrifice himself to IAD for tax evasion (which has a light sentence most of the time) and/or working with Antwon (which would satisfy Acaveda since he can remain relatively clean since Shane/Antwon happened on Monica Rawlings's watch, in exchange for IAD letting Lem and the Strike Team go scott free? Would make for an interesting plotline AND raise the tension between Vic and Acaveda to new heights of anger and rage on Vic's part if Acaveda is the one who orchestrates the deal and lets Vic know that if Shane doesn't go through with the plea bargin, then Vic and the Strike Team are all collectively fucekd. Which in turn will set up Vic finding out all of Acaveda's own dirty laundry to hurt Acaveda's political career in the final season.

The Ill One 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 Now that's an ending to the episode. I just want to see the shit fall apart for Kavanaugh so badly.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 I'm pissed that they appear to be splitting the season up. Last two weeks during the show have been those ads promising a season finale in March, which means that they're going to be leaving any number of the 21 filmed episodes for a "6th season," it seems. Good thing they'll probably become available through other means before then. Another really good episode. Gina Torres basically just needs to do a guest spot on Battlestar Galactica some day, and she'll have covered all my favorite TV shows.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 Wow. I thought that was a very very good episode. Infact, one of my personal favorites since the last money train episode(finale to Season 3 I believe). Really enjoyed the episode, can't wait for next week. haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 That was a severly intense final 10 minutes to that episode. Kavanaugh flying off the deep end when he realized his little break-down with his wife was being filmed was pretty crazy. I hadn't realized that the room Lem and Vic were watching the feed on was so close to the interrogation room. I think over the next couple of episodes were going to see Vic and the rest of the Strike Team go to some pretty extreme lengths to get Lem out jail, because as of now, hes just waiting to die. Darth Vader 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 What the hell was this the Kavanugh show? He just dominated the show tonight. They didn't even have time to throw in a goofy sub-plot like a fat guy getting his dick stuck inside a gloyhole. This just seemed like a very bizarre episode. Good just bizarre. Dutch loses cool points for being Kavanaugh's little pasty though.

JasonX 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 What the hell was this the Kavanugh show? He just dominated the show tonight. They didn't even have time to throw in a goofy sub-plot like a fat guy getting his dick stuck inside a gloyhole. This just seemed like a very bizarre episode. Good just bizarre. Dutch loses cool points for being Kavanaugh's little pasty though. Early spoilers for the episode hinted that it was supposed to be the much rumored spotlight episode for Kavanaugh, showing the cast from his POV with the Strike Team as evil monsters who need to be brought down and Kavanaugh as the good guy who is out to bust Vic and company for their crimes. What we got instead? Somewhere over in England Alan Moore is saying "Now Shawn Ryan is just making a mockery of Ayan Rand and her philosophies" in terms of showing Kavanaugh as a mentally deranged, die-hard Randian who makes Rorschauch look lucid in comparision. That said, Kavanaugh has set up his downfall. Alienating Dutch by using physical force on him when he explained that he just found out that the ex was mentally disturbed and then pressuring him to put an innocent man behind bars could bite him on the ass bigtime in terms of getting Dutch to side with him and give over what I assume would be the only records that would allow Kavanaugh to bring the Money Train investigation into his investigation. Not to mention the fact that the bitch way that Lem was arrested totally invalidates Kavanaugh's investigation and makes it look like the witch-hunt that Vic has been claiming the investigation is to anyone he's talked about it to about it. And speaking of lost sympathy, given the look in Vic's eye when he was watching Kavanaugh and his wife seemed to scream that Vic was seeing a mirror image of his own relationship with his autistic children, Vic's probably going to be going for Kavanaugh's throat and not stopping until he's ripped a chunk of it out. And speaking of suprises, I'm utterly suprised Antwon didn't offer the fact that he had dirt on Acaveda to Kavanaugh. Hell, I'm suprised that they didn't end the episode with Antwon offering to give him Acaveda instead of the Strike Team on the grounds that Antwon figured bringing down a city councilman/mayoral candidate for shits and giggles would be more amusing to him than being able to kill the Strike Team off one by one in prison. Guest Brian Report post Posted March 1, 2006 Speaking of Vic watching Kavanaugh, did anyone notice Lem's look when they panned over after figured things out. He looked almost mortified, and Kavanaugh went and blew his chance at getting the "conscience" of the team to side with him as well. Judging by the preview, it looks like Vic is going to find out Corrine gave up the money since he's going to be looking for some money to get Lem out. Guest SavageRulz Report post Posted March 1, 2006 Kavanaugh sure went overboard this week! Now that Dutch burned Vic, it might get more interesting.

