Good Lord, that video is painful to watch.

Seeing a raccoon have the fur ripped off him, looking up at the camera and watching it die... that is evil shit.

*puts on fur coat*

Buy me a fur coat, hubby?

While this is quite sickening, there are far more injustices being done to humans. Sudan comes to mind.

I didn't watch but if it's anything like that dolphin video awhile back I won't be able to sleep for days. I think that the chineese were doing that too. Fuckin' gooks.

This reminds me of an article I read on Ogrish about this 'stomping' fetish thats going around the Asian countries. Apparently it involves a woman with a high-heeled shoe stomping puppies and kittens to death. Is there no low that the human race will not reach?

That was extreamly disturbing. I've got a ton of thoughts on this but I'm going to keep them to myself for now.

I prefer to turn a blind-eye to the cruelty associated with the fur industry. It really bothers me how cruel & inhumane the fur industry really is, but the way that PETA has handled the anti-fur side of the argument has left me between a rock & a hard place, and thus apathy & ignorance is the most comfortable option.

Stomping: I've actually seen some stomping videos online. Nothing with kittens & puppies, but with mice, frogs, and other small rodents & reptiles. It's not that hot. Laughably, the justification for making it illegal is that it will lead to people stomping babies to death. Umm, isn't that a bit of a stretch? "You know, seeing that tadpole get stomped was pretty hawt. Know what'd be hawter? Seeing a newborn get a good stompin'!"

Fuckin' gooks.
these Chinks
You guys sound as ignorant as the idiots that are doing this to the animals. Way to be so classy, fellas!

Sadly, I feel much the same way on this.

The thing I don't understand is how torturing these animals is most "cost-effective". There has to be lots of disease going around there, which would effect the humans. There's the time involved of controlling these animals, desperately squirming for their life. Why not just shoot them, or something?

Seeing these people savagely laying waste to thousand of animals in the most inhumane way doesn't really make me all that conserned about their "civil rights", hence the name calling. Is it immature? I guess. But if you're more offened by the word "gook" or "chink" than you are about their treatment of other living, breathing creatures then I guess we really know who the ignorant one here is.

I know, just reading it and hearing the description of the video makes me sick.

Too bad we'll never see the video of these people getting their skin ripped off by Satan.

you can't call one person a chink without insulting all Chinese. Nobody said those words are more insulting than what they are doing to the animals, either. It doesn't help to put words in peoples' mouths.

I can only hope those Chinese fucks get lots of diseases due to how they treat those animals. I think it's possible they do.

It's not just China, though... they have videos of Canadians killing seals. I don't know how a person could do that shit.

Only monsters step on a animals neck to break it while they try to skin them. These people are inhumane and non human beings.

It's easy. You grab a hapakik, which is kind of like a pickaxe with only one end, and smash in their brain.

Which, when used properly, is apparantly fairly humane, since it'll kill the seal REALLY fast.

But they were Gook-Canadians, or Chink-Canadians, right?

So call them that: Monsters. Or sadists, or subhumans or something more applicable. To throw out "gook" or "chink" makes you sound as ignorant as the guys that are killing the animals.

Oh come on TMM, there's no way to pretty up the killing of baby seals.

If anyone wears fur, anyone, this is what they have to accept. I wish that everyone who did had to witness it, and sign some fucking statement saying they condone it. Because it IS awful, trying to think of ways to take a fresh skin of an animal without tearing the skin itself.

Ditto the food industry. I just hope anyone who buys factory farmed meat, eggs, etc. could see how those animals are bred, raised, and killed. And take that and condone THAT. Because it's NOT much prettier. I buy freerange and organic beef, eggs, etc. because even tho those animals die for me, for the beef anyways, they don't suffer for the few years it takes to pump them with enough calories to turn them big enough to profit.

It would be really easy for this conversation to bleed into a case for not eating meat. So let me just say that cruelty to animals is just that, CRUEL. Still meat is food and that is not going to change. These days we really do not need the pelt from an animal to stay warm when it's cold, but some people prefere it I guess. Does it make us evil to "consume" the animals even if it has some proper use? Probably, it does.

Oh man THAT ^ was some crap posting. I am so so sorry.

But, the killing of the animals mentioned here is for nothing but fur. And there's zero reason that should still be going on today. Killing animals for food... cruel, but that's how the world works.

It's not just the raising of animals for meat. I don't mind husbandry, we've been doing it forever.

I MIND the factory farms, that SOOO many cows no longer walk on grass, are raised in hallways, are fed food they're not designed to eat, have to be pumped full of antibiotics because of that, and generally lead, by ANY measure, miserable lives.

The most humanely killed animal is hunted, because it lives how it choses to live until it is killed, and that relatively quickly. The next best is free range farming, because they live how they want to live, if not where. Then you degrade to the pens, then the buildings, then the boxes. And if you think it doesn't affect the quality of the meat, you're mistaken. They say the best beef in the world is Kobe beef, which are cows that are pampered their entire lives. What then, do we eat, animals that are tortured their entire lives?

I definitely agree that fur is worse. It's utterly senseless.

Mark me down in the "not clicking that link" column.

Fur is an unnecessary luxury. We can make synthetics that do the same job without scalping it off the living hide of some critter. And if you MUST kill animals for their skin, is it that hard to actually, y'know, KILL them before cutting it off? Doing it while they're still alive is too cruel.

As to the food industry: well, in some ways the factory cows have it easier than they would in the wild; guaranteed food, no predators, modern medicine, etc. Until they're killed and harvested for their flesh of course. But it tastes too damn good for me to stop eating meat just because of the ethical issues. I'm more worried about cruelty to humans than to animals.
