This week in the NBA

Recommended Posts

Slim, some guys just get it going specifically for Sac and Kwame is one of them. It goes the other way as well where a guy who normally goes off on normal teams has little success against Sac (or whoever for that matter)...
Like who?

I'll bet that more active players got their career highs in at least one stat against Sacramento than any other team. We lead the league in making scrubs look like All-NBA players; does the name Tony F. Delk mean anything to you?

Jermaine O'Neal returned for the Pacers last night. He had a bad shooting night, but we got the win over the Bulls. Just waiting on Austin Croshere now and our full roster will be active for the first time in two years.

They said on ESPN last night that there was an 80% chance of Amare playing tonight.

I'd like to see that game, see how they get him into the flow.

Quote of the Day

"I don't know the exact prognosis, but it's not very good. There's a reason we didn't trade Michael Doleac, and that's because of this exact possibility. He's going to have to step up."

-- Heat coach Pat Riley, concerned that Alonzo Mourning might have torn a calf muscle in the loss to Detroit.

Just read that on espn.com daily dime...

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy *eye roll*

I can't stand Alonzo after that shit he pulled to get out of his contract. What an a-hole. I hate when announcers gush about him and his recovering from a kidney and stuff, not even mentioning what a douchebag he was about actually playing for the team who SIGNED him WITH A BAD KIDNEY.

Pisses me off.

Despite his "warrior's mentality, Zo has never been the nicest of guys, on or off the court.

And in our obligatory Brokeback Mountain reference, anyone else hear Bill Walton making comments about Wade's body, as if he wants to do him?

And to think all of this time, Bill only had eyes for Jason Kidd.

The good. Amare returns tonight and gets 13 points, 6 boards and 2 blocks in 14 minutes.

The bad. Boris Diaw has 2 points, 5 assist and 6 rebounds deep in the fourth.

Hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

That J-Rich rebound, full court sprint, 360 spin into a leaning 3 for the 'W' at Dallas was perhaps the nicest play I've seen in the NBA this year.

I dont know if I ever actually posted it, but for a while I've had this thought. A lot of people seem to think that Amare's talents are going to pile on top of the very good current Phoenix team, but every time Amare is making plays thats one less play being made by his "replacements" this season. still this makes phoenix better nobody get me wrong, but again there's only so many touches to go around, so who knows if it makes them THAT much better? I mean maybe they go from a 50 win to a 55 win team?

Seconded. I watched this live and I jumped out of my chair when it happened. Makes getting the League Pass worth it.

Between that shot and the finish of UCLA/Gonzaga, it was a great night to be a basketball fan.

Amare finished with 20 and 9 in his first game back with only 19 minutes. It helps that he was playing Portland.

Looking at the whole picture, everyone else had a GREAT game so I guess it was just a balanced scoring attack that kept Diaw from shooting. They had 76 points in the first half, so the Offense didn't miss a beat. Starting Amare, Boris, Marion, Bell and Nash with Tim Thomas, James Jones, Eddie House and Leandro Barbosa as the backups makes for a pretty deep team.

I did notice the 76 at halftime, but more disturbing was the 63 points they allowed on the other end. Still, the Suns locked up in the second half and the Blazers only ended with 108.

Everyone keeps asking how Amare is going to gel with the team offensively, but defensively is where I would keep an eye on since the Suns had improved in that area this year and you wonder if Amare will get back into things on the defensive end.

Jamal Mashburn has officially retired after being waived by the Sixers earlier this week.

Shame, the guy was really starting to become one of the elite players in the league when he began having his knee problems, which forced him to the sidelines for the last two full seasons. The year he finally made an All-Star team, he was perhaps as good as any SF in the league on his best night.

Good win for the Clips today against the Wizards 116-101 to get to 40 wins

Looks like we are going to see what the Clippers are really made of the last few weeks because 9 out of their last 14 games are against the other 7 playoff teams in the West.

Are the Clippers last season's Sonics (winning on chemistry and not on talent)? I'm not sure of how many wins the Clippers have but I think it is way less than what the Sonics had last year. I'm also not sure how many people care about a team that is overachieving and whose top player is Elton Brand.

They have some talent, but they are overachieving for the amount of talent they have. Get it? :bonk:

The only one that doesn't "get it" is you. I'm going to leave before I get in trouble like I have before.

You don't get that the Clippers aren't "overacheiving," and that their being the fourth-best team in the western conference is not an accident; if anything, they're finally living up to their potential.

The Clippers have mediocare talent and much less talent now than years ago. Their "chemistry" is much better and thus they are overachieving because of their mediocare talent.

He already wasted his time by presenting that horrendous "argument".

OMG! Has fanofcoils hijacked another thread?

Ban please.

Granted, I've been flaming/flamebaiting him a little, but at least I contribute to the forums positively most of the time. Everything fanofcoils posts is trite, trivial, and argumentative.

Maybe we could do something like the "suspended from the WWE folder" thing, except he'd be suspended to the WWE folder, so that he'd have to leave the rest of the forums alone.

I don't know how much you "contribute" but I have contributed to this thread, and at least in this post you just made, you haven't contributed but say nonsense.

None of that stuff about my posts you said is true, my posts have been overall very solid and when something is unclear in one of my posts then I make it clear. When I first started posting I might have had "circular arguments" but not anymore.

You're insane. Not only do the Clippers not have "much less" talent than years ago, they probably have better talent. As far as your ridiculous assertion that they have "mediocare" talent, Elton Brand is not mediocre talent. Neither is Sam Cassell, nor Corey Maggette, nor Cuttino Mobley, nor Chris Kaman.

Jeff McInnis, Darius Miles and Michael Olowokandi are mediocre players. Marko Jaric is a mediocre player. Eric Piatkowski is a mediocre player. The team that the Clippers have now is the best team that they've ever had... and you're looking the obvious reason why they're not "overachieving" to be the fourth-best team in the west this year: because they should be the fourth-best team in the west this year. There aren't five teams in the west that are better than them, on paper or otherwise; they're better than the Nuggets, better than the Grizzlies, and *way* better than any other team below them. If they weren't the fifth seed, they'd be under-achieving.
