RavishingRickRudo Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I'll try to make this a regular feature on this board. Top Ten Most Entertaining Fighters: 1. Fedor 2. Shogun 3. Pulver 4. Hansen 5. Gomi 6. Sakuraba 7. Sudo 8. Jackson 9. Rodrigo Nogueira 10. Belfort A purely subjective list, these are the top 10 fighters I've enjoyed watching. Fedor is number 1, probably because I gay for him, which means I've enjoyed every fight of his that I have seen and they never get boring. Shogun is nuts and fights without concern or restraint. Pulver is so fucking great right now, even though he loses half the time, seemingly. Hansen is just badass. Gomi had a string of great fights up to his loss recently, I love the way he works body shots with his wild punches. Sakuraba falls a bit on the list just due to the past few years, but at his peak, he defined this list. Genki Sudo gets in because of his entrances, and his giant swing into a leg lock, and his whackiness. Quinton Jackson used to be good and entertaining, ya know? The slams against Satake, Sakuraba, Arona, Vovchancyn. Once upon a time this guy would take wreckless risks and it would pay off for him. Nogs fights against Herring, Sapp, Hendo, Fedor, Cro Cop... are some of the best I've ever seen. Shit, I should have him higher up the list.. But in regards to excitement, its more Nog taking a beating and coming back from it, that makes those matches great, rather than Nog being an exciting fighter. Belfort squeaks in because there was a short period of time when he was insanely exciting and that peak was so high that it puts him on this list.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 Ack! How could I forget about Georges St. Pierre? Fuck it, this is TSM Top Twelve. 11. Georges St. Pierre 12. Carlos Newton GSP has slick submissions, vicious ground and pound, knock out power in stand up as well as a diverse moveset - what more can you ask for? Newton has had great matches against Sakuraba, Henderson, Pele, and Hughes. Sure, he lost 4 of those 5 fights, but damn were they exciting.
I like Forums Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Personally, I find Fedor fights incredibly boring. Minotauro might be my favorite HW to watch. His fights with Heath Herring, CroCop, Enson Inoue, Gary Goodridge, all were exciting fights to me. Hansen seems to usually have some great finishes to his matches, with the rest of the fight being underwhelming. Hughes has put on some decent fights.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 I find your POSTS incredibly boring. POWNED~!
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Sudo has had a lot of boring fights, I think people give him too much credit for being weird. Fedor, Liddell, Franklin, GSP, Doerksen, Big Nog, Shogun, Tanner, Matt Hughes, Hansen, BJ Penn and that's it that comes to mind right now.
Lei Tong Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 If we're talking about the highest ratio of entertaining matches: Franklin, Mamoru, Olaf, Minotauro, H. Sakurai, T. Muarahama, Doerksen, and more when I think of them.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 David Loiseau should get more mentions, I think his matches are awesome. I like Shonie Carter matches for the most part, Franklin always has great fights, I love watching BJ Penn fight also.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 If I had to spit out a list right now.........? 1. Fedor 2. GSP 3. Gomi 4. Shogun 5. Hansen 6. Franklin 7. Pulver 8. Wanderlei Silva 9. Sakuraba 10. Hughes
Adam Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Having only really seen UFC and Fedor/Mirko beating the tar out of people on HLs, here's my list: 1. Georges St. Pierre 2. Chuck Liddell (something is always going to happen in an Iceman fight) 3. Rich Franklin 4. Fedor 5. Cro Cop (I'm a mark for kicking peoples heads off) 6. Matt Hughes 7. BJ Penn 8. Karo (I'm a mark for Judo throws too) 9. Forrest Griffin (same as Liddell, something is always going to happen) 10. David Loiseau (just watched his fight at UFC53, so thats fresh in my mind, I love his elbows, even though he ran like a bitch against Rich)
Lei Tong Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 While a number of guys mentioned have put on alot of entertaining fights lately, I should mention again that I'm considering whole careers. To elaborate: - Jens gets left out on account of some incredibly average mid-career fights. - Anyone who thought Fedor would be one of the world's most entertaining fighters prior to the Heath fight is a liar. - Wanna' know why no one gave a shit about Gomi and even the UFC didn't want him prior to the Mishima bout? Watch his first 10 fights or so. - Hansen seems to get his incredible stamina and relentlessness in exchange for sleeping on every 4th opponent or so. - I hate on Shogun's flying epilepsy kicks. Yeah, I admit it.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 Youze are a bastard, Lei Tong. How dare youze hate on FEDOR like that.
Lei Tong Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Elvis Sinosic once called me a "bastid." True story, and more entertaining than Fedor/Arona.
Adam Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Aussies don't talk like that. Next radio show, we'll debate this.
Lei Tong Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I'm Mexican. They're called "sweet hook-ups."
Adam Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I apologise. Get one of your 'sweet hook-ups' on the next show.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 I call shenanigans. 1. Aussies don't know how to use computers because Aussies don't have computers. They access the internet through a matrix of koala bears, men at work LPs, and empty giant foster beer cans. 2. Mexicans don't call them "sweet hook-ups", they call them "illegal border smuggling out to steal hard working American jobs coyotes". I swear to my white christian god, that's what Lou Dobbs told me. 3. The white christian god I refer to is Fedor.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Can someone link me to some Fedor fights? I havent seen him fight yet.
AmericanDragon Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I know you didn't want a highlight but this Fedor highlight is just great. It's short and to the point. http://beta.yousendit.com/transfer.php?act...BE07AE70A1ABE79 Here's a highlight of his fight against Crocop. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9...6556125404864&q And a highlight of his fights against Nogueira http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3NWW37Q...JE0A7T63HTLZJAA I'll upload his full fights against Herring and Nogueira 1 later.
AboveAverage484 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I think Nogueira is the only fighter I've never seen a bad match from. I even liked his match with Ricco Rodriguez, even though it's been three years.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 http://fedor.bel.ru/video/index_eng.shtml - to DL a bunch of his RINGS fights.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 This is my tribute to Fedor. jwpeer Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 Why didn't Fedor's neck break on Randleman's slam. That slam was absolutely sick. And Fedor just shrugged it off, swept him, and applied a nasty kimura or whatever that arm lock was called (And used brute force to apply it) Is he a cyborg?
Lord of The Curry Posted April 19, 2006 Report Posted April 19, 2006 He's been called The Russian Experiment before but the current Cyborg of MMA is Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos who fights with the Chutebox Team from Brazil.