He looked almost mortified, and Kavanaugh went and blew his chance at getting the "conscience" of the team to side with him as well. Seriously. Lem and Vic were watching two different things on the monitor--Lem, a guy trying to hold it together, and Vic, a guy ready to be torn apart. Really well done. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 Great. The show is excelent, but the last couple of episodes and especially last night's were among the very best. I like that the entire episode stuck with John, I was just thinking the other day that it would be nice to see his inner workings and whatnot. Him calling out Lem in a fit of rage was intense. Forrest might get himself an emmy next season if they submit that episode. Season 5 has been very good from the beginning, where as I thought 4 was a little slow. And it's only getting better. Guest Ray Report post Posted March 2, 2006 What a brilliant episode. I honestly feel it's among the best they've ever done. If Forrest Whitakker doesn't get an Emmy then there is no point in having Emmy awards. "We're out of ink."
JasonX 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 New MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR spoilers. AVOID IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S COMING UP FOR THE CHARACTERS AND THE SHOW! In the last three episodes of the season there will be major events changing the Shield universe: Lem will survive his initial stint in jail before Vic gets him bailed out but by the end of 510, Lem will be leaning towards being willing to take Acaveda's "1 year for minor corruption charges" offer in order to save himself from Kavanaugh's full wrath. Vic will be pissed as fuck at Lem but will be working his hardest to both save Lem and ensure Lem's safety while in jail in the event that Vic fails to clear Lem's name before he finalizes the deal with the DA and Acaveda. He'll make his move against Kavanaugh using his wife and in the event his final gambit fails miserably, Vic will go visit Antwon Mitchell and make a literal deal with the Devil that is Antwon. Word is that Vic will offer to become Antwon's personal slave/bitch in terms of carrying out Antwon's orders from jail in order to get Antwon to not only vow not to kill Lem but also to do whatever it takes to protect Lem from the other inmates in prison. Meanwhile Claudette's return is going to make major waves. Word on the street is that the writers may finally pull the trigger on Claudette FINALLY becoming Captain at the end of the season, when the Chief shows up and demands Claudette take a desk job inside the Barn now that her health problems have become public knowledge. Also, Danny is supposed to give birth by the end of the season and that Julian's sexuality will come into play again when the guy who has been chopping off the dicks of men via glory holes that have mousetraps inside them resurfaces. And finally, one character on the show is going to be going into hiding for as of yet spoiled reasons, possibly never to return.

Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Spoilers ruin the whole show for me, so I can't read them. Kavanaugh did what he had to do. Vic found his weakness, so he had to show who's in charge. Forrest Whitaker has done an amazing capturing the character of John Kavanaugh. He DEVERSE's an Emmy. The return of Antwan Mitchell was gangsta, Anthony Anderson continues to impress me as an actor.
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 One thing I have been wondering is, given how mentally-unstable Kavanaugh is, would a government agency put him in the position of power that he is in? He throws tantrums like a 2-year old yet is this high-ranking government agent. Would something like this be reasonable in the real world? I am loving the work that Forrest Whitaken is doing on the show this season. He makes me hate him and want him dead, but at the same time, respect him because he's only doing his job, although he is on a witch-hunt of sorts.
