kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 There's not enough blacks anymore! It's becoming too white and hispanic! Don't forget the Japs. And who is this Jackie Something-or-other?' I saw this segment on ESPN Sunday where they went to some black college talking about this issue. Talk about funny.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I think the big reason is that football and basketball offer more college scholarships. Black athletes aren't widely discriminated against and baseball has no shortage of talent, so it's not a big problem.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2007 That said, John Helyar's column on espn.com is very good. Helyar gives the topic fair treatment and doesn't embrace the same tired talking points.
Mik 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 They automatically changed my Hanley picture to this years version! He doesn't look 12 in this one. Damn it. Reasons it doesn't: The new ombudsman actually has some balls and is already saying some critical things about the network on their webpage - unlike the previous one. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 In the past two months, I have heard a lot of yelling, from some but not all of the anchors, from some but not all of the commentators who rotate through "Around the Horn," from Skip Bayless on "Cold Pizza," and from some but not all of the guests who sit across from Skip and allow themselves to get bent out of shape by his absolutism. The yelling anchors sound manic. The yelling commentators sound angry. None of the yellers sounds to me as if he is reacting authentically to something he cares about. Amen, sister. Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 14, 2007 I was gonna mention that Hanley looks he's aged from 12 to 16. And not to bring up Stump the Blob again, but watching some of the shows today, it's such a shame that ESPN had to fuck up that show by making the Blob so fucking annoying. And Stuart Scott being Stuart Scott. I love my sports trivia shows, and there needs to be a decent one!

Guest Eagle Man Report post Posted April 14, 2007 Yeah, how do you make a comic book guy-lookin' jackass in a Mike Bossy sweater look like a hip cat? I think that was the Schwab. Show would've been better without Stuart Scott, but it came out in 2004, when Stuart Scott hosted EVERYTHING. Stump the Schwab, Dream Job, that list show, some other thing, etc.

And I'm pretty sure he hosted at least one other show, not to mention sports center. He's cooler than the otherside of the pillow!

I think the directors of the show wanted him to always overreact. Nobody can really act that way. I hope. Even more so since he lost so much that beating him was nothing incredible. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Besides the poor decision to have athletes read the questions, I always liked the Kenny Mayne trivia show. I don't remember the male American Gladiators looking so small.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I liked 2 Minute Drill. But, the format was weak. Especially the ending question which was usually way too hard for any common fan to know.

-DeN- 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 They changed Classic (right when they got Gladiators) from Channel 48 (49 & 50 being ESPN/2 repectively, 51 airing Red Sox/Bruins and 52 airing the Celtics) to some weird 400 shit. But there's nothing on 48 to replace it. Just vanished. My clicking is all out of whack and for what. Well I'm all pissed off. I liked that Tennis Ball Shit and when they'd swing and zonk each other, but now it's like way out on different buttons. I don't really ask for much. Just put the retarded shit I like WHERE IT ALWAYS FUCKING WAS! *Lewis Black Stroke*
fazzle 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Yeah, that's your cable company's fault, not ESPN's. Moving it all the way up to the 400s makes it sound like they plan on charging for it though. What else is around that channel?
-DeN- 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 There didn't appear to be a "Cable Company Sucking" thread ready and available to host my screed Mr. Fazzle. I just try to work within what's here. But you're spot on (It was I that was off by a hundred channels); it's now in the mix with all the niche sports-subscription nonsense that I'd never watch. Fox Sports College? There's apparently more than one. Fucking car channel too. Orz. In ESPN news: I like the black chick who does Sportscenter now. Something ethereal and soothing going on there. Mmm. Guest Smues Report post Posted April 17, 2007 At the end of the 2nd segment of PTI as they're going to commercial today before the giant SC logo appeared for the SC commercial a frame of Around the Horn popped up (probably the last one from today's show.) Good job there ESPN. They have the MNF editing crew running daytime programming now?
