Guest Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Yeah, I was watching the Ottawa game, but took a little half hour nap. Now I'm waiting for a radio broadcast, fucking sucks that this is the 21st century and I have to plug my headphones into the computer to have access to a game. The Sens are in deep, deep trouble. Did they start believing their hype or what?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 2 shorties on the same penalty kill for Ottawa make it 2-2. But yes, Ottawa is really out of sync. Spezza hasn't looked good at all this week.
Guest Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Heatley, Chara, Neil, Vermette and McGrattan have probably been their best players this week. McGrattan did great last night in the time he was out there, but he took that stupid penalty. Elias was really looking for trouble last night, he got pretty lucky. I agree about Spezza, he's looked like an AHL player this week. He could be a little banged up, Bryan Murray's the type that wouldn't let it be known. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Habs need to revamp everything. Fuck getting shitty French Defencemen. That means Boullion, Rivet, Souray. Slackers all of them. This is just down right putrid.
Guest Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Souray should come to LA, so he can be closer to his kid. I'd welcome him and Rivet.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Well, after the small scare of the first period, Ottawa's scored six straight. Apparently the Penguins can't look like an NHL team for more than one period.
Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 I'm going to guess that the Mike guy that hates Crosby has some theory along the lines of Crosby not playing because he knew the Pens would lose to Ottawa and he's a whiner and such. Just a hunch.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Baron, Habs have won four straight games on Superbowl Sunday....They also beat Philly a few weeks ago. Failing that, I'm gettin a voodoo doll. I've seen the Jays win 60 games in a season. the Raiders win 4 games and Mike Weir go two years without winning. I've NEVER been this disenfranchised though. I'm genuinely horrified with what the future holds. But what do they do? Every writer in North America has said how much progress there's been with the Habs corps thus far, so what do you do? Cross your fingers and hope they can have a hot March? Doesn't that fuck up a lot of salary cap room if they don't trade away some big names? What happens if they don't move anyone and DO get hot in March and make they playoffs? This is far to green a team, even in the East this year.... And let's say the decision is made to move some players, regardless of whether or not they're around for the dance. Who? For whom?
Guest Report post Posted February 3, 2006 I'll tell you that they should trade players, because an 8 spot out East is going to be an early exit. Souray's an obvious candidate, and they should really try to package Komisarek with Theodore. That's the only way they do get rid of Theo, is to package him with a guy that has a lower contract. Getting rid of Zednik would be nice. They have to try to salvage something out of a bad season. Unfortunately, that means they need to get a better pick than they would finishing 9th and just out of it or 8th and getting swept. AND ANOTHER LOSS. From the sound of it, CuJo was an absolute monster tonight and had the crowd chanting his name, so not much can be done.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Keep Komisarek, Streit and Markov as defence, and its ashame they got rid of Ron Hainsey. If they are going to get rid of Theodore send him to either Columbus or in a way, Vancouver are probably the best options for the Habs. There is no toughness on the Habs this year which you can tell that was missing in 03-04, and one horrible checking line (Andreas Dackell better than Radek Bonk). Plus losing two of the best face-off players in one season also hurt the Habs this year (Jim Dowd and Yanic Perrault). Even Breisbois QB like style on the PP is missing. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Apparently a bunch of GMs saw the new skin-tight sweaters Bettman and Reebok are making everyone wear, and said it was the worst thing they had ever seen. Oh boy.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Apparently a bunch of GMs saw the new skin-tight sweaters Bettman and Reebok are making everyone wear, and said it was the worst thing they had ever seen. Oh boy. Not only that but the Detroit Red Wings are adding fucking BLACK to their uniforms next year. Can we seriously please have a moratorium on sports uniforms having black added to them? It's getting so fucking repetitive and now it's even going to be invading classic designs like Detroit's. Even worse was Illitch's explanation: "The history of this franchise is very important to us, as are the fan’s desires." said owner Mike Ilitch. "We feel the fan want to see a more modern look. With Detroit’s Lions adding black with such great success recently, I thought it was only natural to bring the same look to the Red Wings." Of all the franchises in sports to copy, you choose the fucking Lions? Matt Millen should be grovelling at Ken Holland's feet asking for advice on how to manage a sports team. The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 How can you even use "Detroit Lions" and "great success" in the same sentence, really. So I guess all the sweaters will look like those batting practice jerseys with mesh in the armpits. I also saw that the Bruins are getting rid of the spoked B and going with Pooh full-time

treble 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 I can't believe they're still wearing it as a 3rd jersey after all these years. I've never heard one person say they like it, so I can't imagine that they sell too many of them (especially compared to their regular ones).

