devo 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 From Baseball Tonight a few minutes ago... Panelist second from right - "You see, the thing with C.C. Sabathia is, he'll give up runs, but he'll keep his team in the game!" Steve Levy - "How does he do that at the same time?"
treble 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2007 Not ESPN, but I liked Kevin Kennedy on the Fox pre-game show saying that players today don't steal bases to win games, like Willy Mays did, but to pad their stats. I guess Jose Reyes just goes back to 1st everytime he swipes 2nd.
Guest Smues Report post Posted July 15, 2007 The Sunday Night Baseball game started 3 hours early today because of the Espbys. Fuck off ESPN. Sure it's fine to bump any Sunday game to the evening slot, regardless of logistics or pissing off fans who already bought tickets at the old time, to get their super uber special game. But oh no we're running an awards show have to bump the game! It (for some reason) makes me think of how PTI has the final segment in the middle of Sportscenter to piss off the viewers get ratings, but on Monday during football season they don't do that because it would cut into time they use to talk about the ALLMIGHT MONDAY NIGHT GAME. razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 Other than marrying Eva Longoria, Tony Parker seems kind of dull. Just like everybody else in his peer group currently in the NBA, Tony Parker makes rap videos in the off season!

Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 The only good thing the Espy's have ever done is the Jimmy V speech. I can't think of another moment that has happened in the history of the ESPY's.
Mik 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 When Samuel L. Jackson was the host there were a ton of great skits, including him playing baseball w/ his light saber as Mace Windu.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2007 My sister who works in advertising, had to go to the Espies. She said that Mike and Mike is now the networks number one program. I'm afraid Kirk Herbstreit is a lost cause.

TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 It all comes back to the fact that they would rather be the story than give you the story. I can't imagine how stupid that "Who's Now" garbage is, and I think Bronx Is Burning looks like more sensationalized shit. I haven't even been inclined to check it out by morbid curiosity. Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 I enjoyed the first episode of Bronx is Burning, but mostly because I love Turturro. But I've never gotten around to reading the book so I might not be the best judge of its content.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 Did anybody see the Rock, Paper, Scissors championship last week the hosts were some retired pro by the name of Master Roshambougha and Howard Lederer of Poker fame!
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 The only ESPN original thingy I really ever liked was Playmakers. And that wasn't all that great.
Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2007 When Samuel L. Jackson was the host there were a ton of great skits, including him playing baseball w/ his light saber as Mace Windu. That was some funny shit. I also remember him being a hockey coach and teaching a goalie how to play dirty by jabbing opponents below the belt with his stick. randomguy 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 Playmakers wasn't bad. I just forced myself to sit through a couple minutes of WHO'S NOW!. What the fuck is this tripe, a giant popularity contest? Isn't that what the ESPYs are already?
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 "Who's Now!" has no value what so ever, from what I've seen of it.
Boon 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 I know it's been said already, but Bill Simmons is a jackass. His "feud" with Jerry Remy is the latest in a long line of reasons he, and ESPN, both completely suck.
Broward83 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 The only ESPN original thingy I really ever liked was Playmakers. And that wasn't all that great. I can't remember the name, but the poker one they had was decent, IMO.
Mik 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 Bill Simmons doesn't even remotely suck. I'm tired of this shit. Hurry up and name me five better sportswriters on the internet. I can only name one, Will Leitch, and he's not so much a sportswriter so much as a blogger.
tominator89 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 I thought Playmakers was good. It had enough potential for a second season. The poker show was Tilt.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2007 I know it's been said already, but Bill Simmons is a jackass. His "feud" with Jerry Remy is the latest in a long line of reasons he, and ESPN, both completely suck. I don't think it's much of a feud. Everything I've heard from both sides about it seems to have been said with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
Boon 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2007 Bill Simmons doesn't even remotely suck. I'm tired of this shit. Hurry up and name me five better sportswriters on the internet. I can only name one, Will Leitch, and he's not so much a sportswriter so much as a blogger. McAdam, Verducci, Kurkjian, Olney and Gammons- and those are just baseball guys. Simmons' game is really lame- bash the Celtics, talk about his dad, gossip over celebrities, repeat. I wouldn't even call what he does sports writing. randomguy 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2007 Bill Simmons is not a sportswriter, he's a comedy writer who does sports. He doesn't really know that much about sports, nor does he ever break any news or anything like that. I like his columns and his podcast but he's an entertainer.
