Last movie you watched on VHS

Recommended Posts

Fairly soon I'm gonna watch this movie (Band of Outsiders), which I got free on VHS, which got me thinking; I can't remember the last time I watched a movie on VHS. I've recorded some stuff when there was something else on at the same time that I wanted to watch, but that was like TV episodes or something, and now that I've got this DVD recorder with HDD, I doubt I'll have much use for the VCR at all. So: If you've completely switched from VHS to DVD, what was the last movie you watched on VHS?

If wrestling counts, I just bought Unforgiven 2002. I've got almost the entire "rise of Brock Lesnar" in 2002 from King of the Ring to No Mercy, all I need is Summerslam

Dead Man on Campus. I've never seen it on DVD, and me and my girlfriend were looking for a movie to watch a) wasn't a horror movie (so that eliminate 80% of my DVD collection), and b) we haven't already seen a million times (thus eliminating the rest). I browsed through some of the tapes, saw Dead Man on Campus, and popped it in. Neither of us had watched it in years, so we laughed our fucking asses off at it. ESPECIALLY Cliff.

Awesome Cliff quotes:

-"You guys ever get horny? Like, sometimes I just...I just gotta...HUMP THIS LAMP...or SCREW THIS COUCH, YEAH!"

-"Oh, they HATE IT when you do this!" (pulls a pistol out from his glove compartment and fires it at the police cruiser chasing him)

-"OH, GOD! Where do you GET THIS SHIT?!" (with an oxygen mask while being loaded into an ambulance following his fall from his porch)

-"Hey, lesbos, how's it hanging?"

-"Whenever I'm on fire, I remember to STOP, DROP, and ROLL! I don't just stand there screaming like some chick!"

-"...so I guess a blowjob is out of the question?" (after lighting a gil's hair on fire)

Lisztomania, 5 minutes ago, a favorite of mine. Roger Daltrey of the who as composer Franz Liszt, battling a vampire/nazi/zombie Richard Wagner for musical fame and the survival of the German people. I don't think it's on DVD.

I recently rewatched Jerry Maguire on VHS entirely in fast forward. I honestly couldn't remember a damn thing about that movie and watching something in fast-forward is a lot easier on VHS.

I think it was Fellowship of the Ring about 3 years ago. If you count TV shows, I watch tapes all the time. I don't have a DVR and night classes really fuck up your viewing schedule.

It is available on DVD, Netflix has it.

Godzilla 1985. The product placement for Dr. Pepper in that movie cracks me up every time.

Quick Change

Same here. It should be coming out on DVD soon.

Supposedly, it was released last August. I've seen other places where it hasn't been released or is being released sometime this year, too, though.

I haven't seen the MST3K movie recently, but I have it on VHS too because the DVD is overpriced, bare bones, and has no chapter stops. I had gotten the VHS for about 5 bucks from a rental store selling its VHS stock.

As for actually saw--Last Action Hero.

The trailer of Arnie in Hamlet is the absolute peak, but still had lots of great lines.

Benedict: I wonder if you could help me?

Mechanic: Sure, what do ya need?.

Benedict: Well...

[benedict shoots him. He listens for a while, then shouts]

Benedict: I have just shot someone; I did it on purpose.

[listens some more, still nothing]

Benedict: I said, I have just killed a man and I wish to confess!

[listens some more, someone tells him to shut up. He looks pleased]

The mayor: Jack, as mayor of this great metropolis, you and I have had our little tiffs, but this is the Lieutenant Governor.

Lt. Governor: Slater, here's what I...

Jack Slater: [breaks the Lieutenant Governor's nose] When the Governor gets here, call me.

Jack Slater (shoots several bullets at taxi...is puzzled when it doesn't explode): I think the taxis are bulletproof.

That movie is the perfect action flick, which is sorta ironic considering it's a parody of action flicks. Arnold starring in a parody of his own movies. Best one-liner's out of any non-Bruce Willis action yarn, IMO.

Monster Squad.

Once a year.

Every year.

Where's my DVD already?

I'm still waiting for proper DVD releases of Night of the Comet, Blood Diner, and Night of the Creeps