I've never heard one person say they like it, so I can't imagine that they sell too many of them (especially compared to their regular ones). In the roller hockey league I play in, I think most or all the players wear the bear jerseys. All the teams need to sell new jerseys in order make up for the lost revenue during the lockout. Guest Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Hate idea of new uniforms, hate idea of Detroit having black on their unis, and I fucking hate the idea of using those ugly yellow B's jerseys. I can't even watch when they're wearing them. Reebok also plans to change logos and get rid of horizontal stripes. I think that's the end of the red Montreal jersey we're all used to. I've never heard one person say they like it, so I can't imagine that they sell too many of them (especially compared to their regular ones). In the roller hockey league I play in, I think most or all the players wear the bear jerseys. All the teams need to sell new jerseys in order make up for the lost revenue during the lockout. The only teams that need overhauls are the Mighty Ducks, Sabres, and Capitals, I think. Nobody's clamoring for the Red Wings to wear black, in fact, I can see the fans just shitting on that. I don't like the idea of these "form-fitting jerseys" or whatever they're being called. I don't need Tie Domi's form to be fitted. This has all the makings of Cooperall pants: some people who don't know shit come up with a new uniform to make skaters faster, and then they all just fly into the boards like the Chinese kid in Mighty Ducks 2. (Or was it the cowboy kid?) I guess Reebok's contract allows them to have discretion over all 30 uniforms, and they'll probably cut major corners to the point where there are like five templates that every team just fills colors into and slaps a crest on. If they start redesigning everyone's identities, especially Original Six teams, it's just gonna be shat all over. Granted, those 1930s Habs throwbacks or whatever with the blue stripe on white, I like those a lot, they could wear those. But if they put the Maple Leafs in black skintight sweaters with blue armpits, and a modernized leaf to "look more aggressive and modern for today's urban culture," that's when we all just get lawn chairs, snacks, and watch things go down. Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2006 Does anyone know any good hockey forums that talk a lot about the juniors, especially OHL? hfboards.com is probably the best bet, but they do have server issues sometimes. It's a HUGE online community and Dogbert recommended me to it. I love that place. HF is good but you have to watch out for some of the posters there. I see about 20309320409324 trade proposal threads that make absolutely no sense. On the issue of the new jerseys, Bob McKenzie had this to say in his latest column. The most striking difference between the old uniform and the new prototype is the form-fitting sweater is tucked into a new-look hockey pant that has extended kidney pads and rides much higher on the torso. We can't show you a picture of what this looks like because the league is keeping the look under wraps for now, although the Las Vegas team in the ECHL will be modeling them for the GMs during an on-ice session next week. The tuck, apparently, is what drives some GMs crazy. For a team like Chicago or Carolina, which have unique markings or striping along the bottom of the sweater that is an intrinsic part of the their look, the tuck issue is huge. Because the fabric is tight, tucked and made of a new space-age material, there is some concern whether the traditon and integrity of the Montreal Canadien bleu, blanc et rouge, for example, will be upheld. lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 I am sorry, but as a Detroit fan, I have absolutely no clue why they would add black to what I consider top three in the NHL as far as uniforms. The fans like the black unis with the red and white wheel wing design but they like them as like a custom deal, not as something the team wears every night. It's a fucking horrible idea and tampering with any of the Original Six uniforms is just wrong. This is another reason why Gary Bettman should be taken out back and shot This is hockey, not basketball. The NHL and to a lesser extent college hockey, is why I can walk around Ann Arbor, Michigan with a Minnesota Twins hat and convince girls I was a redshirt defenseman in 2003 for the Golden Gopher hockey team and then be getting head from them as I type this. But whatever, Any sort of tampering with classic uniforms is just wrong. Reebok doesn't know hockey and neither does Bettman. The game as is, I think sells itself and has crossover appeal. I mean soccer has never got 9 black men from metro Detroit to watch a game, but hockey has. I just think the game is fine the way it is, and most of the time it is more enjoyable to watch than some shitty NBA game

Justice 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 First off, I fucking HATE the Lions black uniforms. The classic Baby Blue and Silver is so, so much better. 2ndly, didn't the Red Wings' Away uniforms get like in the top 4 of ESPN's Top Uniform contest or something? I don't pay attention to too many of those, but damned if it wasn't well deserved. I love the white jerseys (I wish they were still the home ones, as well), but BLACK for the RED WINGS? Gah.
