Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted January 30, 2006 Proof of what? That he doesn't have political power? Because it'd be FUCKING STUPID for a worker to be in a position of power. Look at Jeff Jarrett. I wouldn't mind him if he stayed in the midcard
AlaskanHero 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2006 I wouldn't say naive. Most people here are blinded by WWE hate, nothing more I love WWE (despite their often-times, questionable booking decisions) in addition to all wresting and I can safely say that you're full of shit. Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted January 30, 2006 You can't like both, WWE and TNA. Given Jarrett's attitude to the WWE, along with Shane Douglas, Team 3D, and everyone else with a grudge - it's not possible
Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted January 30, 2006 You can't like both, WWE and TNA. Given Jarrett's attitude to the WWE, along with Shane Douglas, Team 3D, and everyone else with a grudge - it's not possible What do Jarrett and Douglas' feelings have to do with my enjoying a wrestling show? I enjoy wrestling, you know, that thing people do in tights when they try to pin their opponent, and I could care less what anyone thinks of anyone, I'm looking for good wrestling, myself. I even say that yes, I can enjoy HBK matches despite my personal feelings about the man. Let me put it this way: if everyone followed your rule, all those people who booed Michaels and gave him the figer and chanted "You screwed Bret!" at Backlash 2004 have no right to watch WWE. Does this make any sense?

Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 It all becomes clear. Welcome back to the TNA folder, Mr. Dave O'Neill, resident TNA-hater and WWE-defender until his dying day. Oh and don't forget kids, he's a JOURNALIST! BTW, regarding the WWE/TNA debate, everyone is entitled to their opinions and that's all well and good, but at least people like MikeSC (who I realize is persona non grata around here but I do chat with him at other boards) make some valid criticisms and arguments for their beliefs, and are not so jaded as to piss on the worth of a whole company just to back up their opinions. Mike has plenty to say about TNA, but will also be one of the first to praise AJ Styles, or some of the recent DVD releases like Best of the X Division. WWE has, and always will, market themselves as "Family Friendly". TNA has never outright marketed themselves towards young children, so that whole argument about the barbed wire match was nonsense. Also, to say "Big Show and JBL didn't fight in the barbed wire and try to maim each other" means it's a bait and switch, yet another shitty promotional tactic by a company that once thrived on the heir apparent fucking a dummy and Torrie Wilson's dad getting married in his underwear on network TV. There's a lot wrong with the WWE. There's a lot wrong with TNA. I prefer TNA over WWE but am a)not an apologist for them and b)do not think that EVERYTHING about the WWE sucks. However, some of the defense arguments and most, if not all of the finger pointing is WAY off.
Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Amazing that people still go on about Katie Vick, but a barbed wire match gets a free pass round here. Not to mention the Harris Twits wearing an SS T-shirt (and that's just off the top of my head). And this Dave O'Neill stuff is stupid. I read his blog. He introduced me to this site. He doesn't post on boards anymore (although he did have an account on DVDVR for the Sleaze thread).

TheBigSwigg 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 The dude's not Dave O'Neill. I've talked to Dave on other boards, and he's a lot better now than he has been in the past. The dude is a prick, though. And has pretty baseless arguments.
Si82 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Amazing that people still go on about Katie Vick, but a barbed wire match gets a free pass round here. I would rather watch a barbed wire match, with an actual storyline build up, than a man wearing a Kane mask pretending to fuck a corpse until it's brains come out of it's head. And as for people giving HBK grief over Montreal. Perhaps if WWE stopped mentioning it then people would forget about it and stop giving him grief.

Mike has plenty to say about TNA, but will also be one of the first to praise AJ Styles, or some of the recent DVD releases like Best of the X Division. Exactly what I was going to mention. At least Mike, Leena and others who're generally pretty critical of TNA try to be impartial and point out stuff that they do like if and when they see it. Nobody would have a problem with your opinion if you were impartial and offered up some intelligent conversation. The Sabu/Abyss barbed wire match was pretty tame by wrestling standards. I've seen a lot worse, believe me. Infact, it's been topped by the WWE before. No worse than Foley/Orton. No worse than Foley/HHH...infact, there's probably three from them that were, argueably, worse. And that's just for starters. If that Sabu/Abyss match really disturbed you, maybe you are just a desperate housewife my friend. Hell, at least they delivered what they advertised. Saying you can't like both TNA and WWE was pretty fucking dumb. The HHH thing took it right over the edge in a burning blaze of idiocy.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Amazing that people still go on about Katie Vick, but a barbed wire match gets a free pass round here. How in the hell are you going to say that someone fucking something that is suppose to be a dead corpse is better than a barb wire match? If your thinking TNA is fucked up for having a barb wire match then you better start saying that WCW, ECW, XPW, WWE, etc....etc....etc is also fucked up for having barb wire matches and barb wire included in their shows as well. Newsflash genius Sabu is known for wrestling in a barbwire matches and using barb wire, he's fucking Sabu! That match was a great pay off to end the feud between Abyss and Sabu. It makes booking sense to use that type of match when it comes to Sabu. Barb Wire is known to be used as a weapon in wrestilng nowadays, so get over it. Fucking a dead corpse SHOULD NEVER be used in wrestling EVER!
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Regarding the Harris Twin shirt deal, that was a)over 3 years ago, and b)not something done as part of the show or given to him to do from TNA, and whichever one had the shirt on was reprimanded for it. Guest Timmer Report post Posted February 5, 2006 Tna Roster News; * Shannon Moore has tons of heat for being pushed before "homegrown" talent If TNA is ever going to be successful, they are going to need to address this issue and get past it. I'm tired of hearing this line all the time. TNA needs to bring different talent in to keep things fresh. I'm tired of seeing the same vanilla lightweights that have no personality being rotated on TV.
Guest Timmer Report post Posted February 5, 2006 If they hire Chrity Hemme they should give her Shane Douglas' job and make him into a manager. Or put Douglas as the heel-man on Commentary. I will agree that they need someone more "colorful" than what they got right now...
razazteca 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2006 Terry Taylor should be the backstage interview guy and Shane Douglas can go back to being a heel on Commentary! iMPACT could use a 3 man commentary team of Tenay (The Prof.) , West (The Shrill), Douglas (The Heel). ALMOST. but alas, once again, your completely full of shit. one friggin' barbed-wire match in a company's 3-4 year history does not a "garbage promotion" make. but i'm sure all this is just my blind WWE-hate talking.
