Guest InuYasha Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 Members of a church say God is punishing American soldiers for defending a country that harbors gays, and they brought their anti-gay message to the funerals Saturday of two Tennessee soldiers killed in Iraq. The church members were met with scorn from local residents. They chased the church members cars' down a highway, waving flags and screaming "God bless America." "My husband is over there, so I'm here to show my support," 41-year- old Connie Ditmore said as she waved and American flag and as tears came to her eyes. "To do this at a funeral is disrespectful of a family, no matter what your beliefs are." Source: http://www.breitbart.com/news/2005/08/28/D8C8JGIG0.html
Gary Floyd Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 I'm sorry, but Phelps just isn't news to me anymore. I used to get pissed off about him, but I'm now so used to hearing about him doing this kind of thing that I just don't care anymore.
SuperJerk Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I'm slowly starting to think Phelps is part of some conspiracy to make the right wing look bad. There's no way anyone could actually be this dumb.
Dobbs 3K Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I'm surprised someone hasn't shot him yet, or something.
Jingus Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Aw man, Phelps and his shitbird followers came to my home state and I missed it? Damn. ::unloads gun::
BruiserKC Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 After looking at the WBC website...I wonder if a bullet would be too good for that SOB.
Darth Vader Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Just as long as it kills him a bullet would be just fine. The guy isn't even worth watching go through pain.
nl5xsk1 Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 And it'd be a whole lot of fun to go and 'protest' his funeral much the same way him & his idiotic followers have protested the funerals of deceased soldiers.
BruiserKC Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 Courtesy of the Wikipedia page for Fred Phelps: In 2003, before the fall of Saddam Hussein during the Iraq War, Phelps wrote Hussein a letter praising his regime for being, in his opinion, "the only Muslim state that allows the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to be freely and openly preached on the streets." Furthermore, he stated that he, if U.S. Government and laws permitted and at the invitation of the Iraqi government, would like to send a delegation to Baghdad to "preach the Gospel" for one week. Hussein granted permission, and a group of WBC congregants traveled to Iraq to protest against the U.S. The parishioners stood on the streets of Baghdad and heavily patronized Baghdad establishments holding signs reading: AL GORE FAMILY VALUES (with a cartoon of two men having anal sex) [66] GO HOME (with a cartoon of Bill Clinton) BABY KILLER (with a cartoon of Hillary Clinton) BABY KILLER (with a cartoon of Bill Clinton) FAG GORE FAG USA= SODOM STOP THE HOLOCAUST (in reference to Phelps' "Topeka Baptist Holocaust" campaign) FAG USA (with a picture of an inverted, burning American flag) USA SIN (with a picture of anatomically incorrect stick figures engaged in anal sex) Phelps mourned the fall of Hussein's regime and has consistently criticized the invasion of Iraq, citing, "IRAQ+USA=SODOM." He also keeps a toll on his webpage celebrating the death of every American soldier killed and pronounces loyalty to Iraq. What would be funny is either this guy is a plant to make the anti-gay movement look bad...or he's secretly a colon-stretcher himself.
SuperJerk Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 (edited) If he's not a liberal plant, this dude really needs to be kicked in the balls a few hundred times. Why are right-wing pundits being totally silent on this guy? If a liberal activitist started protesting military funerals, they'd be all over him. An anti-gay activist does it? Silence. edit: I stand corrected. Edited May 7, 2006 by Y2Jerk
Vampiro69 Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 I have seen the guy mentioned on CNN and Fox News before and quite surprisingly Channel One News in the schools. The guy is nuts. The trouble is if you confront his group or get into a fight with one of them he will personally sue you since he has a law degree. Death won't come soon enough for the man. nl5xsk1 has the right idea, I would be up for protesting the guy's funeral.
haws bah gawd Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 So calling everything and everyone a 'fag' is an example of Christian values? I've been of the Christian faith for all of my life, and I don't remember this being preached in any church I've ever been to. I hope this guy's funeral is protested to no end.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 The problem with guys like this is that they act like idiots, and people try to spin it into "this is what all Christians are like."
Art Sandusky Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 No they don't. The politicans do a fine job of it by themselves whenever they try to legislate morality. According to the current majority party, gay people shouldn't be able to get married or adopt children.
NoCalMike Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 There was a clip floating around the internet of his wife on Hannity and Colmes. I guess their church has approx 80 members, and about 90% are his family and extended family.....LOL.
haws bah gawd Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 I didn't know we already had discussion going on this prick so I started a thread about his bitch wife in General Chat here. Here is the interview youre talking about http://www.thatvideosite.com/view/2178.html
Dr. Zaius Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 The problem with guys like this is that they act like idiots, and people try to spin it into "this is what all Christians are like." I agree with you.
Jingus Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 So, does this guy live in a heavily guarded compound with armed security and such? Cuz if not, why hasn't someone just shot him in the head whenever he stepped outside his door?
Art Sandusky Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Because that would be stooping down to him and his follower's level.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 He's got a right to be ignorant. The guy's a total embarassment, so let karma do its duty.
NoCalMike Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 The problem with guys like this is that they act like idiots, and people try to spin it into "this is what all Christians are like." Well no, that is what shows like Hannity/Colmes do because they are designed to be "news" to the lowest common demoninator. It is no different then when there is a Peace Rally and the News Media goes and finds the 5 out of 10,000 people that are masked and waiving around Communist Flags and then ask the Organizer of the Rally "Why do you hate America" Or the fact that just recently when Rumsfield was trying to hold a "Everything is Grand" Press Conference, a CIA member was calling Rumsefield on his blatant lying, and the media labled the guy a "heckler" without mentioning his credentials.
SuperJerk Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Its good to know that there's something everyone agrees on, be they left, right, libertarian, or politically nuetral...the news media sucks.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 It's probbaly been mentioned by now, but there's a video similar to this in General Chat. Now, the two Fox guys whos names I'm too drunk to remember were't being very fair to this woman. GOOD. They were absolutely correct. I can't even imagine some of the things they said. It's insane.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 So, does this guy live in a heavily guarded compound with armed security and such? Yes.
Vampiro69 Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 Phelps and his crew of idiots showed up in Fargo, North Dakota today to protest the funeral of a soldier here. There was a motorcylcle group there to make sure that the protestors would not get close to funeral. I haven't heard if there were any major confrontations that took place though.

Guest LiveFastDieNever Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 I go to an interdenominational Christian college. A friend brought up Phelps's website and we pulled up a sermon to hear how bad it was. I still don't quite understand why the Christian community isn't actively smacking this guy around since he's distorting scripture so severely. Nobody's happy about it but there aren't very many public things. This could be because most churches just handle these national issues internally through their Sunday morning ministries, but still.
