goldengreek 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Better that the Bulls overpaid for Wallace, whose sheer reputation can get him by defensively, than overpaying Joel Przybilla (probably $9 mil annually) or Nazr Mohammed.Thats what I said, but I would rather have Wilcox, or Nene. teke184 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Currently rumored deal on ESPN is Chandler to the Hornets for P.J. Brown and J.R. Smith.DO IT Bulls!!!!!!!!!! Hell, do it, Hornets. Chandler is at least a good option at C for the next few years, until Hilton Armstrong or Cedric Simmons develops into a legit threat. As far as Brown and JR Smith go, Smith's not going to succeed with the Hornets because he and Byron Scott don't see eye to eye. Brown deserves the chance to play for a contender, so it wouldn't bother me to see him sent to the Bulls as part of a package deal.
Guest Report post Posted July 4, 2006 I don't think that JR Smith would stick with the Bulls for too long. He wants PT. I like him, he's a hell of a talent.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 the article is incorrect, it's actually 4 years for 60 million (15 per year) for Ben's new contract (later articles and reports give the new figure i think). It's also expected that Pistons sign Joel Pryzbilla wtihin the next day or two as a replacement. ehhh, well he's definatly better than a gaping hole in the lineup.
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 It makes more sense if its 60 million. If it was only 52 million, then Ben calling Detroit's offer of 48 million an embarassment to then sign a contract for just 4 mill more would have been an embarassment. Ripper 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Hmmm...The hornets with Chandler, West, Peja, Mystery two guard and Paul....sounds good. I for one do not like the Joel Pryzbilla bashing in here. The guy is a beast on the boards and a great shot blocker. Nazer Mohammod wishes he was Joel Prysbilla.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Joel Pryzbilla would be better for Detroit than Mohammed. Mohammed is a good rebounder, but can't defend for shit, and blocks maybe one shot a game. He's better on offense than Pryzbilla, but that's not what you need. Pryzbilla is one of the better shot blockers in the NBA. Don't know if it was posted or not, but the Pistons signed Nazr Mohammed. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Przybilla had knee problems most of last season, too, though. That's the only problem I'd have with signing him. Of course, the risk isn't any higher than, say, anyone on the Pacers.

Hey, I just want that trade made because there is only a year left on P.J Browns contract, which will give the Bulls 10 million in cap space next year to sign a stud. Chandler has 4 years at 40 million left on his contract.

Nazr Mohammed according to CNN: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/bask...?section=si_nba I wonder whose playing C for San Antonio now that they've lost both Nazr and Rasho. Wow. Talk about an underwhelming replacement for Wallace. I'm surprised that Nazr and Rasho are actually walking into starting roles on other teams. As far as the Spurs go, they've either got to trade for someone or see if Pryzbilla wants to come into a winner.

alfdogg 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Golden State is also interested in Chandler, with Troy Murphy likely part of any deal. I don't think the Bulls need to make a trade for KG at this point, especially if they do the deal with the Hornets. As mentioned, Brown frees up a lot of money next summer, and with LeBron having yet to accept an extension and the Bulls probably getting at worst a top 4 pick from the Knicks, the possibilities are downright scary. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 I'm hoping that Carmelo signing for 5/$80 million will persuade Lebron to seek a better offer. There's no better offer, that's a maxed out deal. I can see LeBron waiting to see how the Cavs do next season, but ultimately I doubt he will leave Cleveland How big does the Darko draft debacle become now? Bigger, but the real debacle was trading him to clear space for Wallace this offseason. And now Darko is going to become a very productive player in Orlando (he was blocking 2-3 shots and rebounding and shooting the ball well in like 20 minutes a night after the trade) and Detroit ends up with Nazr Mohammed. Don't you think that'd be a reason why they wouldn't mesh, though? I have this feeling that Wallace won't buy into Skiles's coaching like he would for a "big name" coach like Larry Brown, and then it's gonna be all sorts of doghouse nonsense from there on out. I don't see it at all. First of all, the biggest thing Skiles cares about is 100% effort and defense. Ben brings that. Second, Skiles has never had a championship tested all-star veteran leader on his team. He'll give Wallace the proper respect. He's not an idiot, just tough on his youngsters. I can't believe how everyone and their mother has turned into a Big Ben hater. The Bulls now look downright scary. I'm not sure how much they'll get from Tyrus Thomas right away but Wallace, Brown, Sweetney, Nocioni, Deng, Gordon, Hinrich, Duhon is a damn good 8 man rotation, and all a sudden the Bulls have fixed their biggest weakness (size) while keeping all of their perimiter versatility. Very well done by John Paxson.
teke184 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 Thomas is athletic but unpolished. There's questions as to how much he learned under ex-LSU star Randy Livingston, who was his workout coach when preparing for the tryouts. (Supposedly, Livingston was helping him work on his shooting game, which was the main question mark about him. His most impressive performances tended to be games where he'd block 6 shots and pull down a bunch of boards, although he was still capable of putting up 20 in a game.) The reason I was pushing hard for the Hornets to get Thomas is that I see him as a potential Wallace with a better potential to score, if he picks it up well. Learning under Wallace, even if he doesn't see the floor much this year, could only help his defensive game.
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2006 I love the fact that Ben Wallace is going to anchor our front line now, but at the same time, I still worry about the lack of points the Bulls put on occasion. Now, I realize that Hinrich and Gordon are going to be a year older, and hopefully better on the offensive end, but I still think that we should go after someone who can give us at least twenty points every game. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 Deng can be a strong scorer. He averaged about 17 a game the last two months of the season. And he's only 21. He's younger than LeBron James. Nocioni is good for 10-15 a night. If they get JR Smith he can score in bunches off the bench. I really don't think they need an Al Harrington type.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2006 Well Seattle and Wilcox are "far apart" on a deal. Personally I'm way to hesitant on giving him big money now, but then if you play him next year he is unrestricted and you could lose him for nothing.
