Guest stringerbell Report post Posted April 3, 2006 The plan for the first Thursday night Impact on 4/13 is Joe vs Daniels for the X Title & either Shelley & Eric Young vs. Sting in a handicap match or Jeff Jarrett vs. Sting plus the announcement of Sting's team for Lethal Lockdown. The plan is to only have two matches on the show to allow both Joe and Daniels to have a enough time to showcase themselves and push the fact it's Sting's first match on national TV in over 5 years. Those look to be the main two points to push hard for. TNA has until next Monday to sign Goldberg, if they can pull it off. If they can, he'd most likely be apart of Team Sting at Lockdown. The current plans for 04/23 Lockdown PPV: -8 man Lethal Lockdown in a cage with a ceiling and weapons pairs Team Jarrett (JJ, Steiner & AMW) vs Team Sting -Joe vs Sabu -Daniels vs Liger for the X Title -A flag vs anthem match pairing Team 3D (with a debuting Matt Hyson, aka Spike Dudley) vs Team Canada (Roode, Eric Young & A-1) -Konnan vs Bullet Bob in an arm wrestling match -World Cup Preview match pairing Team USA (Lethal, Dutt & winner of Strong/Shelley/Stevens) vs. Black Tiger, Puma and somebody from New Japan, likely either Gedo or Heat. -Raven vs. Larry Zbyszko (not final yet)....plus 1 more match. The original plans was to do an X Division escape match with Daniels vs Sabin, Liger & Petey Williams. So there may be another of these matches, non altogether or maybe even a swerve setting this one up still. Recent PPV numbers from a few months back have been updated and they have done significantly better than the first buyrate estimates, with the bigger shows up as much as 25%. This is great news for a promotion that bases it's most important revenue stream on PPV buys. The first ever Joe vs. Christian match will take place on 5/27 in Doncaster, England for 1PW Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if TNA books the finish because in all liklihood Joe will still be undefeated at that point with Christian still being the Champ as well. TNA cannot just discount the fact it's not in the USA, not on TV and "won't count", because in this day and age, with technology, match reporting, etc., in perception, it will. Monty Brown could have returned for this PPV but he had no angle set so look for his return right after Lockdown. Also that weeked for 1PW will be a tag team tournament which will pair the ECW Impact Players return of (Lance Storm & PJ "Justin Credible" Polanco) vs. a tage team of AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels. World X Cup News: Nothing is final regarding CMLL and the hoped for team is still Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Mistico and Ultimo Dragon. Dragon is working with TNA to get this team, but if it falls through TNA has back up plans in place. Team England is out because TNA decided to go with four teams, Japan, Mexico, Canada and USA. Team Canada coached by Scott D'Amore will most likley be Petey Williams, Eric Young, Tyson Dux and the returning Johnny Devine. The X Cup matches will start at the 4/24 tapings and finish up at the Sacrifice PPV on 5/14. The matches scored with points will be on Impact's and competition decided matches on PPVs. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 Team England being out of the World X Cup fucking sucks and I've had it with Team Canada.
theintensifier 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 Daniels and Liger will tear it up.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 I expect an excellent match between Daniels and Lyger, if given the time to develop. And I agree DA, Team Canada is just played now.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 Team Canada seems to be just a bunch of random guys. They're the equivalent of the Spirit Squad on RAW but less gay.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 I've missed Johnny Devine, so I'm glad he's returning. Team UK out sucks because I wanted to see what the hype was about. Great news about the ppv buyrate being up.

Si82 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Team England is out because TNA decided to go with four teams, Japan, Mexico, Canada and USA. This really pisses me off. They had a really good team lined up this time. I would have loved to have seen these guys in TNA. Fucking TNA management.
TheInsane 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 In a way I understand TNA in this. If they had to take away one team they'd have to take away the one with the least amount of star-power and I believe Team TNA (USA + Dutt), Canada, Mexico and Japan is ahead of England when it comes to that. However with that being said I was mostly looking forward to seeing team England. I absolutely love Nigel McGuiness for instance and Doug Williams is great as well. Its a shame they wont bring those two in.
AlaskanHero 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Would the members of Team UK even be able to work the fast paced X-Division style? Last time they did the World X Cup, I seem to remember that the UK team usually looked out of place since they worked in the slow, methodical British/"William Regal" style. Si82 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Would the members of Team UK even be able to work the fast paced X-Division style? Last time they did the World X Cup, I seem to remember that the UK team usually looked out of place since they worked in the slow, methodical British/"William Regal" style. Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm would certainly have been able to work the X-Division style. The last Team UK sucked and this would have been a much better showcase for UK workers. It's a fucking shame TNA robbed them of the chance.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 I actually wanted to see if the X Division guys could work the European counter style and not have to rely so much on spot-spot-flying spot style. Even if it wasnt' main eventing, I just wanted to see something a little different in terms of style. If the CMLL team comes, you will see a different high flying style and pacing versus the usual X Division fare. No one from Team Canada is bringing something to the table that I haven't seen already in spades. That's why I'm mad about Team UK being on the outs.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Do we even know if it was solely a TNA decision, and not something beyond their control that forced a change of plans?
Scroby 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Well if Team Mexicao falls out then TNA should being in Team England.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Do we even know if it was solely a TNA decision, and not something beyond their control that forced a change of plans? The way the news/rumor blurb is put (it's the same in the newsletter as the original post) it sounds like they dumped Team UK because Team Canada needs to be there because God forbid Scott D'Amore & Team Canada not be on a PPV. If the Team UK thing fell through, I figured they'd just say Team UK fell through and replaced with Team Canada.
benoit4hor 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 TNA has until next Monday to sign Goldberg, if they can pull it off What happens after next Monday that they can't sign Goldberg?
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 TNA has until next Monday to sign Goldberg, if they can pull it off What happens after next Monday that they can't sign Goldberg? Then Sting's partners for the Lockdown ME will be Killings, Rhino, and Styles.
benoit4hor 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 I guess it was just how it was wrote. I thought they were saying that after Monday they wouldn't be able sign Goldberg.
The Thread Killer 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Doug Williams and Nigel McGuiness have tour commitments in Japan with NOAH. They wouldn't have been able to commit to the whole tournament in TNA due to that...or so I read at DVDVR.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 I cant believe TNA have cut out team engalnd. Being from the UK i was really looking forward to seeing Storm and Fliesh in the 6 sided ring. But if Williams and McGuiness cant do it then there isnt much point. But there is a huge line of British talent they could use, Mark "Five Star Flash" Belton for example, or Darren Burrige. Just not sure wether Darrens gimmick would work though... plus he may not fit into the X divison style. Still, i am GUTTED.
