"Take Five" - Dave Brubeck

not a song

Yes it is. Even I don't enforce the song/instrumental distinction

i just can't say i'm in favor of redefining words for no reason

if the topic were "favorite pieces of music" or something like that, my list would be quite different, instead of rock-oriented stuff that has actual singing

No. I'm not gonna let it happen. Not worth the trouble. Let's move on.

I'll concede Rhapsody In Blue as a composition rather than a song, but not Take Five.

a song is a composition, as well.

and wow, Take Five is a composition.

i'm not trying to argue, and apparently this has been discussed before, but if you want to ignore the meaning of words, then table asparagus seagull.

Here's my Top 10... The Top 5 are always & forever. 6-10 are most likely to fill out the rest of the list but can vary.

1: "Iron Man" - Black Sabbath

3: "Mr. Writer" - Stereophonics

4: "Hello" - Oasis

5: "#1 Crush" - Garbage

6: "Chasing The Caped Man" Score - Final Fantasy VII (Something about it calms me)

7: "Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle" - Nirvana

8: "Fire on Babylon" - Sinead O'Connor

9: "A Day In The Life" - Beatles

10A: "Alternate Willow" Score - Christophe Beck

10B: "Of Wolf and Man" - Metallica (Not sure what it does to me but I love it)

5.Is This It - The Strokes

6.Trigger Cut/Wounded Kite at :17 - Pavement

7.Y-Control - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

8.Wasted and Ready - Radish (though I can't really tell the difference when Ben Kweller does it himself)

This list is extremely tentative.

The thing is that I have about 30 other songs I would want to add to this list and could interchange about half of my list. I just picked the first 10 songs on the most played list on iTunes.

Art Brut - Good Weekend

The Beatles - A Day In The Life

Queens of the Stone Age - Go With The Flow

LL Cool J - Mamma Said Knock You Out

The Rapture - Whoo! Alright-Yeah... Uh Huh

Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage!

Finley Quaye - Spiritulized

White Stripes - You're Pretty Good Looking (For A Girl)

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower

Talking Heads - Psycho Killer

It's really tough to do this. I don't ever feel I can properly reduce my most favourite songs down to a list of just 10. Those so many others that I'd love to add or take away. However, I don't know how much longevity they'll have with me, even though at the moment they're one of my favourites. For example The Raptures - WAYUH I love it and have done for over a year but will it still be a favourite of mine another year done the line? Doubtful, but as it stands it's a favourite very much so. Especially when it's time to get ready and go out.

Guest Tzar Lysergic

I can do this with albums, but not songs.

Sleep's "Dopesmoker" and any nine Agoraphobic Nosebleed tracks is as good a guess as any.

"Tears of a Clown" is an interesting choice. I like that song, but it seems a little too whimsical to me. My favorite Miracles song would actually be "Tracks of My Tears" probably, which is pretty much a song about exactly the same thing.
